I read she listened to teenagers on buses etc I've done the same thing myself, Song writing is fun, Read Brian Enos on a far away beach... if You are creative & in a slump it will set your imagination on fire. Peace
@@stormyeux Thank you for an immediate reply & interest! Wow. If you're into how Bowie & Eno made albums & the creative comradery they shared, it's a must! I even recommend this book to non creative people, I was buzzing after every chapter. I had to write a song after reading some sentences or paint a picture, it's that good. Inspiration Hello! ha ha Would also like to add "the william Burroughs cut up technique" was actually Paul Bowles, Burroughs just developed it, Bowie made it great & here we are ha ha One of my favourite parts of the book is when Bono from U2 is trying to get ENo to do a second album & Eno is like "Ugh not this asshole again" LOL Have a creative day Stormy :)
@@huskvnj as a very inspired and creative person, creative processes are always something that interests me, especially coming from brilliant artists like that, so i appreciate!! i think it's beautiful to read into someone's mind and interpretations, have a creative day you too :)
@@stormyeux Thanks stormy, I am just happy people like you are out there. I love LWB, I got into them too late like most. I don't know where you are from but I am English & I live in Sweden now, I used to listen to John Peel radio show & "TAPE" bands, & make tapes for my friends, way before I became a musician. I'm 53 now, had a record deal, had my fun & now just make music at home...I started making music at home in 1987... I didn't have a clue waht I was doing I was just in love with sound & 4 track tape recorders! ha ha I wish you success, but please make music YOU like & F everyone else, if it's good, they'll come :)
Where has this footage been all this time? It's so good. Seriously. Every Scottish person I know, I ask if they ever saw Life Without Buildings. What's the history behind this footage?
Was lucky enough to see them supporting Hefner at Northumbria Uni around 2000. I was (and still am) a big fan of both! Interesting rumour that the lyric in LWBs tune "Sorrow" ("don't smoke in the bed with me") was a direct reply to Darren Haymans lyric in the Hefner tune "Hymn for the cigarettes" ("I love it when the girl smokes in my bed"). Amazing times x
LWB burned so bright for such a short time and I heartbroken that they never made another album other than the live record. I don’t think that they ever came to the U.S.
Steve Lamacq just played this on his Radio 6 show and I came straight here thinking I’d found some great new band. Only to discover this is 20+ years old!! I suppose all music is “new” if you’ve never heard it before….
one of my top 3 songs prolly all time . but i would do anything to be in this room. or to hear any of these groups songs live novody will ever do it like them.
Dry Cleaning is great, one of my favorite working bands. But Life Without Buildings is def a step above, they made something incredibly special, legendary and timeless.
@@benjelinek5318I don’t completely disagree with you but I feel the one thing that LWB has over DC is they have are around longer so they have more of an impact. Both equally unique just slightly different styles imo
their lyrics feels like when you read or hear a random sentence and your brain keeps randomly repeating it through the day

Amazing, love this. Sue Tompkins is a treasure.
This song is 100% genius

Dry Cleaning? Black Country, New Road? Porridge Radio? Girl band? maybe you like them, too :)
@@tvrment Thanks, i check them out
I was gonna mention Dry Cleaning. Maybe listen to Algebra Suicide too!
(Just don't listen to BCNR, it's a band of wankers)
Absolute treasure! Despite being a fan since their first single, I never got to see them live.
Absolutely love Sheldon Cooper on guitar!
Waited years and years to see this. Actual out of body experience watching it
Thank you for uploading this precious gems
Oh joy! Live footage of LWB. This hade made my decade

SUE!!
You people are the bees knees! Come to Australia!
The first time I ever saw a not one single downvote on a video with any upvotes, although given the song Im not surprised. Awesome.
Wow! I just found this. Never knew there was live footage of this band!
Soooo freakin' awesome!! =)
the singer is so cute, how she's so tiny, jumpy with big baby eyes and her voice is so naively beautiful.
Thanks Iggy
The Strokes, but with a lady singer.
she does look like julian lmao
I’ve been wanting a video of them for 15 years now….
Probably one of the most uncoverable bands. Love their music so much
wow, i was getting into them in like January, and now there's live footage all of the sudden! this is a good day!!
same
A criminally overlooked band. Their live album is a masterpiece.
My favourite song of all time
Dry Cleaning should be paying them royalties.
i used to listen to this everyday almost a year ago, and now it feels nostalgic somehow
I used to listen to this everyday from 1998-2002!
@@LauritZenc woah that's so cool!!! i wasn't even born yet!!!
music really doesn't get better than this. this band is so special
Thank you god
So underrated
You can say that again, I am so happy
It's like Mogwai... but with a girl shouting. And in a good way
LWB burned so bright for such a short time and I heartbroken that they never made another album other than the live record. I don’t think that they ever came to the U.S.
Is there any footage of the song Sorrow?
I forgor
i cant belive this. thanks thanks again and again.
this is amazing
Thanks for posting this. Sue's delivery is incredible.
my grandma 90 years old crying-speaking like this style every all night long

My best band from 2021/22 was Maudlin of the Well who disbanded in 2003. Found them in late 2021 though I knew their successor Kayo Dot exists
@@FinngrinderMust go check them out! 😊
That's how you know when a band is timeless!

like Dry Cleaning, these 2 bands are so unique their unorthodox approach is so appealing to me
