    We had 2 4880’s. They had 903 Cummins in them. Roadranger transmissions.

      This is from before I added narration. I will have to use all the clips from this day and explain the operation. Thank you for watching.

    Not a Perkins Cummins was standard Detroit option or unless they've repowered with something else

    Can Big Tractor Power or a viewer explain the operation that is being performed. Is this no-till planting or something else? Thank you.

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes this is no till. They are seeding soybeans. See Big Tractor Power’s Video Tractors, Plows and Harvesters to see more about no-till.

    Great video... The tractor in the background at 1:00, looks like a Valtra. Or am I mistaken...

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      marcV8diesel It is a Valtra 8950. The video of the 8950 working in the same field as the Massey Ferguson 5200 is at th-cam.com/video/PuC56nTY4mE/w-d-xo.html

      You don't see many of those in the north america...

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      marcV8diesel No you do not. Valtra was sold in the U.S. and Canada but the 120 hp and under were bigger sellers. This 200 hp 8950 maybe one of the very few big Valtras in the U.S. You can see the Valtra 8950 working in the same field @ th-cam.com/video/PuC56nTY4mE/w-d-xo.html

    Do they mow the trash, if not how do they harvest the beans??

    • @jeremymeyer8800
      @jeremymeyer8800 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Amazingly, by the time the beans are mature, there won’t be much left. All that material will have dried up and whatever that is left usually goes right through the combine with little trouble. It looks ugly, but works well.

    Perkins diesel?

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Machi74005 Massey Ferguson used Cummins engines in their 4wds and latter McConnell built models used Detroit Diesel engines. There was one prototype Massey 4900 built with a Rolls Royce engine and shown at a Massey dealer meeting in the late 1980's just before the Massey 5200 was introduced.

      This farming practice is the least no intrusive. It is no till farming planting seeds into the soil with out ever disturbing it. This was a field of corn before. Weeds grew up in the spring. Once the soybeans start growing they will grow over the weeds.

      @@bigtractorpower O sorry for extreme reaction. When I first saw I thought it had never been cultivated a land and you are ruining all the animals and insects' holes, nests etc. Please excuse my unfair reaction. Thanks for your sensitivity and answer.
