Enjoy a video on my weird experience with Chainsaw Man's start, wrote the video after seeing only the first episode so some opinions have changed but for the most part the sentiments at the time I still maintain. Kinda a more squirrely video cause I'm working on stuff that is mentioned at the end of this video. Hope you like it!

Mangareader, feels like a madman for not enjoying the anime.
I accepted the cgi but imo even the directing, color palette is just off, director went for the realistic movie aesthetic because Fuji likes movies, but what Fuji likes are Tarantino, B movies like Sharknado, which translates to the manga and is the opposite of what the anime director is going for.
I find it sad also that the cgi is not as good as what i expected, HNK's cgi is much better and that's for a series nowhere as popular as CSM.

This is a really great point at least so far, it goes for a cinematic feel but you’re right the cinematic visuals that are being are usually very stylizes. I think it’s something that could change the further it goes. I’m unfamiliar with it HNK besides it being one of the bigger CG heavy anime in the past couple years that people liked.

If you like those waffles, you better get ready for beans on toast. 😈
Yeah, I'm quite outside anime/manga politics and just enjoy it like anything else, so I don't have much discussion in me there.
What I can say is that I agree Mr Chainsaw Man feels weird. The looks and shading on him are alright, but the animated movements feel heavier and over-acted for a character of that style if that makes sense. Like a walking astronaut in space.
    That's just me though 🙂

Mr Chainsaw Man would put some pep in his step if he went to England to eat some beanies and toast.
I'm curious to see some more of the behind the scenes for the animation choices. I agree with you on Denji's movements but its gotten a ton better in only three episodes, which doesn't usually change that rapidly.

Funny you mentioned FLCL since Fujimoto as stated it as one of his influences.
The cgi is definitely hit or miss for many people, but putting the cgi aside I would say this is easily Mappas best looking show overall. There is an attention to detail in every moment that other shows like JJK was missing. The character animation is so fluid that some people thought it was cgi, and as far as i know there is no rotoscopeing. The only thing it's missing for me is the action cuz it has been a bit underwhelming.
Also the beginning is definitely the weakest part of the story so it's understandable that not everyone will be on board immediately. None of my favorite moments are even gonna be in the first season.

That's cool FLCL is an influence, wasn't aware of that but it definitely shows.
Yeah the rotoscoping comment was from that short, there isn't any present in the show it just semi looks like it I guess is why people are confused. I see your point with JJK, they have different strengths for sure.
Good to hear a lot of great stuff is to come

I do respect this opinion cause I found that for someone like me who LOVES the manga, I love the early fan service for us fans.
But in a way my brother that I’m watching with, has never read it, he still likes the anime, thinks it looks good and LOVES the concept of that every devil is strong on how much it is feared.
But also I agree, blue lock episode 1 is better
These are my scattered thoughts while watching
I respect this video, subscribing because I enjoyed this style of video even tho I disagree
    Can’t wait to see more!

scattered thoughts for a scattered video haha, yeah I get that, there's plenty of people that did just really vibe with the series only off one episode. I think I got in my head on being critical because I watched it and thought "oh yeah cool" then saw other very very positive responses.
      Thanks for the sub!

The pilot isn't the best thing ever made, i don't think anyone claimed that (or atleast it's not what the hype is about).
For season 1 i suggest lowering your expectations.
It's kinda like introducing a someone to Breaking bad, alot of people stop at season 1-2 but the content that made the show popular is in the other half.

As someone who's read the CSM manga, I completely understand what you mean lol.
I myself like the animation style of the show and am just very hype for some later scenes to get animated looking at how these last 3 episodes have been.
Though it's completely understandable how jarring all this can be for anime-onlys, especially after only 3 episodes lol. All I'll say is that if they continue to adapt the source material as well as they're doing it now, you'll find out why we hold this series in high regard lol

the thing is... a lot of manga readers are probably lying about the beginning. because i did not like the manga beginning, all my friends who read chainsaw man did not like the beginning. im a huge fan but dropped chainsaw man at chapter 15 or something. and im pretty sure all these manga readers are hype because they know the legendary shit that will come after the first quarter of the manga. but in their head they thought the start was better when it wasn't. i agree, chainsaw man beginning is pretty mediocre and doesn't do much special. i do think the rest is amazing so you have something to look forward to!

    • @HizzyHay
      @HizzyHay  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Totally. That's what I heard from a buddy who also had dropped it for a bit at the start. I'm also cool with something starting mediocre, I'm not a huge fan of the beginning of One Piece (watched in the anime though) but it is necessary for later parts of the series especially building a world, granted it's a harder sell of hey watch 500 episodes and then it really picks up haha. But yeah definitely excited for the legendary stuff the show will eventually offer.

@@miramaxcinemax5512 yea its not bad but nothing special, i think jujutsu kaisen did a wayyy better job at keeping people interested in the beginning

@@vriendloos3242 JJK characters were boring to me in the beginning, then got better, but not to the level of CM. Story in the beginning is nothing special just like CM. And I don't like chibi humour, too, CM is pretty rare example of shounen playing it's humour straight without any of that.
