Thanks for another fact filled and informed podcast. The Triton has been the reliable tail ender in the ute pack for eons so it's great to learn that there maybe a challenger to the top three. The prospect of a Kia ute is also enticing. Thanks again for the insights and background on what's coming soon. Enjoy the learning.
Pretty straightforward and fair first impressions for the Triton. Tho it will not beat a V6 Ranger but vs a 4-cyl one? Sorry but Triton for dayssss, cheaper yet is even more capable and with less non-sense features and more with only the things you pretty much need tbh.
I enjoyed the discussion on the Triton, it’s good to hear that it wasn’t just a comparison to the Ranger, but emphasis was on the Triton itself and what it offers.
The last KIA commercial AFAIK in the AU market was the Ceres which was a cab over and came in 4x4 around the late 90's early 2000's. "The crowbar of trucks!"
Hey guys when are you going to do a review on the new sportage hybrid, I was looking at the diesel but was wondering if the hybrid was worth looking at.
there has been buzz going around the pajero name might be coming back. Is Mitsubishi planning in the future to bring back the classic monocoque chassis 4x4? keep up the good work guys
It would be cool to see a LC300 competitor but I doubt it. No point in making a monocoque mid sized SUV if they also make a Triton based ladder chassis PS replacement. Way too much development cost. Toyota is using their LC300 chassis across Prado and Lexus. Mitsi would not have that ability to leverage the development costs across different market segments. It would cannibalise PS sales making for potentially two expensive and unprofitable product lines. From a drivetrain point of view, it would need a new engine or it would be bigger, slower and less fuel efficient than the PS. They could simply drop the "sport" monkier and make the Triton based SUV a Pajero.
@@DW-10 i think they will be a slight chance. Pajero is one of the cheaper and best selling advantage cars in Australia. Most importantly it has big history behind the name in rally. It may not be as amazing as a Prado or a Land Cruiser but with the prices of those cars a base model Pajero at the time it was around $50k. Yes in this market it would be hard. I don’t particularly like the Pajero sport. It’s basically a triton wagon not built from the ground up. Maybe a hybrid option would be good but I wish the name would come back
It sold well because it was cheap compared to a Prado. It was cheap because it was OLD and at end of life. Mitsi already made the call not to replace it. There is no way they would develop an entirely new model to compete against a PS which would be far cheaper to develop. They may bring the name back, but not on the same sort of vehicle.

When are you reviewing the new triton?
Jack and James yayyyy. I miss Scott but a limited edition like this is most welcome

You Can be sure that Kia Ute will be available in NZ our sales figures pretty much match Australia as far as ute sales go

Gwm tank 500 must be getting close
When r u guys going to test it!!
The Qashqai e-Power will be interesting. It seems to me like that hybrid system works better in smaller vehicles.
Go the “Occy” model.
I think the way the bonnet is finished on the i30 Sedan N looks really poor, as it seems to be the same from the prefacelift
It's a Ranger beater if you value reliability. Cheers

Is the Triton based on the new Nav?
As much as it makes any difference when vehicles are co-developed, the new Nav will be based on the Triton.
Australia's never going to get away from the large vehicle fetish if they keep getting the spotlight.
All the tradie boys love them! Compensating for something maybe? LOL
Forget the Triton, how's about the flash new set!? And the sound?! Top notch, fellas. 👍
Wow
All the sex bots ruining the comment section 😢
There was a Morris and Austin Tasman and they were both forgettable
Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubushi and Mazda all shit on the Ranger.
Wow a Triton review thats not a Ranger shill at the same time. Take note how to do a review @carsales
Take note about the difference of a podacast an a review...
