  • A controversial photo said to show the legendary aviator Amelia Earhart is making headlines around the world, but a leading expert now says that is not the missing pilot. The photo is featured in a forthcoming History Channel documentary, 'Amelia Earhart: The Lost Evidence', which airs Sunday. "This photo is absurd. The claims being made about this photo are irresponsible," Mike Campbell, who is author of 'Amelia Earhart: The Truth At Last', told Inside Edition. #InsideEdition

    • @burrdaddy

It actually wasn't a book. It was a photo album with loose photos in it. So it doesn't debunk anything. Also, something missing from this report...the name of the ship has long been rumored to have been associated with Amelia and you can clearly see the name of the ship and you can see the plane. If I remember correctly, the dock wasn't even built when the "book" claims the photo was taken.

And the case for their *not* being Earhart & Noonan, is equally thin.
The claims of "photo experts" cannot change the fact that this photo is so horribly indistinct, that there simply *is* no way to confirm or deny their identification with Earhart & Noonan.

It makes me more sad to think that she might have died at the hands of the Japanese, in an internment camp, than if she had died instantly in a plane crash. She, most likely, suffered more in their hands. Amelia Earhart is one of my most beloved heroines. I got my pilot's license because of her. Rest in Peace, Amelia.✈

I didn't read his book but the History Channel documentary was pretty convincing. Also, being from the region of her death; The stories of the elder generation about seeing her on Saipan is very believable.
Japan controlled the area in question (except Guam), for 30 years (around 1914-1944). At that time, Japan was a very secretive and brutal regime. It is believable that the former assistant director of the FBI and the experts he gathered found Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan's final resting place.

Amelia Earhart was only 5' 7", and that's the upper torso of a tall person with a "V" shape and broad shoulders. Compare to the people in the foreground (which should actually make them appear larger).

VANITY, VANITY, VANITY... of the Human Heart's Desire to be the FIRST, and to be FAMOUS or WEALTHY... God had saved Amelia Earhart so many times from air disaster and navigational failure, but she kept on pushing so hard of gambling/risking her own life to break the records of being the FIRST...Gambling desire of all sorts is a VICE, an addiction like drugs, alcohol, and smoking, that once taken and loved, is hard to get rid of...
That was what happened to Amelia Earhart, after breaking the female aviation record after records, she can no longer LEARN how to stop, and acknowledge to herself, enough is enough... She never takes time to see, that God had already given her many SIGNS (Premonitions) that Life has a limit... Facts and Truth of Life...

Doesn't sound as if the guy watched the explanation provided in the documentary. I hear nothing from him about why he doesn't think it's Ms Earhart. The documentary does a pretty good job of establishing an scientific base for their claims about the photo. I agree with the journalist's probing comment that there is professional jealousy going on because he's been scooped.
