They really need to start putting only series 5 cards in the spotlights. Cards that you might of skipped on in previous weeks or months. For example, I skipped us agent, pixie and cannonball. It doesn't look like they'll be in the caches anytime soon and there's no way I'm spending tokens on them. I'm missing 7 cards and I'm at collection level 10500. it's just really annoying to not be able to complete your deck and have to skip getting new cards because you might waste 3 caches on nothing. Maybe instead of 1000 tokens for a card you already have, they can guarantee you a card you don't have.
Only series 5 in spotloghts just cus you missed some? LMAO. Ppl still need to earn series 4 cards too, and tokens arent easy to come by.
@@deepfriedxans7270 series 4 cost 3000 tokens and are more likely to go to series 3 in any potential series drop. If you miss a series 5 card. It could take a year to get it. Use your head mate
I have half the series 4 cards lol I brought meik yesterday to prepare for June so when he comes around I can get his variant and phenixs variant plus the new card
True, the "you already have this card, take 1000 Collctors tokens instead" bullshit ruins my day.
OK, so maybe just series 5 doesn't work for everyone, lol. But when you get down to like your last like 15 or so cards, it seems to take forever to get any sort of progress. I think they need to make it easier for you to get cards you don't have regardless of your level. Because for me, I'm losing patience at this point, the game has just become so slow to progress.
You never see Kang or Howard the Duck in spotlights except for that 1 time 😂

I am actually glad to have some breathing room. My fear is that they will panic and buff these cards after they drop and then we are months out from seeing them again.
Agreed. I have a couple cards I regret not grabbing cause they buffed the card since or buffed other pieces to make them worth it. Cannonball is the one at the front of my mind.
The main reason I want Sersi is to change junk on your side to usable cards. Rocks, Hood, any Goblins thrown your way, Shes basically anti Annihilus and junk but also works well as synergy for those decks. Now instead of relying on needing Sentry + Annihilus, you can fall back on Sersi to change that Void into positive power.
I'm 100% saving keys for that week for her and that Phoenix Force variant. Tokens I'm dropping for Arishem.

Grandmaster should be a 2/3 honestly. Ravona is and has a much stronger effect.
The reason I kind of like him at the 2/0 is specifically to pair with Ravonna. Grandmaster as a 1/0 is kind of insane. Though I do agree that in-general 2/3 would make him better to use in most decks.

I love playing Selene with Goblins + Galactus. I wish she had better variants though.
Imo Selenes best variant was her debut spotlight one and I'm sure very few people have it. Luckily they'll release older spotlights variants (I think they said it would be after a year) for sale in the shop.
Personally I'd pay a premium in gold for a few spotlight variants I missed like Black Knights debut spotlight variant (as long as the mark up from the super rare variant price isn't too much more-but we all know it will be unfortunately)

Phastos is busted. Nakia is 3/3, and phastos has twice the effect. Sera is 5/4, and phastos has twice the effect. Not to mention, phastos is an on reveal. So if you play him on wong or kamar-taj, he'll become unreal levels of broken

Phastos can be changed since its in june. Phastos buffs your deck and not hand. Which is way les good than hand buff

@@WinningbyWisconsin What I am saying is you only need say a Lizard and Captain Marvel in the other Locations and she will give them +5 on t5. Then on t6 your Skaar has been discounted by Namora buffing them

At the end of the day, I've seen success in games where nearly all of the paying went towards cosmetics and every new playing aspect like a new character was possible through dedication to playing. Snap has both locked behind massive pay walls right now and it's super frustrating that a f2p player can save up 3 keys and still not have a guaranteed shot at the card they want. Not to mention if they want two back-to-back even if they don't want the next 4

Caiera was a complete miss for me. I thought that card would be amazing and dominate metas. I dont use the card in any of my decks anymore. I still use Armor, but Caiera just doesnt seem worth 3 energy for the decks she could go into when you could pay 2 for Armor instead

If I don’t have nebula nor hope summers, which one do you recommend to get with tokens?
Week I’ve got like 2-3 months there of barely rolling keys to save up my keys because a lot of these cards are either arse or not worth getting because of the surrounding cards in the spotlight. The only cards I’m interested in spending keys is the Sasquatch week and I’ve got almost 6k tokens I’ll save for Arishem. Good news tho because if the leaks about deadpool and symbiote cards!
I've felt the spotlight variants have been hit or miss since the first month. first month was mostly great!
now they're either filler fodder of art that I'd rather pay 700 gold for than a spotlight key.
the spotlight variants are not what they were making them out to be when they spotlight cache first started.
I wish they'd just make the keys easier to get and make spotlight variants avaliable for purchase after a couple months or something.

they don't feel special enough as spotlight variants. because if they're supposed to be this "ONE WEEK ONLY" special art of a card that wont(?) ever return, they just feel kinda underwhelming.

