How ironic! I used to have a long hair, but I went to the barber shop and then formed a band like this! Even we played some Catfish and Circa Waves tunes!
Nosaj this video features Billy Bibby on lead guitar. He was replaced by Johnny Bond aka Bondy in August 2014. So that's what we're talking about. Their guitar playing approach is different but the point here is Billy is not just playing that riff, he wrote it. Bondy is psychedelic and fuzzy, Billy is more melodic. Billy is now frontman of his own band Billy Bibby & The Wry Smiles founded in autumn of 2015. Fantastic songwriter, great voice. www.nme.com/news/catfish-the-bottlemen/94378
So much potential. I love their style, but somethings' lacking and I can't quite seem to put my finger on it. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to seeing more stuff from them.
Iest123 oh shut up bibby was great, but he doesn't rock as half as hard as bond does, the solos and lead parts bondy makes are 10 times better than what bibby could of done
Iest123 I went to see them in Coventry a few weeks ago, and you're right but with all due respect the only riff that the crowd 'sings along too' is pacifier, that is all, the riffs and guitar are just way more complex and overall better in the ride than the balcony, can you even imagine billy writing the anything solo, the postpone solo, the twice solo, no, bondy is just a better guitarist
Iest123 1. Learn where places are, Coventry is no where near London, I've also seen crowds, and how can crowds sing to cocoon it's the same chord for the first bit, don't get me wrong it's a sick song but I don't get it, Billy is a simple guitarist which you know I respect, yeah it sounded good but was boring to play, it's all just single notes with bibby, he's just a boring guitarist, where with bondy he mixes it up, and like I said rocks 10 times harder than bibby does
Iest123 I'm not saying billy is a bad guitarist I'm saying he's a boring one, and when I say 'rocks harder' I mean bondy is more big whacky sounds and solos and is more rock n roll where as billy is just another generic guitarist
I agree with you lest123, Bondy is soulless in his guitar playing and he makes shambles out of The Balcony. The riffs in the Balcony are timeless and do stick with you. Elliot when you are talking about the Anything solo you do realise that it is a very simple solo just hidden behind a flanger/phaser and heavy distortion? Not that hard at all! I have been to 13 gigs and the songs from The Balcony are the ones that stand out.
ImaginativeGiraffes main riff: C/G - C/G - Am - F pre chorus: G6 - Am C/B - C/G Chorus: FM7 - Am - G6 FM7 - C/G - G6 bridge: Am - C/G this is for just in case you still dont know how to play it
Keep the lead singer as he's quality bin the rest of the band no passion at all , just need band mates who are willing to "Have it " as the gallaghers would say .
Jack Hamilton I'll admit the instrumentals are very similar. The Catfish track is faster paced and has it's on melody. I wouldn't call it a rip off, but I would say that alive inspired this song.
I've seen better bands in pubs! Not original, band are average, singer's trying too hard and chords nicked from a thousand other bands. Listen to The Amazing Snakeheads and get a life.
andy webster. It has been proven that you can play so many songs using the same 4 chords, you can do the same with loads of chords and tbh there is only so many chord progressions u can put together but anyways thats your opinion ☺
The drummer is actually amazing
Every time he says "thank u very much" my heart skips a beat
My favourite new band at the moment! Love this song.
sameeee
Van is the man.
man is the van
footycarlo12 men is ven.
LadWithAGuitar ven is men
I like trains
Hes definately a man
The Welsh indie rockers kicking off the proceedings in style!
Only lately gotten into Catfish and the Bottlemen and I guess you could say I'm upsessed
obsessed
I don't think they are capable of making a bad song
THEY AREN'T
não
Oxygen
This aged well 🤭
Glasgow is a great fucking song, Oxygen is good too. Personally this or Fallout are my favs
i'll never get over this song.
I keep listening to this band. I like them. The tunes are catchy.
Best band I' seen in years.
0:49 sounds EXACTLY like the record. Van is a damn good singer
Is it just me who has noticed how vann is using a SQUIRE telecaster JIM ROOT OF SLIPKNOT signature... But unexpected.
I thought the same! But I think Jim Root's black Tele has a white pickguard...idk it's awesome!
+Arturo Linares he had a white one as well, he would've just swapped the pick gaurds
Maybe van likes slipknot? Would not expect that
Guitar Drive also the bass player is using an epiphone, strange
Guitar Drive van said in an interview he doesn't even know who Jim root is, he only got it because it has one volume knob and 'looked cool'
Big up Billy Bibby.
Prime Van McCann. Reckon he can still produces performances like this vocally? I’m unsure. Brilliant and raw.
I feel like he sounds pretty close to this. But his voice has definitely lowered since this
ugh i love this
I might actually be obsessed! Just saw them live yesterday...and now I'm watching every video TH-cam has to offer
i can’t love a band more than i love them
Best of the best.
Seeing these support the little comets on Friday!! I can't wait!!!!!
Amazing!
great band with the power indie sound. they played at the plug sheff and the vic derby last year.
Coolest band of 2014
almost better live than on their track...
Descended from the heavens
Awesome song
THEY WILL BE BIG!
and to think they won the Brit :'D so proud
Yes they are...
What a nice surprise!
I wanted to join a band like this, but my hair isn't long enough.
How ironic! I used to have a long hair, but I went to the barber shop and then formed a band like this! Even we played some Catfish and Circa Waves tunes!
@@Alexis368 So maybe the key is to start with short hair and grow it as you write your songs... it makes a lot of sense to me.
@@carlosfcnunes That's the way!
Billy Bibby! :-)
Ah, the Billy Bibby era
***** Guy called Johnny 'Bondy' Bond. He was in another band a while ago
Epiphone T- Bird bass.
+State Of The Wild sorry I'm pretty late, but I believe it was to focus on his solo career.
+State Of The Wild We don't know. He declines to answer the question in interviews. Currently making good music though as frontman of his own band.
Best.
Van is a fucking liddd! Deffo my inspiration
❤️
Saw these support Little Comets, were fucking class
They supported little comets a year ago? Fuck, I just saw little comets support them hahah
Sounds like album version.
Is he playing a signature Jim Root Telecaster?
Love 'em
Anyone know what bass that is??
If anyone could help, that'd be great :D
I think it's a firebird
Bondy's guitar is better...Just my opinion.
Bibby is great too.
Billy is great at writing the riffs.
What are you two talking about? Like I literally have no idea haha

