Been following Justin King's tunes for quite some time now. Amazing stuff. Lots of soul in his lyrics and chords in other songs as well. Love the power and emotion I feel when listening to his stuff. Rock on man. Also a big fan of Change. Thanks for the music! Hope there's more to come.
I'm 64 and been playing for years. I'm not sure if this inspires me or time to just pack it in. I love his style nice to see someone think outside of the box :) Peace
Man I remember being 13 years old and watching this. I wanted to play every note he played. And here I am so many years later still amazed. You were a big part of my childhood and you didn't even know it bud. You're amazing.
It's so crazy that this is probably his easiest piece, and its still hard as balls to learn. Super technical yet beautiful and emotional, what an amazing musician.
I feel bad sometimes for Justin... dude was pretty much there back in the late 90's early 00's with this style of percussive guitar playing that was still very fresh and new, but so many people have taken that style and gotten more attention for it... and even other people covering his songs and still get more views than the original.
@HandiAce this isn't a cover! it is Justin himself!:) and he mutes the strings with his left and strums that percussive sound (very quickly) at that part. took some time to get!
OK who are the idiots who voted thumbs down because this music is more inspirational Compared to most acoustic music I hear, I've been learning this style for 4 - 5 months now and I've almost masted this song "Knock on Wood"!! I have also completely mastered 2 Tobias Rauscher songs "Memories versions 1 & 2" and "Still Awake" plus 2 Andy McKee songs "Drifting" and "Heather's Song"
Have been coming back to this ever since my brother showed me a clip at NAMM probably 15 years ago. Absolutely amazing stuff. If you want a more modern take checkout Tim Henson. Not exactly the same idea and he's extremely popular and not the same niche as Justin King. But his use of harmonics is similarly jaw dropping. I don't even know how to label these types of guitarists. Like fingerstyle but with a lot of percussion. It's the coolest thing though.
@Gitbox56 get the parts for each hand down separately, then slowly, by continuously watching these vids over and over, put em together (how i learned it!) the trick to the right hand: close your fist almost fully, just so thumb can rest on pinky nail. then drag thumb across the other nails. give it a bit more flick, and there you go. hope that helped!
@FlipHatesCheese nope, he doesn't upload to youtube (except for a few videos on dresmandrew's account when he was with the band) but he does have an account and comments on the vids every once in a while
Are you familiar with Steve Vai? Today at work, a coworker who I never realized played music mentioned your name and in return I referred him to Steve Vai. Just wondering. Also, it's nice to see such skill paired with innovation in modern times.
i'm not sure if it has an official name. some call it fingerstyle, i've called some of the styles two handed tapping and percussive drumming. t-cophony is a great example of the two handed tapping he has a few percussive drumming peices such as the season, stone (cpx demonstration), festival in the distance, ect. and antoine dufour these moments makes great use of the percussive drumming, as well as drifting by andy mckee
I like how he didn't over bend te harmonic at the end like the other video and just have it some vibrato. Although I like the quality of the other video. Still a kick ass song and guitar playing
It depends on your current skill level and how much time you're willing to put into learning it. Regardless it should be understood it'll take months to get it near perfect. I wish you much luck man :)
That tickled me severely! Thank you! I'm gonna make a video named "Knock on poop" and it'll just be me with my hands tapping on a pile of doody...it's flying everywhere and I'm gagging and sick! Subscribe and wait for that one, TH-camrs! XD
俺の知ってるギターじゃないぞ(褒め言葉)

This deserves more views but then again it's like a hidden gem, so good thing.
This guy & his band are AMAZING! Got to see them 3 times several yrs ago. Catch him if you appreciate outstanding guitar players.
I'm 64 and been playing for years. I'm not sure if this inspires me or time to just pack it in. I love his style nice to see someone think outside of the box :) Peace

this is not his easiest piece
Phunkidifed is easier for me. Left and right hand doing completely different parts is confusing
wow, we need more guitar players like this
Still one of the greatest examples of this type of playing out there.
its funny because his guitar is made of wood and he's knocking on it.
D*mn!! That's a silly coment, jajajajaja nice try, you make me laugh.
Is like draw somthing and call it "draw on paper"

Just means he is wishing himself good luck for his music to reach our ears!!...

夏と春の間のような爽やかな季節を想起させる爽やかなメロディーラインに乗せられた超絶技巧…。ジャスティン先生は偉大よの
I am glad i can see what he is doing... I would not have understood it of i had only heard it without seeing the techniques.

the first song i ever heard by him but still my favorite so far
Tapped his way into my heart
You are fantasically amazingg!!!
This is the only artist I will never pirate.
why does he look like a school teacher who brought his guitar in as a treat for the students
Mughal that is only for you
He looks like he hates his students and is letting off steam in the teacher's lounge after school.
lol

As if this doesn't have a million views.
I'd rather figure it out by ear personally, but I appreciate the offer.

Hey Hugh Grant, didn´t know you play the guitar so fuckin´ awesome! ^^
Excellent
Wow this guy is so good
This is an alternate universe where Jim used his time to practice the guitar instead of pranking Dwight
I like how he didn't over bend te harmonic at the end like the other video and just have it some vibrato. Although I like the quality of the other video. Still a kick ass song and guitar playing
Zappa called it "stunt guitar". Pretty much. I It's very cool. Like, close magic, but on guitar. Like the X-Games, but with guitar.
the best thing about this is the fact he wrote it thats the incredible part n:)
its so cool to see what hes doing about the tapping on the back of guitar. ive always tried it. but i never got it. haha :))
i'm about 87% positive that you will appreciate me telling you about t-cophony a japanese guitarist.
Have you heard of the Canadian Fingerstyle Competition?
thank u

Who are the morons that voted thumbs down? This is amazing!
You're God!

They only dislike it is because they flipped their screen upside down to like it again :D

Bruh...wtf?
Don't forget Mumford & Sons bro... They play from the heart and write their own stuff like a true musician should
