Having watched this interestingly from a laymen's perspective having had a US and MRI that shows a 10 centimetre tear in my rectus femoris which has retracted, resulting in a large lump three quarters up my thigh and being six months in now, I am not confident a repair can be achieved, but hope something can be done. I should see a consultant within about two weeks. I'm 67 and slipped on sloping wet rock, tried to save the fall, but pulled my foot back, which resulted in me falling on my knee and my body falling backwards. It hurt. Doc thought the lump was fluid which would dissipate eventually. I could move my leg quite well so was obviously still connected and was without much difficulty for about four months. I knelt for half an hour to do some work at home and something changed, though not in great pain, but limited in walking very far, particularly bothersome on downward sloping ground.
