If you're curious about comments from other SEOs (and more!) about checking if someone hired for SEO is doing what they're supposed to be doing, check out the comments in www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7219752935675543552/ -- there are a lot of great ideas & thoughts in there.
I’d like to hear what methods and tools others use to monitor and verify what SEO actions a vendor is conducting on one’s behalf and to what effect. Monthly meetings and general performance reports are nice, but they still rely heavily on the SEO/agency to report truthfully and transparently. “Trust, but verify” should be the marketing manager’s M.O. Such efforts demand more of my time and mental capacity than I typically have to give them, so I’m hunting for tools and practices that may reduce this work and cognitive load.
In the same vein, such solutions shouldn’t be unduly burdensome to the vendor either. No one likes micromanaging or being micromanaged. We would all appreciate an interface that records actions and provides all vested parties convenient reporting of work completed. Think “revision history,” but in a reader-friendly format that’s pushed via email.
@@mattstephenskc What would you suggest? There are so many angles in SEO, for better or for worse. I'd love to get input from other SEOs, or those who worked with some!
