A Serious Study of the Best "Name-It-and-Claim-It" Verse Ever: The Mark Series pt 43 (

  • This, right here, is probably the most powerful "name-it-and-claim-it" verse in the Bible.
    Mark 11:23-24 (NASB95)
“Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him.
“Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.
Honestly, I really struggled in prep for this study. At first I found myself wanting to just make sure that this passage wasn't used for the kind of stuff Kenneth Copeland teaches.
But I sensed that, in my desire to avoid a particular interpretation, I might be blinding myself to what the passage is saying. So, I took a different approach, one that I try to always take but one that was particularly difficult for me to do this time around. I took myself out of the debate over "name-it-and-claim-it" teaching in the 21st century and instead sought to thoroughly understand how this radical passage makes sense in the context of Mark and the rest of the New Testament. The result has been a really rewarding study on the power of prayer and the reality of faith in the midst of suffering. This passage doesn't fit "name-it-and-claim-it" and it doesn't fit cessationism either. My hope is that I can bring clarity with this study and stir up faith. Faith for miracles and faith for suffering.

I took care of my husband for 15 years after he became disabled. I prayed and prayed for God to heal him and I was assured in my spirit that He would.
Our twins were 6 weeks old when he became disabled. The doctor gave him a year.
They were 14 years old when God totally healed him - by taking him home to heaven.
I thank God every day for the miracle of 13 years that my boys had their dad. And even on the morning he died, I thanked God for taking him home and relieving his suffering. I told him that it was okay, he could go, and we would be okay. He took one more breath, and let go.

Thank you for this teaching. I recently lost my son after a long battle. Many people were telling me to rebuke it and while I had zero doubt that G-d could have healed my son despite all medical information to the contrary I also had a heart that maybe that wasn't his will. My name it and claim it friends insisted that G-d always wants good health and happiness for all his children. When I finally lost my son this weighed on me as a personal failure on my part. I wasn't strong enough or intentional enough to rebuke it in time. G-d is sovereign has been my mantra and comfort at this time and your teaching helps me to affirm that G-d's hand is not subject to my shortcomings. Thank you.

This is something I've had many discussions with people about. Sometimes, it isn't in God's plan to heal someone. Paul spoke on this when he referred to the "thorn in the flesh." We don't know what he was afflicted with, he never tells us, but we do know that he asked God to heal him, and God told him no, that His grace was sufficient. We may not always know the reason that things happen the way they do, and sometimes it's a terrible thing that's ongoing. But I'm still convinced there's a reason that things happen the way they do, even if we can't see it for a very long time

Hey my brother, I hope I might encourage you if I can. I have been healed several times, but I had to work my way up to it a little at a time.i didn't just decide on day to believe. Believing is not a mind thing. It's a heart thing, or spirit if you will. I began by healing a simple fever or flu which would normally take a week to suffer through and I went from 3 or 4 colds a year to none a year. That built my faith to be healed from arthritis. I don't really know if I had more faith, or if it was less doubt. You see, doubt will spoil perfectly good faith every time because it is being double minded. In Mt. 17:20, Jesus upbraids the disciples for their unbelief. James said a double minded man can receive nothing from the Lord. So we need to conquer doubt, and that can take a lot of work. If we could really believe with no doubting we would be seriously dangerous. However, and this may shock most church folk, I don't pray and ask God for healing because I already know it's His will. I use my covenant authority to command healing! You see, Jesus didn't say to pray and ask God to move your mountain, but He said to speak to the mountain and not to God! So I speak to my condition and I curse it and command it to go in Jesus name. I also talk back to the devil and laugh at him and tell him that Jesus has won the victory. I tell him he's a loser and to go back to hell, because it's not working, because there's a new sheriff in town! I was determined to be healed from pneumonia and by morning it was gone. I don't let the devil win! However, I had to learn from a good teacher. I have been listening to Andrew Wommack for almost 20 years. Hope this helps.

I'm someone who happens to believe that healing and wholeness is provided through the finished work of Christ. I became so persuaded of this that I've been trusting the Lord for my health, solely, for almost the past decade now. When I say solely, I mean it. Have I had challenges? Sure. Believing in healing and learning to walk in it doesn't mean there won't be challenges. It's not any different than maturing in your new identity as a born-again believer. But I can tell you that I've been healed of everything that came my way and have experienced years of freedom from sickness in general. I'm not saying it's always been easy and the healing wasn't instant in most cases. But the Lord has been faithful. So that's my testimony. It's a long story on how I came to make this decision and it's not one I made lightly. But I was convinced. Simple as that. Besides if I can trust God with my eternity, I don't see why I can't also trust him for a temporal need like my health. But I think our beliefs is the biggest factor ultimately. Just my two cents.

