I do this but run 200 str 150 dex 150 con, using shield rush instead of reverse stab for the fortifying shield rush, and using cross cut for the full 3 onslaught perks. I found not being in onslaught to just be worse most of the time since my focus is more on burst dmg and self-sustaining off of leech. Definitely my favorite weapon combo in the game right now! I was running the same and using the Greatsword for that big burst damage. Reverse stab doesn't seem to bring much utility and only a tiny amount of extra damage over a heavy attack. I would much rather get the fortify from shield rush and use a heavy after a stun to give me the empower on all my follow up attacks. (Tip for shield rush: if you don't take it's extra passives it has a shorter animation, garunteeing a shield bash to land straight after)

Hey ty for vid! After your gladiator guide, I tried playing in light armor and took a lot of damage haha. Before I always played medium sns spear. But i usually died quickly in a root ice spike. Felt like I had nothing to counter ice gauntlet. This build with rootbreak medium seems like the answer to that!
Absolutely! Against classes which rely on roots and slows you are going to counter them really hard. The only real weakness of this build is stuns and staggers like hammers
I prefer raider build personally. Just because it let's me chase and lock down people more. Steadfast has such a long reach and it staggers. So raider is excellent for chasing ranged or killing healers. But if you want to brawl in 1vX or group fights then gladiator will be better
Has anyone done the math and testing to verify if the Arboreal Physical Ward gems and amber gems in weapons is more damage than other options? Expensive gems to try out.

@@jefwoot Are you using light armor or medium armor? In any case I strongly suggest running 200 con. 150 dex and everything else into STR. the difference between 150 con and 200 con is very big. If you wear light armor you will be extremely squishy and you will have to practice dodging and movement. Using your greatsword defensive abilities at the right time to give you the survivability you need. And make sure to position yourself correctly especially in arena so you don't get smacked by too much damage. In medium armor you can facetank a bit of damage but in light armor you will get melted if you take a lot of hits. Also don't forget about your blocking, you can block many attacks in this game, sometimes blocking is better than dodging. Just make sure they don't rbeak your block. And then the golden rule of PvP is always, try not to drain your stamina into grey or you will be in big trouble.
@@jefwoot the difference between 610 and 625 is noticeable but not massive. Mainly it is the weapons damage which is the big difference. But even in 625 you will feel squishy. The TTK (time to kill) in the game right now is extremely low and hopefully the coming combat changes will address it. It's not so fun feeling super squishy in full 625 legendary BiS gear.
I don't really like crosscut that much. It forces you to be stationary too much and it is extremely easy to dodge. It can be powerful if you use it from defiant stance so you can't be interupted but overall it's inconsistent and ineffective against skilled players and i would have to sacrifice a utility ability to grab it. Relentless rush = slow, empower, heal/root and mobility. Skyward = rend, disease, stagger, and can remove defy death or fortification. Steadfast strike = stagger, 40 stamina, healing, CD reduction Crosscut just doesn't provide enough value.
Good guide mate, but I have had to put the Greatsword away for a while. It just feels way too overpowered and I'm not enjoying PvP a much being able to delete people lol. I miss the dueling when I use GS lol
@@jiggyspice6809 no idea where you guys are coming from, GS is underpowered compared to ranged on our servers, everyone is ranged meta. Can barely catch people with their haste stacking and 1 shots.. Even with all the gap closers it is not enough, and then you hit half of what range players hit for :

On my server we see OPR matches where 70-80% play musket with pocket healers and it is completely game breaking how overpowered they are. So i feel you on that one. In the ranged meta if you want to have fun in OPR i recommend finding a 5man group with strong melee classes and a healer. I don't sign up for OpR without a full premade any more so mostly just playing arena these days patiently waiting for the musket nerf.

Put obstacles in the way, they will have to be skilled to hit the shots at the right time and rewarded with high DMG for doing so. They may even need to be closer which puts them in more danger. Rangers are ok in arena but trash against healer teams. Why? Because of the small space and 2 massive pillars - aka the map causing them to be worse. Rangers Not used much in war. And average in open world because lots of terrain and objects in the way - which explains why the opr map is the issue.
Yeah you totally can go full heavy with this build for sure. But there are other builds that would be more viable in heavy armor though. You can check out my "gladiator" build on my channel, that one would be better suited for the heavy armor style.
150 int? You mean dex and str? I run 150/150 Dex and str for the highest possible base damage and also added damage and benefits from the dex and str bonuses such as critical chance, dodge cost, thrust damage (leaping strike and reverse stab and steadfast strike) and the light and heavy attack damage from str, etc.

Very interesting, I've yet to try out the full leeching build but i really do want to try it out eventually, it sounds fun!

Nice, hope it works well! When i tank i use steadfast, rupture and crosscut. And on sns i use all the defender abilities just for the taunts.

Is sturdy shield working it does not seem to do anything?
It does work but you will not see much benefit on a round shield. It's best used on a tower shield
