State Game Land where it’s illegal to dig, we were advised by the state to cease all work there. The gold was Federal Property so they could override the State, come in and dig. But please, tell us how you would have done it? Just gone in and dug? what took the FBI a backhoe and jack hammers, you’d be able to do by hand? then what? when the government found out all the laws you broke they raid your house and your bank accounts?

Back in the early 1970's a friend and I spent many hours pouring over clues and searching the Dent's Run area looking for this treasure. We searched all over that mountain and got within 500 yards of the exact spot where the dig was. However, we did find a wooden wagon hub partially buried. At that time there was only 2-3 homes or camps in the area. We were driven off the mountain by a severe snow storm. As luck would have it, we never could get back up there as life got in the way. True story.
I would have dug up & at least kept 1 (or 10) gold bars before calling our government! I admire you guys for trying to do the right thing though. I'm also in Central, PA and have seen this story on our local news. I truly hope you guys get some answers as we all should know by now that you can't always trust our gov.

I think the Fen treasure was some type of hoax. The fellow who "found" it supposedly had huge debts from medical school. He could have auctioned it off at sotheby's and made $8 million bucks. We have not heard anything about him selling it off. The whole thing stinks. And 7 people died looking for it.

It looked like it had been in the weather for a long time, (he supposedly hid it in 2009). While spending the summers in Northern New Mexico was great, I still would like to know how it really played out.

I have a camp in Sinnemahoning, and as a kid (in the 80's and 90's) and now even as an adult (LOL) every time we would drive past Dent's Run on our way to hunting camp, my dad would tell me about the lost Gold in the area. I have one question. The transcontinental railroad was not finished till after the civil war so…. How could they transport the gold by rail from calf ?
