As much as I admire john I believe that he was mentally unstable through much of his life and that was the root of much of his problems getting involved with Yolo was a huge mistake I don't believe it was his fault I just believe there was nothing he could do about it
John was a co dependent victim of her. His childhood trauma from Liverpool childhood was unresolved. Same with Paul. Paul became a narcissist. Lost a mother, narcissist father Jim. There you go.
