To the people that don’t agree with her spending on her child’s birthday: It’s apparent to me that they prioritize their children over all else. They live in as modest a home as you can with that size family. I recognize some of mom’s clothing from Amazon (because I own the same). They read to their kids, spend time with them, let them help in decision making about meals (explain that they cannot do “steak night” every week because it is expensive….) Let’s not cast our own mores on others. You can watch, or not. Agreed that I never got that many gifts at once. But my mother’s selfishness was taught by ignoring my existence. No quality time, no encouragement, almost no medical care. These parents give all they have to their kids while maintaining a modest lifestyle for their own selves. Please, we can all be aware that some extra birthday gifts are not going to ruin a child who is brought up in a proper household with an over abundance of love.
And you need to realize that a parent who can only afford a few gifts for their kids or who don’t want their kids to have a ton of gifts don’t somehow love their kids any less! Stuff doesn’t equal love and the amount you get or give is not the point of gift giving!

It must be such an amazing feeling to have a cart full of your babies’ favorite things, knowing how excited they’ll be. I’m not to the point where I can go this hard for my kids but I pray for the day.
Just imagine having a mom that goes "omg she would love this!!" About her daughter and just spoils them with love, NOT monetary value. It's primarily "I saw this and it made me think of you so I got it!" And it has nothing to do with money or what it is or where it's from. It's just straight from the heart, from love. My mom did that ONCE in my whole life with a coffee cup and I treat that coffee cup like it's gold because it's the ONLY sentimental thing she ever gave me, whenever it breaks or gives out or the paint peels, I'm gonna get a special mug for myself that is a gift to MYSELF to fill that space where my mom's mug was. It'll hurt, but it will be a moment I have to let go of some of my mom and put more focus toward myself and less toward her.
How special that you get her all the things she loves. Your a great mom Alicia, your selflessness is above and beyond. Your caring for your family shines everyday in every way! I only know grandmas who spoil like this, not many mommas…would love to see you get a special day for you!

My mother was and still is a narcissist, everything was about her, if money was tight she used to cry and moan that she wanted to treat herself but she couldn’t because my brothers and I would need shoes for school! I am eternally grateful that my Nan and grandad would come to our house to look after us when my num worked two days a week, she always told us how unwell she was, my grandparents were amazing, my brothers and I were really happy! My mother was also loved being in bed unwell, my father is a loathe some character he smacked me black and blue as I had forgotten to put my little brothers shoes on, I had just turned four! I haven’t had any contact with my family, my older brother and I still talk he had a rough time as he had a different father! You are such a loving kind and caring person, I would like to come back as one of your children! ❤️❤️❤️

Wow you’re children are so lucky to have a mother like you! Since we were poor my mother wasn’t ever able to get us gifts for our birthdays 🤷🏼♀️ I remember getting a pair of shoes for school for my 7 year birthday and that was the last time I got a gift for a B-day it’s a lot better now that I’m an adult & a mother I buy my own gifts. I’m going to spoil my daughter like this💗