It was a statement of faith. I agree. But just to be clear, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego didn't just say that God could deliver them but that he will deliver them.
"If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.” Daniel 3:17‭-‬18
They were right in the end. They had faith and believed that God will deliver them not just that he might deliver them.
      God bless.

My personal view is to be careful saying God told me (can't remember exactly phrase) it tends to make people think a voice in the head. I think as we abide, God changes our wills, desires, hearts. Phil 2 God works in us both to will and to do. These new desires line up with Gods will and hence as we pray these new desires God always answer positively as they were His will initially. We can also have faith that as we abide God will change our desire to be like His as He promised.

Even if the king changes his mind and not try to kill them they still wont bow. The furnace was super hot. The soldier that got too close died instantly.

If it is fair to blame Paul for Trophimus not walking in the light of his healing, we must also blame Paul for the failures of Demas and John Mark to continue with him in the ministry. Neither is fair to Paul. We don't have authority over human wills, and neither did Paul. It is no more reasonable to say that God wanted Trophimus sick for some reason than to say that God wanted Demas to forsake Paul for some reason. No one can prove that Trophimus stayed sick a long time, either. This is truly a paper-thin verse on which to build an anti-healing doctrine.
Yet people build a castle on this verse. "Paul had a healing ministry but couldn't heal Trophimus!" Watch out! Paul's Lord could not heal the sick at Nazareth, either. This proves nothing other the people's unbelief, which is stated as the reason for their failure to receive healing. The fact that Jesus left many sick at Nazareth does not prove that God wanted them sick and was unwilling to heal them supernaturally. Therefore, the fact that Paul left Trophimus sick at Miletum does not prove that God wanted Trophimus sick and was unwilling to heal him supernaturally.
It is also possible that Paul prayed for Trophimus and that Trophimus followed Jesus' instructions to "believe that he received" when he prayed, but his healing had not yet manifested in his body, just as the tree that Jesus cursed did not appear dead on the outside right away. We can't prove whether or not this is true. The eight words about Trophimus's condition are not enough to prove anything.
Why build a doctrine on one exceptional case, where we are never told why the man was sick, or if he remained that way? Wouldn't it make more sense to build a doctrine on the rule rather than the exception? Rather than groping for some silly excuse to stay sick, build your doctrine on the crowds of people in the New Testament who were healed and the statements made by the Lord and his disciples under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit! No Scripture says that you cannot be healed, but plenty of them that say that you can be healed. Base your doctrine and your believing on them!

When I was diagnosed with Cancer in 2019, I could never pray for healing--it didn't seem like the right thing to do. It did not feel that I deserved it, nor did I lack faith that God could heal me. I truly believed it was God's will that I have Cancer. Two years later, when I found out that my Cancer was resistant to therapy and there was nothing else to do, I was completely unaffected by the news. The doctor was a bit surprised. When I listened to Mike's study it made total sense to me that God's intentions come to us in our desire to pray for something. ‭‭Luke‬ ‭18:1‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Scripture say that Jesus said we ought ALWAYS to pray. And then gives a parable about a woman continually asking a judge for justice, and this parallels the parable with how we are to have persistence in prayer and how we are to be dependent on the Father. “Cry out day and night to Him”.

Lon that’s interesting because Paul says “Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving;”
      ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭4:2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
We don’t have be earnest and vigilant to breathe, but we do in prayer. Prayer requires intentionality to set your mind on the things above. Breathing is instinctive, and requires no intentionality.

