- Arsenio is irritated and annoyed when members of
the gay rights organization, "Queer Nation" decided to interrupt Arsenio as he was about to introduce his guest Paul Hogan. Arsenio was ticked off at their protest and decided to respond.
"It's alot of gay people on the show, but it's none of your business that they are gay!" Enough said. I miss the show.
i would disagree because these are the celebrities that younger ppl look up to.. and the average person tries to emulate their style/wardrobe/mannerisms etc.. now, if id emulate someone like Diddy, Biggie, Dr Dre, Aaron Hernandez, tyrese gibson etc.. id like to know that i wont be emulating a homosexual.. those guys play the role of an alpha, but in reality.....

That is openly hitting on uninterested people and then implying prejudice when their advances were spurned. Another occasion was of a gay person walking around dressed up in clothing that did not cover their private areas properly. In other words exhibiting themselves in public where even children were in sight. In those cases the gay men were thrashed by members of the public, but that’s in Africa, where justice can often be handed unexpectedly and swiftly.

But if your gay and untalented you still get in somewhere because your gay or a minority, black, white, whatever, that's just racist and sexist. I get that there was still a lot of stigma about gay people in the 90's, but Aresenio Hall would not have been one of the people to denounce them. As he said, he's had openly gay guests on and in an interview, there were other guests that he had who didn't come out at the time he had them on. You say he was being a bully and he didn't know what he actually believed in, but he had every right to react the way he did because the protesters were slandering him. Not to mention him being a minority, he knew firsthand of discrimination and he would not treat them that way. Outside of that, heckling is just a dick move.

Being apart of the lgbt+ community, I still agree with him. Being in a small position like any minority group doesn’t make you entitled to be an asshat. Don’t create oppression where there is none. They knew of these gay people because they happened to be gay. The gay scene was popular for gay people. Not for all people. He didn’t have whoever the guy was that they mentioned because the man had no idea of who he was.
And to be honest, he was right. It was simple minded of them to have brought it up with him, a minority who was definitely oppressed, especially in the 90’s.
Edit: According to these comments, a black man born in the 50s during Jim Crow was not oppressed because he grew up to have money and a television show, and those two things means that no one can discriminate against you or hasn’t ever. What a world.
