Great video. I use a Garmin 1030 Plus and this battery drain issue will hit me once or maybe twice in a season, just enough to be truly annoying. I regularly keep my device software updated and I fully power down (not sleep) the device after each ride. I have noticed that occasionally when I power down the device, when I watch the screen as it is powering-off, the device will not fully shut down and the screen will show a circular power icon when it should have been fully powered off (the screen is a bit dimmer at this point, so it is easy to miss). When this happens, I must hold the power button down for several seconds to bring the device back online (a short press of the power button will not start the device), after that, I can power the device down normally. My hypothesis is that for the times when I have experienced the battery drain issue, my device has not fully powered-down and I just have not noticed, thus, the next day the battery is dead. Using this theory, I do try to remind myself to always watch the device to ensure that it is fully powered-off versus initiating the power-down and then walking away.
Yup - I noticed that too. Sometimes the screen is just ever so faintly turned on, which drains your power. Annoying that Garmin can't actually fix the issue through a software update. I've been considering upgrading to the x40 series, but the 1040 is rather pricey as an upgrade.
Fix 4 works for me. Have to redo it every so often, but an easy fix to do.
Yup, same here. Have to do it every few months, but cheaper than a new 1040!
Since Garmin's update to MTP file interface, the system won't allow you to delete RemoteSW anymore. the XML file is still able