Yes, I've heard several times that if my faith was sufficient I would be healed. I've been prayed over, annointed with oil, brought before the elders and prayed over more. All I experienced, though I believe God is more than able to heal me, was shame, being told of my lack of faith. Who would believe God wants me to live in misery, unspeakable pain, and grieve over my physical decline in mobility, loss of career, homeownership, and enjoyment of all I once was able to do. It was difficult enough to wrestle through all the doctors before MRI's were available, before they could see what was happening with my spine. Vertebrae growing closed in neck and low back, herniated and missing discs, and notable alignment issues caused by genetic issues of an over curved back. I still had to try to work and function to raise my family like that - single working mom of 4. I was as active in my church and community as I could be, taught Sunday School for decades, etc. and was accepted as a deaconess in my church, yet told I had insufficient faith. God has spared me from harm from a heart attack, He brought me out of having flatlined during surgery, brought me through 26 surgeries, but won't heal me. Sounds rather strange doesn't it. My kids are grown with families of their own, and having been overtaxed in trying to help me as much as possible over these last 5yrs where I've had more than 10 surgeries, that their faith is struggling too, and I'm a burden to them- keeping their distance and seemingly losing respect for me. My family was once close and active...very sad. I don't ask God where He is, as He's always with me. However, not unlike Joni Erickson Tada, I long for healing, not just of my body anymore, but of my family and finances as well. He's with me always, I couldn't possibly endure all this without Him. This last spinal surgery was the single most painful experience of my life, leaving me not knowing which way to pray, for Him to take me, or help me live. Yes, I get professional help for trauma and depression. I'm alone in an apartment after having been a homeowner for decades, these past 5 yrs...I don't pray to be healed as I used to, I pray God grant me "what it takes", to be a good and faithful servant to Him, and to bring glory to Him and His Name. Just thought I'd share my story with you. BTW, I turned 61 over the Winter, don't look my age nor the part of a spinal surgical patient, I'm told I look like a lovely 45yr old....

Faith is something we don’t earn! This is so powerful. It’s not about us producing faith or conjuring it. It’s trust. I have a couple times in my life prayed for something with faith that wasn’t my own. This was very helpful to me in understanding that faith is something that comes from God and not something that originated in me. I have people in my life who follow word of faith false teachers and I struggled with it myself. My focus was on me completely chasing what I wanted. I wasn’t focused on God for Him. Now I am. I will never go back to that way.

Such a great word “faith in suffering” is truely a hard lesson but super character building. I broke my back 8 years ago and have chronic pain and frustrating bladder and bowel issues, but I’ve learnt to leave it in God’s hands and even worship him through my pain at times!
I do often worry that some people focus so much on the “hey God might not heal you” that it could impede faith inducing miracles, but I’ve also suffered through the frustrations of feeling like ‘I’ just needed to get my faith high enough, or the people praying needed to, and it is hard when we put that pressure in ourselves when as Mike has explained, it belongs with God.

Thank you for such a complete and thoughtful review of prayer under the new covenant. I used this verse when my son was severely injured in a motorcycle crash and broke his neck at a high level and was so paralyzed he couldn’t breathe. It seemed like a mountain that could not be removed without God. It took many months and years for him to have his breathing restored and to actually become a walking quadriplegic. I will always be thankful for this passage for God’s promise to ask for things that seem impossible. Yes, God stayed with us in the struggles and the pain and I know you are right that our faith is small, but God seemed to be directing us to believe in Him.

I'm fairly new to this channel, and since discovering it I've been totally consumed with random videos showing up on TH-cam. I absolutely LOVE the way Pastor Winger breaks down the nuts and bolts in passages, and looks at it from every angle. I've seen some where he shows two ways to look at a verse/passage, helping you have your own lightbulb go off to the correct understanding.
This passage in Mark really hit me brought a fuller understanding for me. There are so many times where I might pray for a person's healing, or salvation, or guidance in general, etc. But in many situations, in most of these things, it's not always clear what God's will might be. We certainly don't know all the details of a situation that God has, so it can be difficult to pray with certainty for a particular outcome. Typically opting for "Your will be done" may sound like a cop-out to some, believers and unbelievers, but it is the true summation of our request. We sincerely want God's will to be done, and to align with that, regardless of what our personal predilections otherwise. That is where the total trust of God comes in.
There are times that the Holy Spirt indwelling us gives us a firm conviction on how to pray. During the years of COVID, I have been struck with a few firm convictions like this. One was during and after the 2020 election, where I was admittedly confused about the results as they were being announced the morning after the election. I poured my heart out to God, my confusion and dismay, and how I'd felt so SURE where his will was leading us. I was suddenly hit with an impression, more a SEEING of the words rather than hearing, to "Pray for all that has been hidden to be revealed." I've been praying that, fervently, that exact phrase. And as the nearly three years since that day have passed, I've been astounded at how many things God HAS revealed!
The second big one that comes to mind is a situation where news about a high school classmate having some kind of stroke, embolism, something undetermined. His daughter was asking for prayer on FB, and he'd been found unresponsive on the floor in his home, was in ICU, and the doctors didn't think he'd live the night. I was quite literally gob smacked by the Holy Spirit, to PRAY! PRAY NOW! Pray for his healing! and it tore through my soul and I prayed intensely, then for I have no idea how long, until exhaustion I guess, and started again the next morning. I was fully confident that he was going to recover.
I'm just saying that there have been a number of times in my life that I knew I was fully in God's will when I prayed specifically, as he actually led me to have that confidence. Many times I know with confidence that I'm praying within his will because of what scripture alone tells me. But those are usually the "thy will be done" cases. I just love knowing that I serve a Creator God who knows the end from the beginning, and will guide me with specificity when appropriate.

