Just changed out my valve last week. Took it to a local shop and they evacuated the R134A refrigerant. You need snap ring pliers also. Changed out valve. Shop refilled the R134A they evacuated. AC works like brand new. 39° F. My car is a 2013 Kia OPTIMA 96k miles.
hi guys... thank you for the awesome video. am facing a weird problem with my kia picanto ,2017,1.2 G4LA engine ,automatic during idle in either P or D... the rpm is constant at 800 in AC off condition. in AC on condition ... idle is at 800-900 then after every 2minutes the rpm climbs steadily to 1100 , stays at 1100 for 2 minutes and comes back to 800. it is at every equal interval of 120 seconds(1100 for 2 minutes ,... 800 for 2 minutes). Pls help .
I wish there was a true way to test this. My dilemma is I know I have an issue with either compressor and/or solenoid valve. If I replace compressor with new one I know I will 100% fix my issue but I might have spent a lot more money in the process. If I try switching solenoid and it doesn't work then I will have to pay twice for freeon evac/recharge plus the cost of the valve on top of the new compressor. No clue what to do
@@mik_ey96 No but I decided to replace everything but the clutch and compressor and gonna see if it takes freon with a vacuum pump and works before I replace clutch or worst case compressor. I hate throwing darts but if you think about it...You're replacing 3 of the top 5 things that usually go bad anyway so I look at it as preventative maintenance in a case like this. Parts and pump are otw..I'll let you know how it goes

Is there an OEM part number for the control valve? Can't find an OEM one anywhere.

Is it possible for this part to go bad but the compressor still works but not to capacity?
Where you able to find the answer? I’m wondering the same thing

@@shawnharman2180 let us know how it went
@@shawnharman2180 what did you end up replacing? Just the solenoid valve?
Why remove the compressor? Why not replace the valve without removing the compressor?
How about we see where it is before you take it out? Just saying
My friend now is understand how you can make 200 to 300 videos on a car , you don’t get to the point ! A video for every step is a bit much ..
