- We all have shoes we love in our sneaker collections, but unfortunately there's some we've bought thinking they'd be comfortable than they are! At some point I realized these shoes hurt my feet after wearing them for a long period of time, however they're some of most stylish and cool sneakers in my closet. So here's my Top 5 surprisingly uncomfortable sneakers. We've got Nike, Jordans, Nike SB, new balance and vans in here, no one was spared even though they're some of my favorite sneaker brands. Let me know which shoes you've bought that you regret because of the sizing or support! I don't regret any of these sneakers, I just know I can't wear them on feet for long! 90% of Jordan 4s are horribly painful. The last bred 4s I legit contemplated walking home barefoot on the streets of London because of the pain. I’m honestly scared to put on 4s as my brain associates them with pain.

This is why I haven't un-DSed 2 pairs of Jordan 4s. My Lightning 4s absolutely killed my feet and I barely wear them as a result :(
Jordan 4s are only good for 30 mins walking tops
Literally had this same issue in my blackcats walking around central got me limping after few hours however 2015 cements have been sweet in terms of comfort for me anyway
My white cements are fine honestly but all the others kill me. The most painful 4 of all had gotta be the Union 4s
I hear you bro! 4s are arguably the most aesthetically pleasing sneakers, but over the past year I’ve parted with the majority of mine (especially suede based) because they’re borderline unbearable if you walk around in em’ for more than 20 mins. Thank goodness the value of 4s have went up recently, my bank account and pinky toes thank me haha.

I’m exclusively a New Balance guy. I agree with the 550 statement. I laughed out loud, but they did get more comfortable with each wear. Excellent episode bro. 🙏🏾
Same here. I have a few pairs of 550’s but those get little rotation these days. It’s 990’s (V2/3/4), 993, 997, 998 and 991’s.
Oh and a few 2002R’s

I’m with you on the air max 97, Jordan 4 and SB dunks. Love how they look, but not how they wear. I only put them on for quick errands or if I know I’m gonna be sitting more than walking lol.
I wore my white cement 4s for the first time in a long time and it felt like I had cement blocks on my feet. It was like learning to walk again. When you finally take some 4s off its like you just released a piss you had been holding in for 4 hours. I love the look of 9s but the Baron 9s legit gave me open wounds I have not bought a 9 since.

I strongly agree with you on those Air Jordan 4 “Fire Red” being uncomfortable as hell. They remind me a lot of the Air Jordan 3 “True Blue” that used a lot of that cheap leather.

You are 100% accurate regarding the Goretex 1s. They fit so narrow and the fabric has no give. I think I may try soaking the shoe and stretching it out while wet, to see if I can get a little more give out of them. 🤞🏾
Maybe you should venture outside of Nike/JB. Should try Asics (not the Gel Lyte III) but try the Kayano 14,1130, Gel Nimbus 9, Protoblast. Or even the NB Freshfoam line? Seriously your feet will thank you!
Air Force 1s are weird. They fit my ankle perfectly, the toe box is the perfect length and size, yet I felt like I was standing on a hardwood floor when I stood up at the shoe store today. Jordan 1 Low was a bit tight in the ankle, too long in the toe box, but felt really comfy when standing I

Duuuude, I knew you were gonna pull out those 97s when you mentioned air max. Tried them on once in store just to get the size right, and I was like "I cannot buy these" 🤣
Ok, so it wasn’t just me when I tried on the Fire Red 4s. Like another user said, it’s hard to wear them because you know it’s not gonna be great. I haven’t done a deep dive into the Air Max line but the few I’ve worn were decent. I’ve noticed that the Air Max models bothered my heels after long periods of wear.
You are right on the SB dunk lows being uncomfortable.

1) Union 4 Off Noir. Idk why but it does something to my pinky toe that makes it so much worse than normal Jordan 4 tightness
2)Air Max 270- Something about the cushiony react in the forefront and a hard bubble in the back does not make for a smooth transition when walking. I also feel like I’m permanently slanted forward with the bubble
3) Yeezy 350s- No surprise to anyone but the sizing is all over the place. It honestly depends what year they released to be able to hone in on your correct sizing
4) Nike Huarache- Nightmare to find the correct sizing. Not bad though once you figure out what works for you
5) Air Max 720- All that bubble…hard as a rock. Visually pleasing…impossible to wear for an extended period of time.

