The atmosphere with Dutch parties is always amazing. During carnaval I wasn’t allowed in the party because I “wasn’t in costume” eventhough I totally was. I was waiting to be picked up and I was sitting on a bench in the cold when a couple of seemingly douchy guys came walking by. They saw me sitting there looking kinda down and came to ask me what’s up. I told them about that I was rejected by the bouncer. In of the guys had a furry jacket, kinda looked like a pimp coat. He told me I could wear the jacket to get past the bouncer. I went with them back to the enormous tent where the party was. I put on his pump coat and it got counted as a costume. I got in and found my friends inside and had the time of my life. That kind of kindness from strangers is really something you’ll only find during carnaval.

I’m a 22 year old German and I LOVE partying with Dutch people. I also love their little festivals. Some are one-day only so people give it their all.
They’re beautiful, diverse and warm-hearted people so I’ll definitely go there at least once a year.

Yes we dutch folks are all about throwing big and small festivals.
But birthday parties at the other end is everywhere better than here in my experience.
Depends, sometimes we throw a bigass party without the good old coffee table and go mad
depends on where you live probaly in the country side in the netherlands you can have some big birthday party with like 80 people but yeah not mutch massive drinking fest as birthday party's
It depends. For family we sit all around Some big tables. But for friend i put a 10x4 tent in my garden and its completely different.
De cirkel des doods bah
Because the best dj's originate from The Netherlands, it's crazy how spoiled Dutch people are in terms of party's and festivals. In the summer there are too many party's to choose from and all of them have a line-up with world class dj's. Next to that musicians like to come to Amsterdam so the whole year around there are concerts from the best performers. I've been to many 'party destinations' in foreign countries, but Amsterdam takes the cake.
As a Dutchman I always preferd the German scene and their dj's, things became way to commercial; and they are milking tunes till there is nothing left besides the soulless unorginal garbage that passes for Dutch (hard) trance, hardcore, hardstyle etc these days. The same goes for the raves, the whole scene to my opinion died in 2010, whats left today is just a poor excuse of what it once was.

@@minuterepeater2257 This litteraly counts for any music genre ever. I share the same opinion when it comes to many electronic genres, i mostly prefer metal. But when i tell people i listen to metal they think it's all the same as well. In the end, these type of opinions are just based on personal taste. Because only true fans of no mather what music genre knows how good and different that genre can be.

Love to hear about Groningen! We have so many different styles and clubs here. Festivals like Paradigm (techno), OOST (techno club) but also clubs like copas (latin, reggaeton and more international styles)... Also we have De Tapperij where you basically can party till the sun comes up, I used to dj here and sometimes I went in around 23:00 on Saturday and walked out around 11:00 in the morning on Sunday... If you want a good dutch party experience, Groningen is your place to go!
Haha oost place to be
Er gaat niets boven Groningen.
If you don’t lose all your friends and have 20 new ones you haven’t partied like the dutch lol
And you always seem to lose your friends exactly 20 mins after entering the party and only find them when the party is over. All bringing their new friends along.
Dear expats, there is a whole Dutch country outside Amsterdam. You should visit it once in a while. You will be surprised.

It not just only gives me a laugh when I need one, but it teaches me about my own country and culture, seen through a foreigners eyes and opening mine. I really, really apreciate that and I find it enourmously couragious that these people want to study not only our Dutch language, but are willing to expose themselves and try to make the best of it. Well done, and thank you all, also for your earnest and honest opinious about us, Cloggies. Gaaf!

I was at the gay Olympics in Amsterdam in 1998 and it was incredible, great show. After the opening ceremony all those thousands of people walked to the nearby metro station to get to the city centre to party. The station quickly got overcrowded so they restricted acces. What did the crowd do? The whole crowd started singing “Que sera, sera”. It still gives me shivers thinking back at that moment ...
Groningen is absolutely amazing to visit, most of the population living there are students. i always feel like young people are running the city in groningen. its awesome

