On mine the battery didn't charge. I made a small circuit board with a 1084 voltage regulator ic, set to about 13,8 volts and used this to connect the solar to the battery. and saved 200 euro for an original board.
I did something similar. I bought an external compact regulator, installed it inside where the battery goes and hardwired the solar panel into it, then ran that to the battery. I think I've done that 4-5 times and so far so good.
I'm looking at the gallagher s100 200 400 models and have a couple different pastures I need to energize I'm wondering which one would best fit the size of pastures I have one of my pastures is roughly 15 acres the other two are both roughly 40-50 acres of fencing could you recommend me to an appropriate model of the s series?
If you keep your fence semi clean of brush and grass, I would get the S100 for the smaller area and the S200 for the 40-50 acres and should have little to no issues. All the gallagher units are very well made. I am a dealer for the gallagher brand. So if you'd like to help out the little guy, I'll try and get you a good price on any of the gallagher products. You'll also get all the support from me after the sale. They don't have hardly any issues with their units, but I'll be there if for some rare reason they do.
I sell gallagher. I don't have a lot of overhead so I can get you a pretty good price compared to others that have a bunch of employees and overhead to pay for.
We use a Gallagher MBS200 on our 10 acre pasture, because we have Haflingers. It works great so far, but you have to buy the battery separate and the solar charger. Total was about $550 and I will tell you it HURTS! lol. The MBS series is nice because they can be Mains (plug into wall), battery only, or solar (battery + solar charger).
Hi, I have a Gallagher S100 that's not working. The battery is good, the solar panel is putting out 20 volts on a over caste day, I took of a lead from the transformer and did a ohms test and and found a dead short inside it. Do you have transformers for these. part #2A2084. I have seen some have the part #2A7084, not sure if these are the same. I am based in New Zealand
You didn't state what your unit was actually doing when you turn the unit on like normal. When you tested the transformer wiring, were you testing across the two wires that go from the transformer to the circuit board? If so, there should be very very low ohms, usually 0.1-1 ohms, so if that's where you testing at and got that low ohms reading, then the primary side is ok. The primary side of the transformer is just a closed loop to allow the board to discharge into it. The secondary output side, I'm not sure what the ohms reading on that transformer, but I don't think it's your issue. If the unit doesn't flash or click or anything, even with the good battery and panel, I'm leaning more into the board having an issue.
@@FencerFixerRepairLLCKansasCity Thanks for your reply, I removed one wire from the board and did the ohms test which read 0.00 ohms. The unit did not beeb and the light would just come on then of straight away.
You have a bad module then. Also, how old is your unit or what is the 10 digit serial number on the unit? You should be able to get the module there in New Zealand either from gallagher directly or get the part number from gallagher and have a local store order one for you from gallagher. Gallagher's manufacturing plant is in New Zealand, but they may or may not sell parts to the public.
@@FencerFixerRepairLLCKansasCity Ok, thanks for the help. Gallagher wont sell parts to the public, just recommend sending the unit to them. Not a very helpful lot
Question... We have 3 of the S100 units on our horse pastures. Now that winter is setting in its not charging batteries enough with solar. Any suggestions besides charging the batteries up and then plugging them back in? Luckily we have a spare unit so we could play "hot potato" and rotate them around while one is charging. Our MBS200 has the same issue but its a lawn mower battery so I bought a spare and swap it out when it gets low.
My goodness, this is the most painful video I’ve tried to watch in my 53 years. Please don’t try to think about why people watch your video. It is to get to the RELEVANT, USEFUL INFORMATION. I need the info, but had to go elsewhere because you take almost 20 minutes to say what should take you about 5. I never leave comments on TH-cam videos, but this one takes the cake!
There's also 25 likes to 1 dislike. So the information I put on there must've been helpful to some people and not helpful to others. I've got 640+ videos on youtube. I don't make them for everyone, I make them for whoever wants to watch and listen. I press record on my phone and start talking. I don't have editing software or a fancy camera to hook to my computer, just my cell phone. So what you see is what you get.

I bought a s100 a year ago and it’s only putting out 0.7 and the battery is good what parts do I need to replace
Well, it's under warranty still, so I would send it back to Gallagher directly. Their units carry a 3 year warranty

If you say the transformer seems ok then I guess it must be the board module. Do you know if these are available.

I'm not sure what to do there exactly. I would call up Gallagher directly and see what they recommend to do.

Thanks for that, this video is 1 1/2 years old by the way
