Thank you for the review guys, I've been on the fence about getting this for quite a bit. Pulling the trigger now.

Thank you for the video. I was not aware of this game, so I appreciate the explanation and thoughts!

I loved Crusaders until our group realized that the best way to play was to set up being able to do as many influence actions as possible. With the expansion making it where you can't sit in one spot and just influence every turn, I think it'll bring the fun back to the game for me.

Does the deluxe TMG version work with this or do i need to get the reatoration games base version?

It's compatible with the TMG or Renegade printings, and whether you have the deluxe or the retail version.

The base game was a 9 for me. The expansion bumps it up to a 10.

I enjoyed this excuse to go back and watch the old "Miami Dice" review video for the original game. All the new faces are great, but y'all need to coax Sam Healy back for a guest review every once in a while as well. I love the old Miami Dice format.

I’d consider getting this but not if the components don’t match my deluxe version (ok with wood buildings, I prefer them to the plastic ones anyway)

It doesn't add anything that needs to be "deluxe" style. Everything it adds more of was already cardboard. The new buildings are specifically cardboard because they are meant to be played underneath a meeple/mini building.

@@gotrek987 agreed. I was initially annoyed by this but after reading about the mechanisms I am actually happy that the new buildings are easily differentiated from the originals.

I am not fond of this theme - such a dark time.

It’s really pasted and barely registers.

The theme is the only thing I don't like about the game, but yeah, it's barely even there (which makes it even more disappointing that another theme was not chosen).

It's actually repulsive. Arguments could be made that it's no different than a war game, but the First Crusade is famous for the mass-murder of Jews. The Crusades were ALLEGEDLY about taking the Byzantine Empire back from a Muslim takeover - which... fine... a war game - but is this century a good time to be putting out games revolving around religions being intolerant of each other? Then ignoring the whole Jew-murdering is a rancid cherry on this horrific banana split. Maybe they can do a spinoff about Kristallnacht!

@@kevinbhieey9188 Well, there is a disclaimer in the rules about this issue. Plus, the designer is Jewish. Plus I’m Jewish, and I own and enjoy the game.
What would you have the publisher do? Gather up all the copies and burn them? There must be a market or perceived market for this game, or it would not have been published.
I am quite aware of the history. We end every Jewish service with a prayer that legend says was recited by a rabbi as he was burned at the stake during the crusades.
