- Wrestlers from Georgia Championship Wrestling visit Williamson, WV in 1982. This presser was set up by my father, Ted Williams, including Paul Orndorff, Tito Santana, and Stan Hansen. The event also featured the Road Warriors, Bruno Sammartino, Jr., Michael Hayes, Tommy Rich, Pez Watley, Ronnie Garvin, and Mr. Wrestling II.

Looks like a high school or jr high,....Verne Gagne was really into promoting all kinds of wrestling and of course you realize that wrestling’s major audience is about that age,.....heck I was one of them,...graduated in 83.Wrestlers were always doing promotions....and demonstration matches,....a very different time AWA ? You went to church on Sunday,.....came back and watched the good guys beat up the bad guys on TV! Remember hulk hogan got his “Say your prayers and take your vitamins” from his Time here in the AWA. He kinda quit that,....to bad...but wrestlers LOVE there mood swinging characters,...good guy one year,...bad the next! It’s called drama!

Ted Williams and the others that put this together was truly nice to have done such. To believe in the youth back then with such fire with the love of God is so outrageously outstanding!!!! The hearts of the youth of this group I would hope have known that God graced them to experience true kindness on a genuine level. Awesome of your dad and a few others to have set this meet and greet up. This gave happiness and joy to the youth and those a little bit older. Just awesomely great!!!! Thank you for sharing. Maybe he himself felt uncomfortable with all the screams and adulation they were getting. There were boys and girls asking questions at an autograph signing. I didn't see anything inappropriate going on.