I agree with you Alex, they have too much fodder and a the bigger issue in my mind, WAY to many repeats. But also, when I'm picking cards to roll for, I go for the top ones of the month so cards like Hercules I don't have and am glad it's in the spotlight. Cards like Pixie, Cannonball, and Hercules I'm excited for bc I didn't pick them up the first time

Grandmaster is one of my favorite cards it does surprisingly well in my discard disruption deck
I feel life Nocture and Sage are fine cards that would be useful if you are missing any of the other cards in their spotlight cache week but neither feel like must haves so if you have or don't want the other cards in their weeks, you should save your keys. Namora seems like she could bring about a new archetype or reinvent an odin deck... but good callout about junk being prevalent (it is weeks away so we still have time for the meta to shift). Sasquatch seems like he is strong enough to reshape the meta and seems like he will end up pulling Skaar into the meta as well.
I love Sasquatch, Its going to make itself right at home in my most consistent deck.

Love the first segment of the video, you voiced my thoughts exactly Alex. Hope something changes on that front, maybe Series drops are the way so we can get some of these bad cards out of the spotlights.

Dark hawk is my main I have both of this spotlight variants in ink and gold and his Dan hipp now I just need the upcoming one

Ari Shem is definitely my most anticipated card. Super ridiculous. However it is important to note that its randomness is much more random than Sersi’s. I believe she will actually be better than you think. I see it as a one time use Lockjaw that always gets a “better” card than the ones at the location. Seems really really good actually

The only spotlight card I don't have(aside from new releases ofc) for the next two months is Havok. Guess I'm saving 🤷
So what if we had one time per month where we could pick the fourth card in the Spotlight and if we had the card, then we get one of the previous spotlight variants for it instead in that slot. Like I said, it would be once per month and we have to pick a card that has had a spotlight already, but the card has to have been out for 1 month before we can select it for this once per season thing. Good Idea or am I huffing hopium at this point? lol
As a high level player who plays a lot of this game amd really enjoyed this season, 2 thing really bother me: that I have to wait 5 months for a particular spotlight card, while they keep recycling Modok and x23. And I know it seems lame, but I really wanted a Captain America buff, he's just way to iconic to be a mid card, HES IN THE $3 STARTER BUNDLE FOR GOODNESS SAKES. Anyway thank you Alex for caring about what the regular joe feels

I was pretty excited for Thena but seeing that she’s grouped with 2 cards I already have I’m less incentivized. I only have about 5 cards from s5 and gladiator and grand master happen to be 2 of them

This “Series 5” only new cards thing is starting to get annoying, but looks like they need the money.
I think I'm more excited for June than May. Might go for Sage and Sasquatch tho
The 1 extra new card a month (the one they now release with the season pass) totally screwed up my (and im sure tons of other players) planning. Before with just buying the season pass and maybe $20 to $30 worth of good bundles each month i was able to get pretty much every new card (I still skipped a few but it was possible to get them if i wanted then).
Although $30 to $40 a month on the game isnt even dolphin territory its still a decent chunk of cash. So imo spending that much $ and still not be able to get all the cards i want seems ridiculous.
And >m a day 1 launch player so i have no idea how newer players are stickng with the gane when the new player experience hasnt changed at all yet theres way more aeries 3 cards to collect. Imo the devs need to let new players pick like half a dozen series 3 cards once they hit CL 500, that way they can at least pick a bunch if key cards needed for a couple of archetypes. They devs could also let players pick a collcetion path, like Destroy or Discard cards, which makes it so any series 3 cards they unlock will be part of that archetype. It was frustrating for me when i kept unlocking random swries 3 cards that didnt work together but it was when 80% of the playerbase was in the same position. However now theres tons of vets with complete or near complete collections that any new player who pushes to infinite will get stuck paluing against. Imo thats the type of experience that will cause many players to quit and everyone knows games need a cinstant influx of new players, especially competitive game, so the way SD is still handling card acquisition across-the-board has been horrendous imo.
Thanks Alex for bringing this issue up. I dont expect SD to make any significant changes but the more CCs who bring these issues up the higher chance SD will do smth about it.
Your view is very off. A full AAA-game is usually priced at 60-70 dollars. 30 dollars a month is 400 dollars / year. You don't consider yourself to be even a dolphin? Yeah, I get it; Some people spend more than you, but that is irrelevant. (There is always a bigger fish and a small whale still eats plankton just like The bigger ones )

Yeah caiera is decent but highly situational and as you mentioned not exactly relevant at the moment. I do think caiera will be useful with sasquatch, along with black swan and skar
Nocturne with storm, prof x, Legion and quake might be a new lockdown archetype package.
Sage + ms Marvel seems promising.