This was an amazing look at healing and I never thought about faith for suffering in that way before. The bible doesn't teach us to think of others before ourselves, it teaches us to think of others in addition to ourselves, it teaches us to think of only 1 person before ourselves, that is God.
Aside from God the bible explicitly teaches us to think of ourselves before others, because how we think of ourselves we think of/towards other people.
And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
      Mark 12:29‭-‬31 KJV
You cannot love your neighbor if you do not first love yourself. You cannot believe that Jesus died for others unless you believe Jesus died for you, you cannot believe that others are worthy of forgiveness unless you believe that you are forgiven by God.
Edit: you mentioned worrying in your last paragraph, you aren't supposed to worry about anything or anyone, because worrying denotes a lack of faith and a lack of belief.

I was taught that prayer that "works" miracles has to first and foremost be aligned to the will of God. So first we seek the mind of God, then we pray for the mountain to move (if we are to expect a miracle). Similar to the teaching here.

@@susanthroop7041 Perhaps you are right. But I'll tell you how I see it. And I think there's something valuable in this view. The Bible is a beautiful book. It gives a multiplicity of perspective e.g. that of the righteous man, the ungodly, God and Heaven and the kingdom of darkness. Miracles in the Word are God expressing himself and humans label it "miracles". A miracle is what we humans call the workings of God that we are unfamiliar with or think we can't understand scientifically. But for the Christian, we realize that all of life is a miracle. We are surrounded by miracles and wonder, many of which we take for granted. I personally believe in the miraculous and charismatic working of God today. I live expecting miracles because I try to be conscious of the fact that I see miracles all the time (all of creation is a miracle spoken into existence by the sovereign word of God!). But I don't think medicine is unmiraculous. I think thinking that miracles are part of everyday life opens my mind to the beauty of life and the expectation of God turning up in unexpected ways, including the so-called "miraculous" displays.

    • @republiccooper
      @republiccooper 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@susanthroop7041 I think mine is a pretty biblical view though. Miracles don't break natural laws because the most natural law is God and his love shown through Christ. When a plane flies it doesn't break the laws of matter, physics and gravity. It uses them. Faith that gets God to respond or take notice isn't magic. It's just a higher application of the laws that God himself set up. That's how I believe it is (because God is unchangeable, moral and doesn't contradict Himself, and doesn't arbitrarily make and break rules). That thinking just has me believing that God can turn up at at any time in anyway He wants. It keeps me observing the wonder of life and expectant for God showing up without limiting how He'll manifest. Maybe it doesn't suit everyone but it's how I see the world. I think it's a valid view too.

Your teaching about faith when God says no softened my heart in an amazing way. I've heard several teachings in the last few months to a year about God's sovereignty and will, mostly from Chris Roseborough and Joni Ericson Tada. And Justin Peters. My limitations are similar to his. But yours, especially the logic of faith in suffering broke my mental habit and desire to be angry at God because I haven't been healed.

After hearing sermons from so many.......and actually delighting on some of the false teaching( because it looked good, sounded right) but then each time I pray and after asking God for everything I need to ask. Something inside me just kept pushing to ask for more in debt knowledge of God's word, to know Him better. I am going to be honest that in the past I've open Bible and read through a passage......and it didn't make any sense to me. Now years later I read again and it tells me.something very different.

Of course we can pray this as christians, but God's will for christians is completely different from God's will for Jesus. God wants us to be well, to have a meaningful, impactful life that is a testimony of his goodness, leading others to Jesus and our heavenly father. So we can pray this prayer and be confident that only GOOD THINGS will come - because that is God's will for us. God bless you!

