Rare double headed class 43 HST power cars haul mk2 coaches on railtour - 08/06/24

Rail Adventure class 43 HST power cars seen passing Hitchin on a UK Railtours charter service from Finsbury Park to Newcastle. An unusual combination of HST power cars hauling mark 2 coaches as a loco hauled double header. 43468 front and 43480 behind.

To have one at each end and be able to have both under power, the train needs a special control cable from end-to-end. Only the HST Mk3 coaches had this cable.

@@malcolmsmith6615 I was just about to say that. Funnily enough, it's only the Network Rail MK2's that have push-pull technology because of the DBSO's.

Yes indeed. Push Pull with one loco and a remote set of controls (e.g. in a DVT) is not as rare as multiple working utilising two locos with vehicles between them. It takes some complex through circuits!
