Awesome. The power to your arm that's going to give you will bring some pretty fantastic results this year Graham. Brilliant piece of kit - really exciting. That all said - it''s nothing without the cameraman (and that bloody narrative!). Another mug of tea being raised, great stuff. Si.
Wow! Your photography is absolutely amazing, thank you for sharing your tutorial, I have just purchased this camera Panasonic fz82 zoom bridge camera, can't wait for some better weather as we are about 8-10 miles away from Rutland water, I can recommend this to anyone, I hope to take photos of the Rutland belle, I have taken photographs but only with my Samsung Galaxy-A21, but they are quite good. I will have to update my photo album of Rutland water lol. many thanks again for sharing your photography skills. Your narration is as good as sir David Attenborough but don't tell him I said that 😉
@Graham Barker Here is the trick to get a shot of an Osprey "catching" a fish. Throw a floating dead fish out on the lake. That's how it's done over here in British Columbia for Eagles and Ospreys. The Eagles become trained and will happily fly very close to a little boat with a photographer in it.
great footage Graham. Thankyou. Osprey catching fish?.. yes yes worth waiting for. Out here on The Coorong the life ambition is to capture the Australian Brown Falcon dropping on a King Brown Snake, to lift it up about 100' then drop it on hard ground, breaking it's back. I've seen this twice, in the same spot. So in retirement I'll build a hide there, put on some headphones from a dawn start and.. wait. The footage I'll have playing repeatedly on my headstone for eternity.. for it'll likely take an eternity to get.. But worth it eh.. :)
Thanks for a great comment. I really hope you get your footage, I've got footage of them swooping down and it's great to be able to see Ospreys only 30 mins from home but from that hide they are a long way off and I'd love to get them a lot closer and in slow motion, thanks again:-)
Would you still recommend this camera today? Do you still use it? Looking into getting a new camera and for the price with that zoom I can't complain! My last point and shoot was a SX50 and I loved it.
I only use these cameras for filming not stills, this is an excellent camera with good picture quality, I now use a Nikon P1000 as it has a manual focus ring and a longer lens, I still use the FZ82 if I have the P1000 on a tripod and I want to grab a hand held close up but the down side of this camera is the amount of internal camera noise it picks up and the manual focus is very fiddly but for the money it;s great value, I supose it comes down to what you want to do with it, hope this helps:-)
I was using my fz1000 for those shots, the fz82 was for the long shots of the Osprey's and other birds way out on the water, all of the long shots were the fz82:-)
Graham Barker I got myself a Panasonic GX850, and it has this feature called snap movie, and it has a focus pull setting where you set the start and end of the focus range. I just looked it up, and the FZ80/FZ82 has it too :) only downside is it's only 1080P
I used a tripod with the FZ82 and the wider shots were filmed with a Lumix FZ1000 handheld and yes I was a professional cameraman and editor, now mostly retired, though I still do a little bit of pro work, thanks:-)
Yes very happy, I cant believe the sharpness of the 120x int. zoom at full extension, I shot the film in 4k because you can get over 3000mm 35mm equivalent and then edited in 1080p. It takes longer to import the files so in future I'll shoot in 1080 and switch to 4k for the really long range shots:-)
Non post editing...I presume? Everybody is posting zoom takes. Can you take some stills, please? Great piece of work! Kudos!! **By the way Graham, you really nailed that eagle...! You should have lend her your camera so it will help her to nail the fish, uh?
Hi I use the fz1000 for the wider shots hand held so I can grab shots on the move so to speak without haveing set up the tripod also the fz1000 has a mic jack for better sound as I mention in the reviews the fz82 picks up a lot of internal sound. Also the fz1000 as a manual focus ring then I use the fz82 on a tripod for the long range shots but it's more than up to the job visually from wide to telephoto. I think the fz82 has a better resolution evf and touch screen than the fz72 and 4k filming.
What is your opinion of the FZ82. I had a FZ72 and found the pictures and videos were awful. Does the 4K really make a difference? Good video by the way.
I'm very happy with it. It is a bridge camera and what you get for the money is excellent. Stills wise it no where near as good a dslr but I bought it for my films and the magnification i.e. 120 x with the izoom. I think the 1080p footage and the 4k look very good and using 4k for filming gets me an extended range at the telephoto end because of the cropping i.e. over 1600 mm equivalent. There are many other similar spec cameras out there but since my pro days I've preferred Panasonic, thanks:-)
Hi, put the camera into video mode, go into the menu and on page 4 you'll see the I zoom on or off setting just above the digital zoom. The focal length of the lens does change depending on what mode you're in, 4k has the longest focal length.
Thank you again for your tutorial, you certainly know your birds, absolutely fantastic video, quite relaxing.
Many thanks
Very peaceful and enjoyable to watch, thanks.
Thanks:)
Beautiful day. Great footage. Especially enjoyed the Grebes. Thank you again for taking us along. Have a blessed day.
Thank you so much for your very kind comment:-)
Splendid footage Graham... wonderful capture, superb clarity!
Thank you very much:-)
Wow! wonderful images Graham. What a beautiful day out. Thankyou & keep em' coming.
Thanks Steve:-)

