    It works! What can I do to make it more safe?

      Better you don't use such a tent, but a fabric that doesn't burn so easily. Then there are anti-fire sprays. You can also use it to impregnate

      Lol, it's look cool but I don't feel carefull in this tent... Try old army tent from different fabric than this highly flammable plastic.

      Wow, what a neat stove, did it give off enough heat?
      One thing that would help is put a small "lip" on the bottom of the door entrance to keep the coals from falling out. Or you could orient your stove from vertical to horizontal to keep the coals inside. I really like the lid design where the tent stake holds it in place. A spark arrestor on the end of the stove pipe might help to lessen embers burning holes in the tent.

      Maybe put something behind it . I’m not sure what it’s called but I’ve seen it on TH-cam some other bush-crafters use it . It’s fire proof silver stuff. Lol .

    Looks good. I can't think of any way of improving it. Would go good in a little snow shelter

    I like your straightforward approach, you've made it simple and it works, and it may now be refined.
    Good size for your tent and it should put out a good amount of heat.
    Being able to boil water and heat food is also beneficial.

    One mod is 3-4 adjustable legs and a small ash pan.
    Use threaded rod and wing nuts for the legs and make a small ash pan from an old small steel frying pan.

    A small suggestion: a spark arrestor at the top of the chimney.

    • @AgeofTheNorth
      @AgeofTheNorth  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand the purpose but the sparks don't seem to pose any threat to the canvas. They have so far just flied up. The chimney is long enough for sparks not to be able to fall down and remain hot, it seems.

    Cool little heater. Only potential safety issue, it looks like you used electrical piping for exhaust. If this be the case, it will release a toxic chemical when burned.

    I really like your trial and error testing of selfmade projects. Keep it up👍
    Did the rocks at the bottom stored heat so they can function as hot rocks for when it's getting colder?

    • @natliekla
      @natliekla 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could maybe build up some rocks around it?

    Make the vent adjustable.. I think if you could slow the fire a bit you might get more heat. Setting it on an aluminum cookie sheet might protect the floor and help stability. Great little rig good idea.
    Peace

    Kind of like how you put that fireplace in the shelter a few weeks ago.. but use a steep hill and a tent

    If the top were a little wider you could boil water for tea . Looked like it would warm you up on a cold night.

  • @luciferbringeroflight5341
    @luciferbringeroflight5341 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Usually I'd have a good idea. I like the little guy. Keep us updated on the situation.. anyway. Use a steel drum to build a smoker/grill. Or do what my friend did and forge one off a hill. You put a hole on top then join another hole on the steep slope. Some how he used that to heat a larger tent. But cool. As long as the tent still stood...

    No nyt on urheilujuhlan tuntua tuon "kamiinan" kanssa. Minulla on projektina rakentaa vastaava, mutta ammuslaatikosta. Kaikkea kannattaa kokeilla. Ja oli ihan kiva ja erilainen video 👍

    I was wondering did you add that plate in the tent or is that a special tent? Looks awesome and simple to make., if you have the right tools.

    • @AgeofTheNorth
      @AgeofTheNorth  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I sewed the plate in place. Attached to both outer and inner canvas of the tent. Crude but works!
      The entire setup is like $50 if you can find the right things 😁

    What if it rains? Is the hole the chimney goes through well isolated?

    • @Brabbit1974
      @Brabbit1974 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From my experience, rain or snow that drips in usually just evaporate on the stove.

    • @AgeofTheNorth
      @AgeofTheNorth  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The hole is so small that the amount of water will be tiny

  • @looselycollected7505
    @looselycollected7505 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'd be worried about using the galvanized pipe that you have. You never want to heat galvanized. You can make a poisonous gas that will make you sick. The fire might not be hot enough to do this, but why risk it?

    • @Brabbit1974
      @Brabbit1974 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Once an initial burn in is complete all the galvanized material burns away and is safe to use in a tent there after.

      The draft is excellent so I'm not concerned. Thanks for the info though :)
