    With the exception of data analysts, the rest of the jobs are just high cost. Don't go to college for anything else than medicine and real engineering (like civil and electrical engineering - do not consider computer science/engineering, you can learn this for free or near free).

      Civil engineering depends on the time and on the location where you are. It also depends on what you’re also interested in. You probably will have highest amount of opportunities with construction engineering, but construction can be stressful due to lots of responsibility, and the work itself is demanding with travelling, working odd hours etc.
      Other branches may potentially offer less job opportunities, and some will also offer lower wages.

      Civil engineer requires 4-yr Bachelor degree in university. If you study a 2-yr college diploma, you are a Civil Engineering Technologist or Technician. Engineering technologist/technician is not one of 24 prioritized occupations announced by IRCC in 2024. This means that you will need very high CRS score for ITA (invitation to apply) PR. How high? The last 4 all-program Express Entry draws had CRS cutoff at 511, 505, 517, and 496 respectively. Alternatively, look for a province for easier PNP. For PNP, avoid Ontario and Quebec (French).

    What about Marketing? Isn't it a good option nowadays? Because you know all induestries require at least marketing and communications expertise, I guess

    • @MakeThatChange
      @MakeThatChange 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes they do, but it’s one of the easiest programs out there, many people study it and therefore there’s lots of talent out there competing for the same positions. Since there’s lots of people, the salaries are also lower, so the ROI isn’t amazing in our opinion.
      If you’re a newcomer, with English as a second language, it might be even harder for you because most marketing roles require good writing and communication.

      @@beingpartofsomethingspecia7242 By ROI we generally mean the speed with which you will be able to pay off what your spend on your education, based on salaries you can expect upon graduation.
      Entry level marketing jobs often pay near the minimum wage or around 50k annual. This is way lower than professions we've discussed in this video.
      As for the difficulty in getting PR - it will all depend on the pool of candidates in a given year. For instance, there's recently been a change to Express Entry, where the government decided to prioritize 80 specific professions. Marketing is not among them

      Most Canadians attend universities, not colleges due to low tuition for local residents. Toronto and Vancouver are the most expensive cities in Canada. Stay away from Quebec due to its French requirement for businesses (Bill 96); by 2026, Quebec plans to make French mandatory for economic immigration.

    • @MakeThatChange
      @MakeThatChange 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      mechanical and electrical engineers also participate in construction projects.
      We think Civil Engineering is less compelling compared to Mechanical or Electrical engineering given the amount and flexibility of the job opportunities. Having said that, Civil Engineering is also an attractive option with decent ROI

    • @smwk2017
      @smwk2017 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      "Civil Engineers 20012" is one of 24 prioritized STEM occupations announced by IRCC in 2023. This means that you will face with lower CRS cutoff during a STEM Express Entry draw for ITA. If you are foreign educated, you will need to deal with provincial engineer governing body (such as PEO, APEGA, APEGS, and APEGNB) for Professional Engineer license. Since your undergraduate education is non-CEAB accredited, an individual assessment will be made on your education. You can look up Professional Engineer licensing requirement from the province of your choice. CEAB = Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board.

      Maybe, the challenge with Civil Engineering is that it is less versatile than ME and EE and depending on the situation, it might be more challenging to find good opportunities right out of school. ME & EE give more industry flexibility as well.
