Thanks. I can’t honestly say. We don’t have any 450’s in our fleet nor or there as many out there. They have faster piston speeds than the 500 so that will come into play to mean slightly lower service life
The stock fueling on the 20/21 XCFW is the best yet. If you are not racing , I suggest you run the stock fueling and exhaust for a while before you drop big coin on aftermarket ECU and exhaust mods. As delivered, the bike runs really well, is quiet, and delivers as much as 140 miles of range from the stock tank. The larger tanks raise the CG when full and present an obvious safety hazard in an unplanned get off. The relative relaxed state of tune means better fuel economy and longer engine life for dual sport use. There is enough power for easy wheel lofts and high speeds. I fully agree with Mike that the Rekluse auto clutch and Left Hand Rear Brake really enhance the broad capabilities of the 500 platform. In particular the autoclutch will allow you to run a gear high in slippery hard enduro conditions. This gives you amazing control of the rear contact patch on steeps, wet root mazes, and the like. Be sure to combine this with a sticky tire on Tubliss at low pressure for maximum effect. I find more traction with this setup on the 500 than I do on the legendary 300. And now they weigh the same!
Agreed, I’m at 30hrs on my 21 500 and I don’t think I’m gonna do the ECU/exhaust upgrade. The bike runs dang good stock. Had a flameout issue after it broke in (about 20 hours) but noticed the idle had dropped after it loosened up. Adjusted the idle back up and it’s back to running great.
Don’t agree on the ‘not needed’ but there’s allot of modifications that happen in the US BUT a majority of suppliers are from Europe and Australia and the amount of bike modifications happening there also is significant
Wow really 300 to 400 hours before doing a top end replacement. Husqvarna fe 350 2017 manual says I have to do one at a 135 hours. I see people only do them at about 200 hours on youtube, but wonder if they are necessary if you don't abuse you bike too much and you clean the air filter often.
Walmart 35 dollars battery is the best battery you can run in your Enduro you might have to go through a few of them because a lot of them are bad right in the beginning but you go through about three of them you find a good one best battery you'll ever put in your bike
You mention the dome washer on it seems like all of your builds. I bought my bike used and it has a renthal front sprocket, not the stock one. Is the dome washer still an upgrade I should look into even with the renthal front sprocket?
Wow and to think, I was happy after a plastic skid plate and EE bark busters and sicass light kit to get tags. I slow down in rocks and just refuse to abuse my bike in them so alot of bling for guards just never needed also east coast maybe just not as rocky period. Black throttle cam was nice and motor clutch good stock, I just dont buy clutch mods running cooler than stock, gotta prove that one, stock clutch is way to good to throw away in my book. Gear down two teeth in rear makes recluse unnecessary in most of my terrain. Expensive bike made uber expensive but there must be market for all that, again Wow.
I have the same skid plate on my bike. If I didn't have it on I think I would've been replacing my clutch sided cases lol. Question, have you ever ran the dcr cam in any of the newer bikes? Looking at buying one but can't find info anywhere.
Can you run the brp undermount without stabilizer ? I’d like to run it with my twisted engineering bars so I’d have to use their top caps for the guards.
ooo is he missing the cotter pin on the left foot peg? I lost the pin on the left side on a ride because the kickstand keeps hitting it when parked. I saw someone recommend changing the direction of the peg pin, Maybe that was on one of your videos even?

Do you think 15 hour oil changes are necessary for a stock FE501S that is frequently, but very lightly ridden? I Like to ride mine to work when the weather is nice, so sometimes I might do that everyday for a week or two straight. Its all city riding, max speed is 45-50mph and about ~16 miles/30-40 minutes round trip
No. You could probably get away changing it every 40 hours if you're doing mostly street. What degrades oil (from my experience) is hard riding and dust. I've been taking better care of my air filters which should help increase the life of the oil. But I think you can safely double those intervals judging by your case.
Dirty filters still filter but might flow slightly less air which should richen the A/F ratio, so I don't think changing or cleaning the air filter so often does very much for engine life. Throw on an aftermarket ECU with increased fuel and a dirty air filter is even less of an issue with regard to engine life.
Every bike, rider, conditions, are different blah, blah, blah. As you are continuously running those SKF Mud Scrapers in all conditions, on average be it engine hour run time, mileage, etc. About how long is it before they are wearing out?

Would be cool to see oil sent to a lab with and without recluse on a really tough ride to get some proof it contaminated the oil less.

260 hour on my 2016 Wr450f and I do regular maintenance, i clean and reuse , oil air filter , oil change ever 10 amsoil only k and n oil filter

Did my 250EXC-F at 300hrs. It looked like it could do another 100. I rode it hard, changed oil and filters often. Didn't bounce of rev limiter though.
We have customer bikes with 600-800 hours

I would see a dirty air filter having all of the oily surface filled up and dust can slip through the filter as there is less resistance.