Made my day, lol! But in all seriousness though, J4s really aren't that comfortable. Maybe it just depends on how you wear them, like not lacing them up and loosening the laces a bit, or wearing cushioned socks. But one thing is for sure, the toe box really hurts your toes after a while wearing them.

4s are wierd I think they slimed down the toe box for a few years because all my older Jordan 4s fit good 2012 fire reds, 2015 Oreos alternate 89s. Idk if it’s just the OG style 4s that have NIKE AIR on the back that have that issue but my what the 4s and the newer fire reds were super narrow in the toe .

Yep, pretty much with everyone one the 4’s. I got the bred 4s few years ago and I had to sell them cause I just couldn’t deal with how uncomfortable they were. I rarely sell sneakers but that was one of the few that had to go.
I’m glad someone finally said it. 550s are not comfortable. I had to switch the insole with a dr scholls insole.

Agree with all except for AM97. Those are actually super comfortable with the max air cushioning and it’s not super heavy either

Completely agree! Finally someone said it… the air max are not comfortable. 98 is even more uncomfortable than 97’s. Doesn’t make sense. But, the Air Tuned Max retros that came out last year and this are decent.

You've got to break in the Black cat 4s. After like the 30th time wearing em, they become... bearable.
I have those exact SB Dunk lows and my experience with the toe leather was 100% the same. They did get better, but I did have to do a few miles in them!!
The Gore tex lining is thick and goes under the leather in the shoe usually going up half size is necessary ik this cause I work at new balance they carry many shoes w gore Tex
Def agree with you on the 4’s as well. Legit one of the most uncomfortable sneakers on my feet at least. Now SB dunks I go up a half size and pretty comfy at least on the suede pairs.
Agreed on the 550’s. I changed the insoles on mine and made it ok after that but I don’t wear em as often anymore now.

A silhouette I wear all the time that kills my feet are Air Force 2. They fit super snugged and I even went up half a size 🤨.
Crazy to see everyone pile on the 4s but I had the black cat 4s and loved the comfort of those. They’re such a hyped model now its near impossible to get a dub for retail.
There’s for sure some 4s that are more tolerable than others. PSG 4s don’t bother me much. The fire reds are the one that sticks out to me most tho!

I used to love wearing Nike Cortez shoes; grew up wearing them. As an adult, I realized the sole is very narrow and the shoe doesn’t spread open very well. They just stay tight even loose and/or oversized.

Anyone else find that 550s have a ton of heel slip? They fit me fine but still unless I choke the laces it’s like wearing flip flops.

I can't even wear my Thunder 4s because it's feels like someone is stabbing me on the top of my feet. But my Shashiko 4s are among my most comfortable shoes. Go figure.
J1's sock liner bites when you wear no show sock and it comes into contact with your skin.
sb dunks used to feel amazing when skating. I have a clean pair from either 2014 or 15. a low top denim pair. found them in a random box forgot I had them. dunk mids were comfortable too. I forgot I had those in high school. they were perfect for flip tricks protecting my ankles

For me it's Jordan 1 low. I have normal feet, size eleven but I almost always get some blisters. Be it on my toe, the inside of my foot or at the rim, which scratches my lower ankle. Especially if I am wearing no show socks. I owe one pair and I am definitely not ging to owe only one pair more...
I hear this hard. My true size is 13.5M, I end up constantly wearing shoes that are too small for me. If they run small too bad its normally the largest size they do already. Most of mine are a 13 which is fine for a couple of hours. But all day? Forget it.
Big footer here (size 13 US) can confirm this is true. Had to get a size 14 in the Air Jordan 11 cool Grey's and even still would NOT want to wear them for more than 2 hours MAXIMUM
They definitely went left with making the toe area narrow as hell on J4s but since I’ve gone up a half size on mines it’s done me justice. All my older 4s (2018-2021)I just wore around the house a few times to break them in and they’re good now lol

I disagree on the gore tex ones. They fit exactly like the leather 1s. They’re a little warmer though that’s all.
I've never bought a jordan 4 from Nike that's comfortable!! I only wear replicas of the jordan 4! The rep company I buy them from makes them 10x more comfortable and 1/2 the price!

