    Thanks for posting. We have Tally Ho in slip 323. We’re in California but have Alon from Rich Boren’s company watching her for us. Marina de La Paz is a very well made marina. Glad she’s there. Thanks again for posting the video!

      Many were not insured . Generally the majority of cruisers cannot afford to fully insure

    Thanks for posting these videos Kevan. I have a sailboat in Marina La Paz but am up in Los Angeles so really have no idea how things are looking down there. If you're able to post an update today that would be very much appreciated. Hope you and your boat are safe and well.

      What’s your boat called and what dock . I’ll take a look . Blowing 25 at the moment . Lots of debris in the water . Going to be like this all day but the worst is over . Neil and his crew were on call throughout . Some damage to docks but 99% of the boats faired well .

      @@sailingmilagro Great to hear. My boat is call SeaQuest (Choy Lee offshore 40). We're on the central dock about 12 boats out as you walk out (away from the rest rooms).

      The boat is fine , couldn’t see the stern for the name but if you have teak decks and a yellow kayak then this boat is OK no visible damage

    Wow-what a mess! Thanks for posting the coverage. My heart goes out to anyone who lost their boat or suffered damage from the storm. I hope no one was hurt/killed. And I thought hurricane season was pretty much over-I guess not!

    My 24 yr old son is north of La Paz at La Duna Centero…very primitive off grid site 500 feet from shore not on other side of an Apache 20 foot high dune…group of 6 bunkered in cement building. But took down Wi-Fi system to save banked solar power, so haven’t heard from him yet.
    Wondering if you have any surge estimates?
    Hoping it wouldn’t be high enough to go over the dune. They are on sand, not cement, which should help drain water. But quite worried.
    Thanks for any info.

    • @sailingmilagro
      @sailingmilagro  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The surge was not big , it just splashed over the Malecon so your son should be fine

    Watching tonight from thailand. Looks like a mess in lapaz. Looks like you made it. I was last in lapaz in 2000. Spent 3 years there living the drunken sailor. It was a great place for that. Surfing in cabo. I ended up giving my boat to a friend in mazatlan. Boats Named rinconada. A mariner 32.
    Got my shit together in 2003 and sober since. Still living the dream at 60 but in asia on my tayana 37 i bought in fiji in 2005. Solo . Best of luck

    It's saddening to see so much destruction. Were most of the damaged boats anchored or moored?, just curious. Glad to see that you pulled through unscathed.

    • @sailingmilagro

      Most damaged boats were on anchor although about 6 sunk in marina Cortes

      No one appears to have a handle on what boats broke loose or ended up on the beach at this time .what’s the name of your boat ?

      I don't actually sail, but I would sure love to. I follow 90 + sailing channels and get my fix that way. Even if I could afford a vessel, at 77 and never having sailed, it would be extremely irresponsible of me to try. I am pretty much of a loner so I would want to be a solo sailor, probably a vessel of about 35 feet + - a few. electric motors and furling gear, twin head sails, one port one starboard. I know the experts all say it slows you down, but thats what I would do. How did you come through the storm?

    • @sailingmilagro
      @sailingmilagro  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi , it was scary to say the least , been through 4 but this was the worst one by a long shot . Not so much because of the wind strength , it was 65 knots . But it was prolonged and lasted over 24 hours which allowed the seas to build up .
