Great job love your video and I never thought about insulation on the floor I thought about it on the walls and the ceiling and never the floors great job guys great job
Aswesome ! Love to see creativity become a true genuine and unique reality in the making of camper shell ..let, your mind guide your own sweet ideas..great work !!
The part I like, and attracted me the quickest, was how the (I don't know how to explain it well) the part that goes lateral just above the side of the truck bed: the walls. I like the fact that it was cantilevered, with two uprights per side. That makes me think it's a lot stronger than everybody else's type of build. And won't shake apart as bad going down the road. I have drawn up plans for at least three or four different slide-in campers. I've yet to build one. I did turn a huge school bus into a motorhome, with my father's help. And he and I built an RV from a step van. I currently live in a sleeping room. I don't have access to a place to work on such a project, or I would build one for my pickup truck. There's another build on here, that also is by a father-son team. My favorite part of that slide-in camper is the top-hinged, rear, half-size door. "Truck home Switzerland" (all one word) is the name. I thank you for the some good videos.
Yeah. I’ve been wanting to do this for my 83’ F350. I can’t justify carrying that load on the front and back walls. I think I’m going to go this route, and just set up those air gaps for storage.
@@visamedic Thank you for the reply. I'm afraid I'm not going to be very enthusiastic on the subject right now, due to my wife's health taking a bad turn, and having to deal with that.
Right away I new it was not Canada -- we cant find straight lumber 😂 The 2nd clue it was not North America - metric! Canada is metric but we still do alot of building in Imperial. 3rd clue it was European - torq head screws - nice, but no one using them here that Ive seen. Looking good - I would have glued and screwed! Looking forward to next vid 😁 Cheers
I agree with @NovaSupernova, I watched a helper we had told a dozen times not to put his fingers under a board cut three off. When he came back to work he lasted till lunch before he was fired. Bossman had to work him half a day before he could fire him.
Yes the floor is 2cm armacell, all the rest is done with 4cm armacell. So this thing in insulated really good. Lots of people using armacell for their van builds in europe
What has surprised me is only using screws? I've built a lot of projects in my life including boats and always used screws and glue. Screws come loose.....
I have a 99’ 45” between the wheel wells. It’s older so I wanna cut the wheel wells back an inch on both sides so I can fit a ready made camper. 6.5’ bed. Idk if all truck campers are 8’ or 6.5’ Gutted they weigh around 800-1100 lbs.
Been watching a lot of videos on how to build your own truck bed camper I think people are missing something why not start with a ladder rack and build off of that and then you got the whole bed of the truck for space
Just do a sketch and add up the plywood needs. Each piece will have a typical number of support pieces. If you have a certain area to cover with sheets you know you'll have maybe another 20% in frame cost as an example. As for a lumber list, you'll need to stop the video whenever you see something else to add. Another method I use is to build a model with cardboard or foam board, and include all pieces that you would use to build the real one. Hobby shops sell all sorts of miniature lumber. My current favorite is hobby lobby.
My first truck was a quad cab dodge dakota in canada, since then i have never owned a non american car. So yes i really like the american style and power for sure. My next truck/camper project will be a dodge ram i think :)
Way too much electric guitar. Too many close ups of cutting, drilling etc instead of showing the overall build. I couldn't figure out where you were in the build.
Confusing to the point of distraction! Jumping from a cut or measure every few seconds might be good for teenagers with empty heads but definitely NOT the way to make things coherent!
I didn't like watching him cut the plywood with his hands under the wood not smart. And I wonder how he is going to stop the rain from damaging the wood that will fall down the tail gate and cab. He has over hang on the sides of the bed but not front or back.
Welcome to the World of SixPac campers. They built using the same system. Good job. Bob
The build and music! Tip top!!
Great job love your video and I never thought about insulation on the floor I thought about it on the walls and the ceiling and never the floors great job guys great job
The gloved hand under the plywood while sawing made me cringe…. But great video!
Indeed
The difference between a clean cut and hamburger 😬
I just started my truck camping its so much fun. This video is big help in my future projects or up grade on my camper.

There’s loads of torx screws in the US. Many decking screws are.
Irony also lots of trades even in Europe are done in imperial measure.
@@roundsm18 No not really 😏
I have a dodge Dakota 99 I use it for welding... Nice 👍🏼
Bud, never cut with your fingers on the underside of something. They will go missing. I've been a carpenter for over 40 years, trust me.
No u haven’t bro

very good your videos. I'm building a camper and the information is very important.
Very clean
Sweet! I’m making a truck camper my self … so far a 20 part video series lol… still lots to come … nice build
Beautiful
Well made!
nice foam lining on the bottom, i would assume thats for insulation

Did you use non treated ply? Any advantages in using treated ply like a H3.2?
What has surprised me is only using screws? I've built a lot of projects in my life including boats and always used screws and glue. Screws come loose.....
Put a nail in 2 2x4's n pull em apart then try the same wit a board screwed
Yes and drilling directly into the end grain instead of a pocket hole style entering in an angle
bien...........................hermoso.
Ottimo lavoro bravo 👏👍🎞
I just build A diy camper. I forgot to think about got to secure it to the bed!!! How does your secure yours?? I need advice?
Good tune. Justin Johnson?

It would be much better if the loud rock music was turned down and more voice explaining the build

Gutted they weigh around 800-1100 lbs.
Yes be careful not putting a too heavy cabin in the back.. Build a camper yourself or might get some sort of gofast camper set up (much lighter).
Is this the 6' Dakota bed your building? How can I get your prototype?
Did you frame with 2x2’s or 2x1’s?
Nice job, to me using glue give more structural rigidity
yes you're right.. we used glue for the walls and roof
well if i ever need to be reminded on how to saw wood. i know where to go,
Not sure why you’re not glueing it also?
Why the 350 blocks? Just curious
Been watching a lot of videos on how to build your own truck bed camper I think people are missing something why not start with a ladder rack and build off of that and then you got the whole bed of the truck for space
There are so many reasons that wouldn't work as well. Insulation being number one
Awesome build!! Considering doing one myself, do you by chance have rough lumber list and or total cost

Don't use Pu or SIKA ? Already heavyweight! Woods not traded against moistures etc.

no glue //?
Using 2x2 for the studs?
Should have used 2 by 4 .
What is the thickness of wood please
The sidewalls are 8mm, the main structure 4×4cm and 4×6cm

4:07 , do you really consider that, the best spot to put your left hand?
Glue???
I would not wear gloves when sawing blade could snag it and grab your hand

The music is unbearable. Otherwise it's very interesting.
Next time please lower the music 🎶 please

I gave the video a thumbs down,...because of the music,...could have done without it.

Your Rock And Roll ruined the video. If I want go to a concert I will.