My black cat 4s are the most comfortable honestly. I think it all depends on the cut of the shoe because I recently got two pairs of the infrared 4s and one pair fits super uncomfortable(the one the I might end up selling) compared to the other one which is as comfy as my black cats
I put new insoles in all my 4’s, plus go up half size and in my SB bruh. I totally feel you( pause) my guy. 💯🤦🏾♂️
I wore the 4s for an 8 hr work shift at the store. MY GOD THE WORSE MISTAKE ATTEMPTED. Im did have my react infinity to switch to during break.
Swapped the insole on my union 4 with hefe luxx fire 🔥 comfortable it did the job
With the narrow part i skipped the second hole lacing it and made the shoelaces loose

(Nike) Air Units are NO GOOD. I would like the sneaker community to admit that these are a gimmick from the 80s/90s and that a solid foam midsole is the only viable cushioning technology on the market. Your Nike Shox and Air Jordan’s and Air Maxs and Reebok Pumps and whatever else are just junk. Please, fill the Jordan 1’s midsole with React foam or BASF or a Margom sole or even welt on some leather and Dainite, IDGAF. Anything but the goofy, wacky, antiquated air bubble technology. JFC.
SB Dunk Zoom Air on heel is good, but forefoot has nothing special and feel direct to the ground, maybe good for skateboarding, but for walking, it depends
Nailed all of these. I 1000% agree with all of these. Especially the Jordan 4. Crazy cuz other than the OG release, I've bought the white cements every time they've dropped, and my feet cried each time.
You are right many shoes are incredibly getting narrower try some puma on and you might not get your foot in them
The hardest part about wearing retros is going backwards in comfort. I mean lets be honest a Jordan 35 should be more comfortable than a Jordan 3, 4, or 5 because of the technology
Damn I thought it was just me with the 4s! I’ve had my toes go numb at times from them being squeezed by some pairs then other pairs are completely fine🤷🏻♂️
A pair of the Hyper crimson Foams I had were the absolute worst
Mate, my fire reds are so painful, I wore them to a shopping centre and regretted it, only wear them when going somewhere I can take them off at, so disappointing
I remember getting my first pair of Nikes in highschool finally being able to afford them and since they were a lot more expensive than Asics i thought they'd be more comortable. What and idiot. They were air maxes and i never even broke them in. Years later and i figured I'd finally try some more nikes hoping some would be better. Dunks are pretty uncomfortable, jordan 1s were a punishment, you have to get the zoom cmft kind those are actually nice otherwise jordan 1s are basically intolerable. J3s are suprisingly comfy and the 5s are decent. I love the J7s. Aside from that I'm kind of shocked at how simple gel lyte 3s still blow everything out of the water. I expected new balance 550s to be worse than Jordans but they're easily more comfortable than most nikes I've tried
i call the Jordan 4 the Achilles cutters. I UnDS a pair at an outdoor mall and by the time i can back to my car both of the back of my legs were bleeding
My favorite silhouette ; the Jordan 6. I was excited to finally own a few pair , but then I realized how uncomfortable they are and it broke my heart hahaha
The most hurtful Jordan out of them all for me personally. 1s, 7s, 5s, 3s are all fine for me but the 6 is just not comfortable whatsoever

Totally agree with all of the list, except the Jordan 1 Gore-Tex. My Gore-Tex is actually my most comfortable pair of Jordan 1’s, with all of the extra padding in the collar. My 4’s are super narrow and very uncomfortable though, and I completely stopped wearing vans although because of lack of sole support.
I love what they did with the jordan 312. I bought the medicine ball colorway in my true size but my god, right where that strap is. It’s excruciating. I left my job to go change shoes mid day.

