You could have a small (2ft) waterfall that flows out from the rec pond forming into a stream, which then flows down to the lake. It could have a tributary that leads to a shallow bathing pool.
I think you may like this idea. Dig a well to the groundwater near where your first pond will be located. The small house will be perfect. Get solar panels on the roof and install a solar pump. Build your stream in between ever pond for each turtle enclosure and finally let the water run into your big turtle pond. Think about it. A solar powered natural and turtle friendly fresh water feature. Start with sunrise and slowly end with sunset. The different ponds are filled with real fresh and clean groundwater all time.
You should do a larger stream and maybe get the fly river turtles a natural place more like there habitat and get some females and breed them, restore the windmill and it can pump the water for it.

Make one part of the pond rimless like the pools so it over flows into the stream. Then it can flow down to the pondless end like Greg is talking about and a pump pumps the water back to the pond. U could even use the real pond and have the pump down there. Many ways u can do it brother and I can't wait till u get it done.
