Henley Town Council and Harpsden Parish Council are updating our local Neighbourhood Plan (for more information visit jhhnp.org.uk).
Neighbourhood planning gives communities direct power to develop a shared vision for their neighbourhood and shape the development and growth of their local area.
The Neighbourhood Plan survey has been carefully designed following recent focus groups and includes questions to help guide the Neighbourhood Plan Committee on housing needs in Henley and Harpsden.
Mayor Ken Arlett, Chairman of the Joint Henley and Harpsden Neighbourhood Plan Review Working Group commented, that ‘A good Neighbourhood Plan is a working document that can help shape future development and identify community issues such as housing need. To be effective, a Neighbourhood Plan must focus on what local people think and feel. We need your response to the questionnaire by Monday the 11th January.’
You can complete the survey online at www.surveymonk...
The Joint Henley and Harpsden Neighbourhood Plan was adopted by South Oxfordshire District Council in April 2016. This was the result of several years’ work by numerous residents and set out development sites in the two parishes. As South Oxfordshire District Council is now working on a revised Local Plan, it is necessary for the Joint Henley and Harpsden Neighbourhood Plan to be reviewed. This is an opportunity to consider where it is possible to improve upon the existing Neighbourhood Plan.
The Localism Act 2011 gave local communities the statutory power to produce Neighbourhood Plans. This provides the community with the chance to create policies that will affect the location of future development.
    WHY DOES IT NEED UPDATING?
On the 10th December 2020, councillors at South Oxfordshire District Council adopted the Local Plan 2035. This means that a new Joint Henley and Harpsden Neighbourhood Plan will need to be agreed within the next 12 months,
Neighbourhood planning enables communities to play a much stronger role in shaping the areas in which they live and work