Me to I switched over to Adidas period I wear mostly Yeezys,ultraboost & a few other models but mostly Yeezys
Even in Running Camp decades ago...we were told Nikes are for aesthetics not for running.
I got Plantar Fasciitis because of them.

Most comfy sneakers in the game vomero5. Since I am 35 I switch to dad/runners shoes and I can't go back now so I try to still style them though...
Incredibly slept on shoe!
Vans- Sole is superstiff at first, but after wearing them a couple weeks and taking long walks, they mold to the feet and become pretty comfy
Jordan 4 - I can wear them a few hours but then they start to hurt, feels like the upper is always squeezing your feet
Jordan 1s- I can wear these all day, only the 85s require serious break in, took mine hiking up and down hills a few times and now they extremely comfortable
Yeezy boosts- Can't wear em, they too soft, annoys my feet and feels like I'm sinking
I feel like Jordan ones are very narrow. I usually go for an 11 in forces so mit tts would be 11.5 but a jordan 1 in 11.5 still fits way to small on the side of the toebox
It hurts to agree but the most recent pair of 4’a have all had that problem. My breds, university’s, fire reds and my lightings. I can wear my cement 4s all day not not feel the pain these new 4’s give me
I agree with the Air Max 97 not comfortable and the Air Max 97 BW I really like the look of both shoes but they just kill my foot after an hour
Jordan 7’s- I tell you why, they always feel like I’m wearing two pairs of thick winter socks underneath. 6’s also as they feel like wood.
My 2006 military blue Jordan 4s are very comfortable thank you very much
Just sold my Infrared 4. Love the look and hate the fit. One of the most uncomfortable shoes I ever had. After 3 miles I was considering walking bear feet 🦶. When I took shoes off, relief was almost orgasm like experience.

I completely agree about Jordan 4s. They are really uncomfortable. The sizing should be a half a size up. For Jordan 1 goretex, i disagree, for me the padding is better than the regular J1s. The solution for this is wearing a boost insole. It solves around 50% of the problem because of cushioning. I don't wear regular insoles of any Jordans except for j1 lows.
I have a pair of Adidas boost shoes that are uncomfortable to me
The boost just makes them too soft and it's like im walking on a foam mattress

I own 40ish pairs of shoes, some with fancy foams.. and Nike Blazer (jumbo) is probably the most comfortable I have (for summer at least, for winter they are likely too cold)
New Balance 878 is super comfortable for hikes but too hot for summer
Sold my Fire Red 4s and ALD 550s for this exact reason. Fit snugger than expected and were hard af on feet
I really wanted those 550s cause it gave me memories of back in the day, you and a few other people said how uncomfortable they were.... I left them thangs on the shelf.
They’re still worth owning imo, I love the way they look, just gotta know they aren’t an all day shoe

Im surprised so many people think 4s are uncomfortable. So many people wear them and say they're fine. I honestly think it just depends on foot type. I can wear ones all day long and be fine but everyone complains about them.
I'm surprised you didn't include J11, cause everytime I used 11's my toes wants to give up hahaha, I size up and it still hurts to wear them, that toe box sucks but then again the aesthetics/style of it is on point! haha the love and hate relationship I have with my 11's

Jordan 4's...love them. Lil pinky toe...hates them. Wore my new pair of the WTF's and WTF is right, I had to wear one shoe off teaching throughout the day.

These models need some Dr. Schools inserts lol. But you’re right about some of these brands NB, Air Max, Jordan know one want to talk about it because they’re hyped brands and they cost a lot but Vans is a given we know them joints and comfortable, I hate dunks to flat and uncomfortable but not sure about SB I haven’t had a pair.
4s are my favorites and man they hurt also the 3s. When I wore my UNC 4s for the first time I was at the movies and had to take them off
This is a great video. You really hit the deep meaty fesses of these shoes. My Jordan 4s are generally uncomfortable except for my winterized blue 4s I got in ‘19. Those are pretty comfortable imo
