First off, what a beautiful and talented horse.
However.
You should never whip a horse that hard as in 3:36. I understand whips being used for cues but full-on slapping the horse with the whip is far too harsh. Horses have thin, sensitive skin and feel more pain than humans do. If it hurts to slap your own spine with that, it hurts the horse more.
What a beautiful horse.
Nevertheless, it should not be going through what it did. This is abuse, there is no reason to whip a horse. I understand using the whip to apply a tad bit of pressure, like when gently pushing your leg to the horse, to tell them to walk forward. But this was nothing near gentle. We do studies to learn more about animals, and we have learned that horses have very thin skin, and would feel more pain that us, when being hit, we know this to be able to educate ourselves and others on what not to do, to be able to avoid harming your horse in any way.
I don’t understand how people could see this as “beautiful dancing” or “an elegant performance”

As an equestrian, and somebody who has been riding almost 10 years now, I can confirm, whipping a horse is okay gently if you’re urging it on, but SLAPPING it like that, is just abusive. Some people don’t deserve horses.
Edit: Also forcing its head high and it’s neck back like that and making it prance scares it, and it CLEARLY does not enjoy it. #stophorseabuse