Thanks Si for your kind comments and continued support, much appreciated:-)
I've ok'd Sun 11/06 at Brandon Marsh with Keith if that is good for you too?
Yes it's in the diary:-)
Superb footage Graham & the new camera is fantastic. Really enjoyed this thank you so much. Su x 🦅🦅🦅
Thanks Su, glad you enjoyed it:-)

Thank you 😊
thanks for the videos. i just ordered the fz82 after watching this video. i cant wait to get it.
How did you make out with it? I just received mine the other day. I have to learn how to use it tho LOL
Lovely film, Graham. Great osprey footage - wish we had them here. Big zoom on the camera looks pretty good!
Thanks, these cameras get better all the time👍
Great stuff, really impressed with the quality on that camera, full digital zoom seems very usable. Lucky to be out yesterday, such a beautiful day.
Thanks, I'm really pleased with results 😊
That looks awesome.
Great footage and Camera.
The auto focus seems very good on the new Panasonic Fz82 was always in focus while flying Graham excellent film
Thank Keith👍
Beautiful video as always!
Thank you so much
Very cool video, thanks for posting!
Wow fantastic - time to upgrade from my trusted FZ72 I think :)
Thanks for commenting:-)
hi bro. this is very nice! may i know do you handheld or tripod?
Thanks, I use both, I hand held the FZ1000 and the FZ82 was on a tripod
Great footage!
Thanks:-)
sweet Zoom

I have same camera but I dont know why I cant clearkt capture any birds. Also how you make 120x zoom

good video
Very nice my friend 🤝
Thanks:-)
Panasonic FZ80 - Nikon B700 - Canon SX70 - cual elegir entre estas tres??
Solo tengo experiencia con la FZ82 que es una cámara muy buena por el precio.
Fantastic! Wondering whether you were hand holding while panning?
Yes, for the wider shots I used my LUMIX fz1000 hand held and the fz82 for the long shots on a tripod
Would you still recommend this camera today? Do you still use it? Looking into getting a new camera and for the price with that zoom I can't complain! My last point and shoot was a SX50 and I loved it.

How are you doing the focus pulls, using the touch screen? Looks really good and smooth :D
I was using my fz1000 for those shots, the fz82 was for the long shots of the Osprey's and other birds way out on the water, all of the long shots were the fz82:-)

Enjoyed the video as always. Are you still happy with thd new camera? It seems to do a good job. I'm shopping around for another camera myself.
Yes very happy, I cant believe the sharpness of the 120x int. zoom at full extension, I shot the film in 4k because you can get over 3000mm 35mm equivalent and then edited in 1080p. Can you take some stills, please?
Great piece of work!
Kudos!!
**By the way Graham, you really nailed that eagle...! You should have lend her your camera so it will help her to nail the fish, uh?
Hi, I did take a few stills on the full test film I did, here's a link, the stills are at 6.10. Thanks:-)
Sorry here's the link. th-cam.com/video/bc0NmCtnmsQ/w-d-xo.html
What tripod and mount did you use? Thank you for this video.
The tripod I use is a Vinten Pro 5 with the head that comes with it, thanks.
I am still deciding whether to upgrade from my fz72 but why did you use the fz1000 for closer filming, is he fz82 not up to it?
Hi I use the fz1000 for the wider shots hand held so I can grab shots on the move so to speak without haveing set up the tripod also the fz1000 has a mic jack for better sound as I mention in the reviews the fz82 picks up a lot of internal sound. Why when I record with this camera the video quality is fuzzy
Sounds like a faulty camera
What is your opinion of the FZ82. I had a FZ72 and found the pictures and videos were awful. Does the 4K really make a difference? Good video by the way.
I'm very happy with it. It is a bridge camera and what you get for the money is excellent. Graham, what cameras are you using? The FZ82 for the long range, but for the other footage? Thanks!
Hi, I'm using my LUMIX FZ1000
Thanks! :D
How do i enable the extra zoom? Izoom, digital zoom. Are you using a certain aspect ratio?
Hi, put the camera into video mode, go into the menu and on page 4 you'll see the I zoom on or off setting just above the digital zoom. The focal length of the lens does change depending on what mode you're in, 4k has the longest focal length.
Nice
Thanks
what settings you use?
Just exposure mode P and manual focus where possible
What a lovely vid
Thank you:-)
120x zoom?....I thought it was 60x...
James Lovell 60x Optical, 120x intelligent zoom, digitally processed in camera.
focus with the 82 on the long shots is poor :(
sx50 devast this in focus and quality..sorry
Don't agree, no 4k for a start
did you use a tripod to make this vid are you Pro
