When i was a kid in Sunday School they used to give us these small wooden barrels with a coin hole in them to send money to Israel to support building the Kibbutz, its amazing how its grown since the 60s

This is perhaps the most beautiful place I have ever seen in my life. I live in Israel and have seen beautiful kibbutzim (there are lots of kibbutzim), but I forgot how beautiful they can be. And it is a simple, functional, modest and non-eye-popping beauty, founded on humane (and usually secular) values

I've lived in this kibbutz for 6 months, as a volunteer, back in 1982. It has a big place in my heart, the place is next to paradise, and the kibbtzniks (the inhabitants of the kibbutz were really nice people, many of them survivors of the Shoah (Holocaust), with whom you could learn a lot.)
