We drove past the National Cathedral too. We’re actually at Appioo near 9th and Ust. We stopped by Bukom but wasn’t too impressed with the menu! We’ll meet next time.
Lmbo, you sound like me " no chocolate in the city 👀" "Even though we are in America (pause to look around) we got to watch our backs" DC has definitely changed
It’s not called Adam’s Morgan anymore!! That is a shame! It’s literally crazy how just 10/15 years ago. All those yt people literally were black. And they so happy to be there too lol
Interesting observation...I am not familiar with DC and was not aware that it was up for gentrification. 🤔 I hope that you get some answers and share, because I am curious too. The way that gent bumped into y'all looked a pickpocketing move. He walked into you like you were invisible. It must be the weight loss - that's my guess. 😉 Glad that you both are enjoying your time in America. ❤
Awww you’re always so observant 🥰. As far as DC goes, it used to be Chocolate City. Population about 90% or so black. As one commenter stated, the Black female mayor gave 23,000 housing vouchers to low income families but they couldn’t use them in DC proper. I remember hearing something like that. I remember in early 2010s they were sending families as far as NC. Disgusting.
Wow! That is a shame. In my travels around the US, I have observed many times that there are poorer black and brown communities living in the areas just outside of the downtowns of major cities. Sadly, those same people are being gentrified out of those communities and I don't understand it. Why were those communities there in the first place?
OMG! You two came to my city. ❤ *EDIT:* Also, the Mayor here. Moved out 23,000 Black Families to accommodate these unseasoned folk! Mind you all, Iron Bangs is a black woman. SMH! She made it where, if, they have or granted a housing voucher they were NOT allowed to reside directly, in the city (DC) anymore. Those underprivileged black people listened and followed that illegal rhetoric. People should have sued her and cabinet!
@@westafricanbackpackers Yes! I am literally friends with people who grew up around her. She's ALWAYS BEEN evil since her adolescent years. Sn: With the money she makes AND steals. There was no excuse with those late 80s/mid 90s in-house curls. LOL!😩😩😩😩😩😩😩🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@westafricanbackpackers right...I live in SE, and it's not as bad as people lead you to believe, but things happen all over the city, kids car jacking is a problem😢

Madam, your hair is lovely to look at. Thanks for keeping it natural.
The food looked yummy.
Kofi, it’s good you’re enjoying America!!!!
Probably the Black people moved back “home “ to the South. ( lower cost of living better opportunities and better climate).
Lovely couple. Kofi’s are the best in the whole wide world.
For sure 😊
Hello my people

😂😂For real!!! It’s just not the same.
It stopped being chocolate city 20 years.
So sad. The DC culture is totally gone 😢

It’s depressing honestly. The DC culture is nowhere to be found. Smh. “They” call it AdMo 🤦🏽♀️

😮😮I’m very familiar with Muriel. But never knew the details about housing. I used to teach in DC. And know her evil. Lmao @ Iron Bangs.

I think the chocolate are moving back to the mother land,
I doubt that’s the case here!
What is the name of the restaurant?
Appioo. Pretty good!
How was the food?
Pretty good 👍🏽
You probably don’t see much blacks, because they left to go to Africa and people preparing to leave!❤️🙏🏽
Hmmmm or they pushed out to the suburbs. But yes people are definitely fed up 🙏🏽
DC is no longer chocolate city, except Southeast and you don’t want to go there.
Ugh!!! I used to work in SE. They’re gentrifying there too
