I feel the same way, from the U.S. I feel like a majority of city pop is about night life, but Tatsuro’s music is brighter and more cheerful. I understand why they call his music for summer, especially FOR YOU. I tried introducing Tatsuro to my American friends but they think it’s derivative and sappy. I guess it sounds different from a Japanese view compared to an American view. Personally, I think the music is masterful and some of the best sound quality I’ve ever heard for the genre.
For sure,, I did order all the vinyl collection~ TATSURO's song company my whole overseas days year and years. Now I am prepare to going back, I bought a vinyl player for Tatsuro and so many city pop vinyl, and I am so happy for that. I recommend everyone I know to listen to Tatsuro~~ and my family really like it. My next wish, I can see his performance in Japan~ I believe it will be the best day.
I really love the presentation here. It makes it feels like we're playing a videogame, which is currently a HUGE part of the current era's pop culture, and its aesthetic was also made in form of games from the 80s-90s, the era when Tatsuro-san and a lot of artists were at their peak of the so-called City Pop.
