This is pure perfection, the whole band has such a stage presence and energy. This is what they should show to all kids that wants to perform on stage, and make music. Doesn’t get better than this.
As a 14 year old girl i agree 😭. I wish performances were still like this. And that people still liked popstars because they had talent instead of them being the spitting image of the beauty standard. I love adams music because in every other song theres a voice crack or a gasp of air that just makes it so REAL and raw. And of course, he's one of the world's greatest performers with so much energy and passion going into every lyric. Love this man with all my heart, hes even helped me through some mental health issues by talking about his bipolar etc and convincing me to talk to someone. My friends are all confused as to why I don't like Taylor swift or dua lipa, but I dont care, because adam ant will forever be the worlds greatest musician in my mind ❤️
To be fair, this song was written before Marco was in the band (by Adam). The early versions are arguably even better than this. See the Peel Sessions or the recordings released on Do-It Records. No offence meant to Marco!
@@Albrecht777 strictly speaking partnership....I prefer songs Marco had a hand in...every artist that went solo always put out their top stuff when they worked in tandem while writing songs. I liked Marcos sound overall.. gotcha about this song ...for me personally I think Marco helped pull some good stuff out of Adam. Adam only had one hit in the states, well 2 ...goody two shoes and wonderful...I loved English bands....I was only 6 in 1980 and for the next three years I'd get what ever magazine or cassette that came out so I could follow the bands over there. my father is a bass player in a band that had some minor hits in the 60s...he always played mccartney and other English musicians when I was really small in the late 70s...I got hooked on any musician coming out of England by de facto lollll...so I was one of the only kids over here back in 81 following Adam and def the only 6 year old lmao...I can tell you are a big fan ...id give anything to go back to experience all those bands and musicians again for the first time...im gonna check out the versions you mentioned...you know your stuff...thank you for giving me stuff to check out. The Peel session is okay, Matthew's guitar sound is great but the drums are weedy. The Decca verssion is far better and there are some brilliant live versions. (Ealing College RAR, Rome Titan Club, Lyceum April '79, even the final Electric Ballroom gig with Leigh G on bass.)

However, as someone who owns all the Decca sessions as bootlegs ("Young Parisians" / "Lady" notwithstanding, obviously) and plenty of live gigs, I have never understood the disappointment with "Dirk" et al, even when it came out. I love that LP and the attendant singles. That's just my personal take and taste, of course. I think people were expecting something different. To my mind, one should always expect the unexpected!

Had his posters all over my walls, I was 11 and even that young, he gave me a tickle in my potty (if you get my drift). Watching this at 55 yrs. old, I still find him utterly captivating. Jerky dances, huge swirling hips (and hip THRUSTS). NIN covered this song, amazing.

King of the Wild Frontier is one of the definitive Post-Punk albums ever. Full on energy throughout. Dirk Wears White Sox is also awesome.