In working through years of chronic and worsening physical pain, it was so valuable and uplifting to hear Christians who've suffered more and longer than me talk about how rich their relationship with God became through it. I know the Lord used mine to develop in me much greater compassion for others and to help me slow down and focus on things of eternal value.

What an excellent teaching....too much gleaned to comment on all, but most enlightening is the God initiates, we respond to His revelation in our spirit.... HUGE...this happened to me while praying in my prayer language, not asking for anything in my own thinking and not for the healing that HE graced me with behind the wheel of my car one night. The Holy Spirit downloaded the truth of my healing to me in my spirit behind the wheel of my car and from that moment I BELIEVED! I Have not suffered again in 3 yrs from that night and I will not again because He insured me, NEVER AGAIN.
And the fact that we don't have to MAKE ourselves believe for one's healing is right NOW affirmed by the Holy Spirit to my spirit, only in retrospect of the prior story in conjunction with this teaching, on how to pray for others at the altar.... It's so clear to me now! No more angst to conjure that belief, but to pray the Father's will. Whew! What a blessing and am so grateful for your clear explanation and thankful to the Holy Spirit! And only watched it twice through, back to back and a few spot listens after that, lol! You say it's your theory, but I say it's right on target with the truth....thank you for all your hard work, hours of study so as to bless the body of Christ. May the LORD bless you, keep you, lift you, make His face shine upon you in Jesus precious name...AMEM.....Jeanne

Having so many health issues and now dealing with aftermath of severe Covid. I have trusted in God because of the passage of Paul praying about his thorn. But it is so hard at times to keep going when your not sure what is happening or his plan is but I always keep in my mind that my love for God is not based on what he does or doesn’t do but on what he did on the cross which was enough. Sometimes I pray Lord let your will be done when praying for someone in my closet but I keep hearing I’m wrong so thank you again.

One thing that John MacArthur taught that I would like to add, is that we should focus the majority of our prayers on others, not to put our own needs first....And then ask others to pray for us instead. It's something I have tried to follow and found it very helpful.

I have always seen it that way, and still want to, but I can‘t wrap my mind around Hebrews 5,7 where it seams to say that Jesus‘ prayer was answered. I know that because of this verse Spurgeon preached that Jesus’ prayer was against a cup of fear and that it was answered. Are there other examples for unanswered righteous prayers that I can rest in, to agree with all your conclusions? (I want to agree, I’m just struggling with that example as a foundation). Thank you!

Paul asking God to remove his 'thorn in my flesh'. Whatever it was, physical illness, disability, depression, a person or whatever, He didnt remove it. i would also add the evidence points to the cup that Jesus prayed not to drink if possible was of God's wrath. The prospect of the impending extreme suffering and dereliction by the Father produced extreme anxiety, such that it produced a physical response of some of his capillaries bursting.

How is it possible that Jesus cannot do miracles as he likes?
      Can his prayers fail?
It also shows that things work both ways. He won't do much without us having faith in him. And if you have faith, but the "target" of your prayer doesn't...

@@ReadersOfTheApocalypse Yes life is complicated. But re Mark 6, Ive always understood that to mean because the people 'took offence at him', very few people actually came forward, to be healed etc, hence he healed only a few. It seems to me the 'faith' of stepping forward towards Jesus was required, but for the most part, that faith was not present. So it was not that he did not have the power to heal or perform other miracles, but that the people were not interested and stayed away due to their 'offence'.

@@PC-vg8vn I'm pretty sure, Jesus wanted to heal everybody.
The creator of the universe has his plan, but also respects people's whishes. Maybe that's why "life is complicated".

Thank you for this teaching, Mike. I've lived with chronic neck and back issues since I got into a car accident at 20. I grew up in the Word of faith, and Copeland was a big influence. In the past, I've tried speaking over my situation, using the "power of my words" to bring healing. I've really wrestled with it, and at points it has definitely hindered my faith and my relationship with God. But now I know that God is with me even in my suffering, and I have faith in His perfect will no matter what my circumstances are! 🙏

Pastor Mike... you have done an exceptional job on teaching a very challenging subject... Especially for people who were brought up in the word of faith movement... This is a true service to the kingdom of God. It needs to be understood that a lot of the people who believe in "faith" (as the ultimately determining factor...) this way, its importance and even preach it this way... Really DO BELIEVE what they are saying! Thank you for teaching this position in love, and may God continue to bless you!