I got the Sebastian shaw variant from the other week and that along with the selene variants are just bad, they arent good looking variants i want to use. Obviously they are nice art cards but i dont want to use them
the algo showed me a deck with caiera in phoenix force, maybe that could be nice

Hopefully there's some kind of change to hercules because he's such a unique card and I want to see the more traditional move style decks get some love.

SD does this on prupose. Exciting cards are paired with trash or cards that the majority of players alreadyhave. That paired with the fifth card per month and everything releasing in S5 with tougher odds to open makes for a MISERABLE experience with the spotlight system. Also why is series 5 pool almost twice as big as series 4?
lol Alexander making me feel like im the only person 100% skipping Arishem week. I am a new-ish player and fully f2p so my keys are very important to me and I dont have Black swan or Hercules and I just dont think risking a key for Arishem is worth it. I think the idea of it is fun but not really worth it overall. I plan weeks in advance for spotlights, doing the math to see if i have enough to get the cards i want. Like Sasquatch week I am counting spending all 4keys to get everything (worse case scenario) I really want Sasquatch and Ravonna since I dont have her yet. Im on the fence on Havok. Like if im super lucky and pull Ravonna and Sasquatch with my first 2 keys, do i risk a 3rd key for Havok?

You need to save your keys for future caches to get cards you want. I want phoenix force and gladiator so I'm going to save my keys to get them. I managed to get snowguard , nico minoru, knull, blob, valentina and mockingbird as the random card

i partially agree that some variants in the caches are not that good but i disagree on spotlight caches being weaker imo week 2 is amazing also with the variants. Then there are many weeks where i want to spend at least one key week 8 looks great where i will spend more and that copycat week i think it's 12 is also a jackpot for me.

Lady deathstrike knull destroy deck with namora wong is going to be slept on. Mark my words guys. Single location destroy namora can be a whole new way to play destroy. Also potential to just drop cosmo in a lane, whatever 1/2 drop in another, then wong/namora/odin. 23 power cosmo and no goblins or widow kiss, then 20+ power second location, and 17-20 in the wong location maybe throw a star lord or rocket raccoon to pump it. Could be sneaky. Also potential to just run goblins in random namora decks to keep your locations isolated. Seriously think namora is being underrated.
Imo these next 2 months are pretty lackluster. Really looking forward to the Gwenpool season!

For me personally, and I’m sure I’m in the minority here, I’m actually saving keys for Caiera and Selene. I’ve been using your galactus/anni deck for the past couple months, and the only piece I was missing was Selene(I’ve been running Howard the Duck instead, for intel). Also the spotlight variants for both are sick.
And there’s a use case for me for Caiera too. I’m still playing high evo/she-naut occasionally and Caiera is just perfect in those decks 😊
Obviously, nothing revolutionary there, but high evo/she-naut is just one of my favorite decks 👍🏻 👍🏻
Sage looks really cool, but that’s a week I’m good skipping.
I do kinda want those Skaar and Black Knight variants, but hard pass on Namora. I really like playing Black Knight discard, and Skaar is about to become really relevant with Sasquatch coming out.
Gonna have to make some tough skips the next couple months cause July looks insane.

Thena into Angela Kitty into Elsa Kitty looks promising. Also Elektro or Jubilee into Sersi isn’t bad.
The spotlight system is already flawed because it takes away agency from the player to get what he desires and SD is making it worse by removing value by adding so many underplayed and pool 4 cards.
I personally don't spend any money anymore except for season and gold pass - I'd spend more if I wouldn't feel like they are trying to milk us and give us as less value as possible.
I’m still not sold on nocturne… One of the big things about location changing cards is surprise factor and nocturne is very predictable. I don’t see her being as good as people claim her to be, for now it’s a skip for me but let’s see if it’s good. Only time will tell
If jeff didn't exist, she would be the best move card. Cards you can move without ironfist/ ghost spider have always so far been good. But it's good to be skeptical and it doesn't hurt to wait

Content creators said certain new cards aren't good, "don't spend spotlight keys on x". Now people complain these series 5 cards aren't attenable unless you spend 6,000 tokens, caches usually never have 3 series 5 cards. Its hard to predict what cards will be meta defining, since the meta changes a couple times a month or the best deck changes often.
Ravona , build up 3 and 4, then blow it up with sage and grand master her with 3 energy to spare ribs, kill it with taskmaster turn 6
When it's turn two and you threw down goose mid on turn 1 only for crimson cosmos to pop up middle location
Sage looks like a Mr. Negative card.
Glad someone else noticed the supremely mid spotlight chaches these upcoming months, prolly gonna be going for ravonna pf and if possible arishem but yeah :/