Especially Brabant people are partyers. In middle age times we could easily start a party at wednesday noon and then, somewhere around... Tuesday evening go "... Boi maybe it's about time to leave, I gotta do this chore"
(a good example is our tradition called "Carnaval" which we still do once a year)
The rural Netherlands early sixties.
A wedding.
What you needed was;
-a barn.
-couple of long tables benches and chairs.
-3 kegs of beer.
-7 bottles of gin.
-4 gallons of coffee
-2 accordeon players
-5 relatives with a talent for reciting festive poettry.
- 50 people singing a whole repertoire of folk songs.
Good times!
Hahahaha. Although I am not Dutch, I can somehow picture this perfectly in my mind
I love how we all know only Dutch people are watching this video because we're self-obsessed asf but we still all comment English things
Actually i'm from Estonia but planing to go live and work there for a year or two 😃
I live in alkmaar in the netherlands and when i go out and i go home at 04:00 it was a short night. Mostly i party until 08:00 or later cuz the bars are open till 5 and there are always afterparties to go too if you know people
the fun part is it doesnt matter which day you go out there is always people drinking until the morning
me and a buddy of mine used to go out 6 days a week
good times
i took care of a older Dutchmen who had a stroke while visiting family, The family made arrangements with the Dutch government to get him back home. So a Dutch nurse flies into Denver, Colorado, and will leave with the patient the next day. What does the Dutch nurse want? How to get to downtown so he can go out on the town! (The fact that the Dutch government would provide such a service is another topic worth mentioning.)
Groningen is definitely the best city to party, Thursday evenings are the best because all the students go out on the same evening every week
This video leaves you disappointed if you were hoping for an actual how to. So this is my personal experience.
#1 prepare for insomnia. The dutch go drinking before going to festivals/clubbing. 'drinking in' usually takes place between 20:00-00:00. This tradition started because clubs are expensive and it's meant to safe you money, by drinking as much alcohol as possible before hand. The clubbing starts around 1am and lasts till sun up (6 am). However, nowadays will drink themselfs black out drunk before hand, and drink the same amount again when clubbing down town.
#2 have some money stacked. When me and my friends go out, we usually spend anywhere from 50 to 100 euros overnight, excluding coat stashing, cigarettes and food.
#3 drinking games. When 'drinking in' you better be ready for some serious past paced drinking. Popular games are 'bussen', beer pong, fuck the dealer, kingsen, horse race. These games are known by probably most dutch people. Some more experienced players will know: mijnenveld, schoppen 7, 3en, 'ship captain crew', 'super bussen', and the most intense game I personally ever played: Tour de Bier. You'll partake in the Tour de france, or a comparable race, where you drink certain drinks to cross kilometers and height differences.
#4 don't get in destress when someone doesn't make it through a night. People throwing up is very common. It happens. Don't be surprised when a dutchy gets nasty in the bathroom and the next minute he's back for round 2 in that chugging contest.
#5 dutch festivals and clubs are crowed, and this is an understatement. Watch your pockets because you'll be squeezing your way through croweds every minute of the night.
#6 personally i'm not big on doing drugs, but if you're gonna do them, have atleast 1 sober friend to 'spot' on you, and do not take entire pills. Dutch XTC doses have increased 8 fold in the past years. Most beginners smash them to pieces and each take parts. Do not take more if you aren't feeling it 'yet' after 15 to 30 minutes. It will kick in, trust me. And most of all, don't drink alcohol whilst doing drugs. Dutch weed is strong shit, if you're new to the whole thing, a mix up with alcohol will fuck you up.
That's all i can think of right now
Haha.... The Dutch never cease to amaze me when it comes to this.... And lemme tell ya, I'm Dutch myself, so that counts for something.

Small difference between the Netherlands and especially Groningen compared to the rest. The fact that for example in the USA pubs close at 11 PM already does mean people will have to drink a lot in a short time. Yet in Groningen where pubs are open 24/7 you can take your time to drink, the night is long and there is no time limit to you going out. So chill, relax and drink at your own pace... just enjoy a relaxing evening to night and maybe morning out.
We used to drink 20+ glasses of beer, 3 nights a week in the South. Work hard, party hard. Sunday morning with a huge hangover on a bike trip for 80+ kilometres. Come home, have a shower and fresh as a daisy. Do not try this at home! If you run a bike everyday your liver can handle a bit of alcohol.
i remember a british mate i knew from the internet, he and his crew ould visit NL like 3x a year for various trance and hardstyle parties, saying they were like nothing they had over there, especially when it came to sound quality and light tech

She's right. Amsterdam is the party city for the tourists, but Groningen is the true party city in the country
If you like the Dutch party's or not... it is all about the party's you chose to join. If you had much fun at a party, well no reason to change that party.
But not every party is about Dutch songs, or techno/ house. If you like metal/ hardrock, blues or Jazz or what ever music style you like more (yeah even Latin American music/ dances)... in the bigger city's there is always a bar or dancing with another sound.
Personally I like the alternative clubs a litte bit more, although I love the eighties clubs too.
But it never kept me away from clubs that have various music styles. Because too much of the same music will make you daft or at least boring.
We do have latin festivals tho
Hoe ik het doe:

Thanks im dutch and i mostly eat if im party, i cannot drink
The problem is that these people talk about the Netherlands but in fact talk about Amsterdam only and have not seen the Netherlands.
