I HAVE TO LOVE the LOVE that this practically indescribable magnificent stroke of GENIUS receives. It's great to hear it being ANALYZED again & again. BUTTTTTT,. I also often want to VOMITTTT when within the FIRST 10 minutes there's this need to COMPARE & DISRESPECT the MASTERPIECES that came afterwards. I understand IF YOU DON'T COMPREHEND "TALES" and RELAYER or are NOT SENSITIVE to the PERFECTIONS of BOTH but MANY consider them to be the WHOLY TRINITY of YESISM. Relayer is definitively the crazy wilder younger brother of Close to the Edge & TALES from Topographic Oceans is a quintessential ULTIMATE unique WORLD all it's own, BEYOND the reach of any other Progship ever launched! All THREE are absolutely better than ANYTHING EVER in PROG & I as a "encyclopediac" fanatic of the entire worldwide genre, don't speak lightly of others from the BEST MUSIC GENRE to exist. Personally I could not imagine that 70's PERFECT ERA of my TEENS without TRIPPING at EVERY YES LIVE TOUR on "Window Pane". Anyway I just hate it when the NEGATIVITY starts. I mean, like Sex, NOTHING really competes with the "first time". And 72's CTTE was YES's first perfect MAJOR LEAP. Even Semi-Prog, Pink Floyd's "ONLY" true great Masterpiece 73's "DARK SIDE" is very different. Anyway, I think it's better to stick to the TOPIC at hand and to what you KNOW rather than veer off into music that you don't understand, comprehend or you clearly don't spend enough quality time trying to realize the true BEAUTY of it's DEPTHS. TALES and RELAYER are NOT MADE for the casual or temperamental Prog listener. They're designed for an entire other type of mindset!

I’m so used to disagreeing with
prog punditry that I ended up pleasantly surprised to find myself agreeing enthusiastically with you guys. From an old, old Yes enthusiast thank you for this. It’s good work. You guys give voice to important points.
And do not forget, ever lol these guys were so much better live.

OK after my rant & listening to the rest, I find the a lot of the nervous joking about the music as a disservice. It's OK to view this music as seriously DEEP and PROFOUND, as it was meant to be perceived. Jon's spiritually revealing, metaphorically poetic Shakespearean-ly abstract lyrics are exquisitely vocalized, expressed and arranged to coincide perfectly with the structure of the instrumentation itself. I think all the members gave as much of their input and talent as possible to bring Jon & Steve's vision to it's truest Light. Jon is and was the a true Visionary with the ability to conceive of ideas that others could embellish and elaborate to.

Totally appreciate your passion! And I love that Yes means this much to you. Let there be no doubt, we think this is deep and profound, also we place this album in the same league as Dark Side (true rock royalty), but part of of the fun of Prog is the ridiculousness. This lyrically is one of the most moving songs for me, as well as some of the most esoteric when read on paper. Also, in regards to later Yes music: these episodes are forthcoming and we will have love for that too

@@ianprisemusic Salute! It's all good & cool. I've just been so moved to tears so many times and taken to such incredible places by ALL of YES music during their classic and peak years. For me, seeing them push the envelope with each release, I felt they could do no wrong when going beyond & over "The Edge". To Chase their Sound Over the Edge beyond any reality that I've ever seen or known was a yearly celebration & sort of inner pilgrimage for many of us then. LOL! Sounds corny but it's true. YES live were much more than a show. I saw the first Dark Side & Animals Tours as well. One was like sailing on a cloud, the other was like being put through, the washer, the dryer & then hug to dry. YES are probably the only group that I can hear over and over & still discover something new but CTTE I can still hear twice a day! Thank you all for giving this phenomena called YES so much time and appreciation.