Thank you for your honesty in approaching this topic Mike!
About 21 mins in, the way you drew on prayer being relational made me feel such a love for God and instantly I desired to go and pray right then and there!
I have been finding prayer incredibly difficult lately, but you rekindled a want for a living deep prayer life of communion with God.
Thank you for all your teachings. I know we won't always agree on everything, but lately I've been noticing that I am drawn to those who have good fruit and good character (of which you have) and am being repelled by those who lack these things.
Mike, your gentle, honest and thoughtful approach brings me back to thoughtfully engage over and over. You are an inspiration to many, including myself.

Thank you for all the insight and serious study you do, Mike. It is appreciated. I would like to add that Jesus said of himself: Luke 4:42 ...it was day, . And the crowd sought Him and came to Him, and tried to keep Him from leaving them; 43 but He said to them, "I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent." The Gospel of the Kingdom is spoken of at least 106 times in the Gospels, and Acts. That was the focus of the Messiah. The Samaritan woman said to Him: John 4:19 The woman said to Him, "Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship." 21 Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father." Evidently a "mountain" was the spiritual authority over that people group. (I think in a broader sense than "the temple.") So going back to the context of Jesus preaching the Kingdom of God, when he said in Mark 11:23, "whoever says to this mountain"...He is referring to the spiritual authority that had become a great burden to the Jews; the Pharisees were the only ones Jesus had said very strong words of rebuke and condemnation to. The Jews knew what the "mountain" was in context of entering the Kingdom of God. The following verses in Mark 11 are right from the Lord's Prayer; regarding forgiveness, the Father...right relationship with God.
When we ask anything in "Jesus name," it means according to His character, who and what He is, our right relationship with Him, our knowledge and obedience of Him, our submitting to His leading and will. Not just mouthing "in Jesus name". Anyone can do that. The Jews knew that to "ask any thing in His name" was referring to receiving the Kingdom; being overcomers, remaining faithful, knowing his peace, His joy, etc. Luke 12:30 For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. 31 But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.
:32 "Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom". The rest of ch. 11 is directly connected to the "mountain" issue.
Mar 11:27 Then they came again to Jerusalem. And as He was walking in the temple, the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders came to Him.
28 And they said to Him, "By what authority are You doing these things? And who gave You this authority to do these things?"
I feel so very sorry for those that have fallen into the "prosperity gospel" trap. Those that teach it are so deceived, and they deceive others.

Amen. We cannot see the why or how of Gods will, if He could He would is His promise. Our faith is love does what is appropriate, our goal is to have a heart that desires the same thing. The heresy is people claiming on this earth worldly benefit is Gods way but 100% Gods way is the Kingdom way and love working through good works. So many claim illness is from the enemy, but how will anyone ever go to be with the Lord, in this view going to meet the Lord is domination of the enemy. How does love benefit other than rejoicing in Gods victory over every difficulty, not deliverance from every difficulty. Jobs victory was knowing God despite his suffering, knowing God never changes. God bless you

I grew up Word of Faith. You stumbled upon the good in the Word of Faith. We are commanded by the Word to believe that we will receive from God the things we ask for. It is a command. James says in James 1 that if we doubt we will receive the thing we ask for, we are double-minded, unstable in all of our ways, and should not expect to receive anything from God.
We shouldn't expect to receive from God anything we pray for if we do NOT believe we will receive it. That's how Jesus taught us to pray.
I'm sad that the love of money and power has crept into many parts of the Word of Faith movement. I know personally many in the Word of Faith movement who do NOT love money and power. They are real Christians who hate the prosperity gospel.

Thank you for sharing this. I'm stuck with my Tourette's. My husband is stuck with at least some physical disabilities/injuries. I believe in healing from God for both of us but more for spiritual, psychological, and partial physical healing. At the end of the day my neurology just developed wrong and he was in an accident...yet we've both been struggling to accept what we've been set with. God wants us to rely on Him in good times and in bad, just like you'd want from a spouse. You want real relationships to last. If He gave us everything we wanted we wouldn't really have reason to turn to Him, would we? Not when we're in sin like this. I feel ready to give this to God after watching this video, thanks again brother.
