I use Obsidian for four months now, I love getting structure ideas. Thanks!

Also - like having the 'whole' in Zot as a library - so easily come back to 'old' papers for new projects and mine them for newer points for the new project, with the Obsidian memory in its summary and the old nugget needed for the old project. So the DataView plus tags managing the current stage, etc.

Latest Obsidian - adds bookmarks for instance. so links as in wiki style [[ ]], tags and bookmarks - all work within one vault... and are useful to also monitor the status of the note. So the old folder of fleeting, lit and permanent notes can be dropped and if you use via the daily (journal note) and then initial 'collection' almost like Zotero can be made under DataView for the 'now' and not effected by last weeks question.

... and of course, your choice but the PDFs can be in Obsidian - or left in Zotero, with Zot managing the highlights and even comments, and therefore with the extra ability to manage references and citations... and the import of the highlights (quotes) and the comments and the tags with lit citation can be semi-automatic from Z to O... so less cut and paste... and as Zot now reads more than just 'paper pdf'.

Love the writing as a garden metaphor. I'd like to share that idea with others. Who should I give credit to? Thank you for this. So well done.

I have no idea about the origin of the writing garden metaphor. It's quite an obvious one though, I can imagine it was "invented" independently, again and again.

Nice video! I love the way Mary organized every aspect of her phd project however as a newbie with obsidian it seems way too advanced for me to achieve..

Marly also started as a newbie ;) Check out our first interview where she was explaining the basics after using Obsidian for a couple of months: th-cam.com/video/bDQn9ry22n0/w-d-xo.html

just use it to make simple notes you do not have to use all bells and whistles and then in a year or two you will just naturally learn more

ask her to share or else you will just have to create your own. you can use template core plugin but i use templater as it is abit more powerful (or at least it was)
