The way darts is and the standards are so high across the whole professional scene because of Taylor achievements he basically set standards so high for everyone its going to be near impossible to replicate until the next level player comes but they are going to have to have 70% checkouts and a normal average of 110 115 peaking at 125 - 130. Im sure it will happen but its unlikely to for a long long time.
I think the most amazing feat is the amount of back-to-back tournament wins he's collected. He was literally THE darts player of the 90s and into the early 2000s. It's okay if he lost out on the world titles after 2013. I mean, what left did he have to prove up to the 2018 world finals? The man has done it all by that point and has etched his legacy for years to come. It'll take other darts players decades to even achieve half of Phil's accomplishments.

Anybody watching this in 2022 you are seeing the greatest darts player ever although retired in 2018 in my opinion Phil taylors World and Matchplay titles winning 16 each as well as winning other darts TV majors on multiple occasions will never be beaten although there are some good young players coming through
Taylor had to win that one...he had to for sid wadell..sid had passed away...and taylor was the first to lift the trophy named after him forever more...and sids son passing it on...that was special...sid championed him from day one...and Sid's commentary was the best..especially on taylor...sadly missed that voice..r.i.p sydney👏
His records will never be broken and he was a tremendous player but in the current depth of the pro circuit even he couldn't win this many. I'm not saying he wouldn't win many or that prime Taylor couldn't dominate, but he wouldn't win 5+ in a row for sure. Still an epic legend, playing and being the best for 2 decades! Something special!
There is no doubt Phil Taylor is the greatest player ever to throw a dart his records speak for themselves he has won a record breaking 16 world titles and 16 matchplay titles and has won on multiple times every thing there is to win in darts Michael Van Gerwen is good but not as good as taylor Michael Van Gerwen is young enough but Phil came trough a time when there there was not too much money in darts now playing for huge prize money Michael Van Gerwen is already millionaire but will he be still hungry to win titles in 5 or 10 years time as to beat Taylors records players will have be unbeatable for next 2 decades and I cant see this happening in my lifetime

The WDC was formed in 1993 which became PDC in 1995 which Phil Taylor won and racked up 8 consecutive World Championships. Barney eventually joined the PDC and won in 2005 but never again. So you can see back then WAS BDO and PDC. Have a great Christmas 😉
going to be tough to beat these statistics. it's going to take someone young and talented on the scene..but even then, the feat is incredible. Taylor pushed darts to a whole new limit back then and was far above the competition. It's tough to stay that consistent nowadays with how far the sport has come. Can Littler do it?
