  • In Between? is an educational project started by European Network Remembrance and Solidarity in April 2016. The participants are given a unique opportunity to learn collecting and documenting oral stories. Gaining both interdisciplinary, theoretical knowledge and practical skills, they collect audio- and video recordings of individual historical narrations, as well as scans of domestic photography archives in order to share them with museums and historical archives.
In the study visit in Transcarpathia participated Paweł Drymajło, Galya Vasylenko, Nella McNicol, Anastasia Soroka, Olena Nikulina and Júlia Németh. The group was leaded by Zhanna Wróblewska and Pavlo Khudish.

The audiovisual documentation is avaiable to be used by museums, historical organisations and archives in educational purposes. Please contact us directly at office@enrs.eu for further information.
The project is organised by ENRS in cooperation with the strategic partners, including the National Audiovisual Institute and the National Digital Archive. In Transcarpathia we collaborated with National Uzhhorod University, Association of Romes "Romani Cherheń", Gniewa Wołosiewicz Association of the Poles of the Zakarpacie Region, Welyi Bereznom Parish and transcarpathian regional charitable fund "Hesed Shpira".
In Between? project was co-funded by Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, European Comission and Federal Goverment Representative for Culture and Media.

My grandfather was born in this region in 1891. He came to America in 1907 before the war, In 1992 while living in Hungary I made contact with his brother's grandchildren. I went to visit them in 1993 and 1994. I am almost 70 years old now and can no longer travel because of my health. The next generation of my relatives in Transcarpathia however now communicates with me on Facebook. I think about my visits to their country every single day.

I'm a bit puzzled as to why no Ukrainians are interviewed. They are mentioned by others but it appears that no one has bothered to speak with even one certainly no-one is labelled as such!

But Ukrainians live in Transcarpathia too. They form a majority and they have a story to tell. Something odd here that they have no voice. Judging by some of the comments, perhaps they are deliberately left out. Shame on the video makers!!!

Kievan Rus pre-dated the Moscovys. It's essential to know the history of the area. Why does Russia need so much land, anyway, when those in the cold suffer so badly? Too big to care for all, no?

@@hollywoodhh5646 or the Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth? My family were Hangario-Astioro nationalists from the Old Maramures, the town that used to be named Dohla, now Dohve, which lies in Ukraine. They spoke six languages, but in the home, Rusini! was the house language that they would always go back to, between themselves. They left in 1919, which was a good thing, as they were already worried about their Jewishness.