JulieBB
Maybe that's why their new album wasn't as good!
Opinions vary, but yeah, The Balcony for me. Wish them all the best though!
So much potential. I love their style, but somethings' lacking and I can't quite seem to put my finger on it. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to seeing more stuff from them.
I feel as if the the music needs to be a little heavier to go with the singer's voice, but this song is still amazing stuff.
Now they've got Bondy
Van's headphones dropped I think he shook his head too much, is that why he wears earpieces instead?
it's that squier jim root slipknot signature? Oh come on haha
Abdul Rafick yup haha
Abdul Rafick lol u should be thankful for even hearing Van's guitar. They literally don't mix it live
❤️❤️❤️💃
I want Johnny Bond
+Louis Tyson The guy who wrote the riffs in the first place isn't so bad...
+JulieBB way better guitar tone for this band billy bibby, was the back bone of catfish wrote most of the music
+manro 8 Billy's new band Billy Bibby & The Wry Smiles is here btw - 4 tracks, all different. Quality. soundcloud.com/billybibs20/sets/bide-your-time
+JulieBB cheers i played with these in sheffield the other year and catfish as well good tunes for sure.
Me like too
I likeeee
frickin tidy song
Just me who prefers Bondy?
Iest123 oh shut up bibby was great, but he doesn't rock as half as hard as bond does, the solos and lead parts bondy makes are 10 times better than what bibby could of done

anyone know why billy left catfish? sucks considering he wrote a chunk of the balcony
Talks a bit about it here but we don't really know www.bestnewbands.com/interviews/billy-bibby-life-catfish/

ImaginativeGiraffes

bridge: Am - C/G
this is for just in case you still dont know how to play it
thanks
How old is the vocalist of this band ?
22
darude - sandstorm
What bass is that?
Epiphone Thunderbird Classic-IV PRO
***** Its actually a Gibson Thunderbird Classic IV, but the Epiphone is basically the same just cheaper
Keep the lead singer as he's quality
bin the rest of the band no passion at all , just need band mates who are willing to "Have it " as the gallaghers would say .
My God, are we still taking directions from the Gallaghers?
Who cares what they would say, as I recall, they could only barely speak English.
nobbynoris your names called nobby for reason because you are a fucking knob!
lol rekt
Van lowkey looks like lil xan
this is a rip off of Alive by Oasis lmfao
maybe.. but as long as he makes it his own somehow
Jack Hamilton I'll admit the instrumentals are very similar. The Catfish track is faster paced and has it's on melody. I wouldn't call it a rip off, but I would say that alive inspired this song.
1 minute in meh nothing special
Too bad they don't write more high gain shit like this, the rest of the album is really boring
are you joking?
Kane McPherson no I'm not , I honestly think the rest of the album is quite shit
Leonard Crainie Listen to Tyrants again that is not boring what so ever
Sidewinder is heavy as fuck tho??
literally not one album filler on that album. belter of a debut
I've seen better bands in pubs! Not original, band are average, singer's trying too hard and chords nicked from a thousand other bands.
Listen to The Amazing Snakeheads and get a life.
