Hi, GMAT score doesn't depend on the admission deadline. To get admission to any top B-school you should try getting a good GMAT (~700 or above). In India most of the applications open around July or afterwards, so you should target having a decent score before that ideally. I hope this helps.
Hi Priyatoshdhara, You may not get as many opportunities as your batchmate with 5-year of work experience may get, but show your experience and transferable skills in your resume, and you will get suitable and decent opportunities. There are people with even higher experience who get decent placements. Remember one thing, you may not get everything- desired salary, desired role, desired company, but if you can get a few out of these from the campus, it will pave a way for you after the campus. Hi, Once you receive your GMAT score, the score remains valid for the next 5 years. So even if they change anything in the GMAT syllabus, that won't affect your score at hand because you can apply to the B-schools for the next 5 years with the same score. Having said that, a few B-schools consider GMAT score until the last 3 years, so you need to check that before applying to any B-school. Hope it helps.

Hi Namrata, Sorry for the delayed response. GMAT algorithm works uniquely. For a few questions you solve correctly, it increases your score, similarly, for a few questions you solve incorrectly, it decreases your score. Also, if you leave some questions unattempted at the end, the algorithm penalizes you by decreasing your score. All this happens dynamically. So, you can say that it's not a conventional exam in which you see clearly how negative marking works, but it is an exam that decreases your score dynamically based on your performance. GMAT score is valid for 5 years, so you can take your GMAT exam anytime but the earliest you can get an admission is once you have a work experience of 2-5 years because most of the B-schools ask for some work experience in this range for admission in 1-year MBA program.

I suggest you start with GmatPrepNow as it is cheaper and the content is very good.
If the admission deadline is January 24 what should be the valid GMAT score then? as to which month to be precise?

GMAT score doesn't depend on the admission deadline. To get admission to any top B-school you should try getting a good GMAT (~700 or above).
In India most of the applications open around July or afterwards, so you should target having a decent score before that ideally.

You may not get as many opportunities as your batchmate with 5-year of work experience may get, but show your experience and transferable skills in your resume, and you will get suitable and decent opportunities.
There are people with even higher experience who get decent placements.
Remember one thing, you may not get everything- desired salary, desired role, desired company, but if you can get a few out of these from the campus, it will pave a way for you after the campus.

Once you receive your GMAT score, the score remains valid for the next 5 years. So even if they change anything in the GMAT syllabus, that won't affect your score at hand because you can apply to the B-schools for the next 5 years with the same score.
Having said that, a few B-schools consider GMAT score until the last 3 years, so you need to check that before applying to any B-school.

GMAT can be given at any time of the year. You can go to mba.com and book your exam appointment as per your preparation. Moreover, the GMAT score remains valid for 5 years, which means if you take your exam today then too you can choose to be admitted to the B-schools within the next 5 years.

Every candidate has his/her own pace to prepare for the exam, so it's hard to tell how long it will take to score 700+ marks in the GMAT.
A candidate may take 2 months or more than 1 year, so it's a very subjective question.

Is there a negative marking for GMAT exam?

Sorry for the delayed response.
GMAT algorithm works uniquely. For a few questions you solve correctly, it increases your score, similarly, for a few questions you solve incorrectly, it decreases your score. Also, if you leave some questions unattempted at the end, the algorithm penalizes you by decreasing your score. All this happens dynamically.
So, you can say that it's not a conventional exam in which you see clearly how negative marking works, but it is an exam that decreases your score dynamically based on your performance.
