I got prescribed some stronger meds after having my wisdom teeth removed years ago, but when I took them I felt extremely nauseous and couldn't hold down any food, so I could understand if that was a factor; let's not also forget that if one got prescribed opiates, there's a possible addiction risk there too, so all things considered, Pomu probably didn't want to deal with that baggage.

I guess I got lucky because I never felt anything other than discomfort. But I kept getting them prescribed, even after I told them I was fine I swear, like 5, 6 boxes of meds got wasted on me

The painkiller was kinda effective, but my situation never really got better. When I went back to the clinic to get checked, I got prescribed a stronger painkiller (I forgot what it's called) and I just refused to take it, because I got scared that eventually, I'll need to take even stronger doses if need be. So I held chest pains painful enough for me to feel like I was smacked with a baseball bat straight on my chest whenever I sneezed or coughed for 4 months more or less
Just to give a picture, Etoricoxib is a painkiller sometimes used for moderate post-dental surgeries, gout, osteoarthritis, and the like. It mostly targets swellings that are sensitive to motion and/or contact
