I think the biggest issue is that when streaming first started popping off, it was an EVOLUTION of the format. Watching TV was annoying because a third of the runtime was commercials, you either caught the program when it was on, or you missed it... If you're lucky it might wind up on-demand (lol remember that) or you'd catch a rerun, PLUS you had to watch shows weekly... But streaming was INITIALLY an alternative that circumvented all of the downsides of broadcast television AND it was the cheaper alternative. You didn't have commercials, the programming wasn't neutered because you could do things on streaming that you couldn't do on broadcast TV (besides the premium cable channels like HBO and Showtime.. which was more money on top of your regular cable bill), you could watch it whenever you wanted... And THE BIGGEST benefit was that streaming shows USED TO release as a full season, so you didn't have to wait a full week to see the next episode you just watched it at your convenience. "Convenience" was the big selling point. Watch TV how and when you wanted to without the fluff and nonsense. But over time, all the media companies saw the success of Netflix and wanted their own streaming platforms, so they all started pulling their shows from Netflix to put on their own services... And while this was happening some of those newer services realized that they could maximize hype and the average length of a subscription by trickling out content weekly, rather than dumping a full season all at once... Even though having a full season all at once is OBJECTIVELY better for the viewer and one of main reasons people initially left cable for streaming. So now we have 50 different streaming services, all with their own content... But none with enough content to appease the average viewer for very long, meaning you'd need multiple subscriptions to get a reasonable amount of content. Streaming killed cable just to become a worse and more expensive replacement.
@secoTheSonicFan Streaming isn't worse than cable... But it's getting there, and it's also getting more expensive. And unlike every other platform, which can basically just show their own shows and movies, AT LEAST with cable you watch programming from all of them. Plus the hassle of searching through 5 different services to find something isn't convenient. So all of the appeal of streaming is gone. It's not cheap, it's not convenient, it doesn't have varied programming, AND the release schedule is worse than/as bad it was with Cable. Streaming used to be the shit... Now it's just Gen-Z cable.
@@TheQuietTimesI think the biggest thing people are forgetting is that Cable subscriptions locked you in for a whole dang year. Googling a streaming service is way easier than the TV guide too.
There's also churn which is when you binge watch the sows you *want* to watch, cancel your sub then jump to another service and repeat. Usually you do it on a free month trial so you are really hacking the system. There's a reason why even if you just subscribe to 2-3 services leading to maybe 30-40 a month streaming services are usually a net negative. No repeat customers after as you said, exclusive content but not enough to make a longstanding customer appeased forever. Also costs of a TV show is always an issue. Stranger Things isn't a cheap show, iirc I think per show it was like 20 million dollars or something ridiculously high for a *TV* episode.

Netflix killed TV but then everyone got into streaming meaning people had to potentially subscribe to different streaming platforms. Yeah I got that PlayStation Premium for a whole lot of games I do NOT have time to even play And man I know you said you not playing Control but damn that game is a W
Not an hater on streaming services when they were kind of a new thing but yeah now there is nothing good to watch on Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, Discovery +, etc. imo they used to be good when they had bangers but now it’s like they we only get 3 or 4 good shows/movies/games and the rest of them are dogsh!t. That’s why I’m getting a physical media collection where I can have the movie/show/game in my hand and keep it in good hands along with buying of selling it or you can emulate the older bangers that have good writing. Inside Job so I’m told was a great show, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance was my personal favorite. Cancelled in favor of *shudders* cuties.
They redeemed themselves somewhat with Arcane and Squid Game, but it remains to be seen whether or not that will follow through in the new seasons.

Invincible is the only show I love 100% through and it’s because I’m seeing my favorite comic moments animated. Yet streaming cancels so much good content it sucks

The Narcos series were fire Netflix Originals.
Streaming services have evolved to the point where it’s basically just cable all over again.

I still watch Netflix but this is a very good video which is awesome and informative
