Yoyoka (age 14) was the youngest drummer ever named to Drummerworld’s Best 500 drummers of all time, at age 11. Her family moved from Japan to California to increase her musical opportunities. She has been sitting in as guest drummer at the Whisky A GoGo for rock gigs, and also performs at a jazz club. She has collaborated with Ellen (bass) before, but said this was the first time this whole group played together, and just played the song through 4 times for the different camera angles and close-ups. 😎👍
There's a short behind the scenes of this video bundled with other stuff in this video: th-cam.com/video/QAXiYTTHYvs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=daZdauAZ0E-bv2jT and if you wish to advance to the behind the scenes, it starts around 16:20.
The bass player is Ellen(Ellen Plays Bass, her channel). She has been playing for years. Her dad is a musician and has helped her for ever. Ellen has played with Steve Vai and others. Any of Ellen's videos from her channel are great. She has a great personality and is so damn good!!
@@janbleeker Correct. Kids Rock For Kids is "a NYC-based nonprofit that brings together exceptionally talented and passionate young musicians from around the world." Ellen and Yoyoka are among the most exceptionally talented. Quick blurb on what KRFK is: th-cam.com/video/o6tlJ11CNng/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BPqLkfjHievQZGzS
Imagine practicing a song and the bassist for that song calls. Because of her dad, Mike Lepond of Symphony x gave Ellen a call to give a few tips on playing Domination.
Wow, a constellation of stars led by Yoyoka and Ellen in the lead, they are like thunder and lightning. They often collaborate together. The other young people are also fantastic. By the way Yoyoka is not just anyone she is already a drumming legend. Her accomplishments are countless with top level musicians in addition.
Description of the bio's are slightly off I've learned. At the time of recording, Singer Vinya is 13. Drummer Yoyoka is 14, Charlotte on guitar and backing vocals is 13 (14 now). Her sister Ella on backing vocals is 16. Ellen on bass is 11 (12 now) and Micro-mini Bay is the only male here, on guitar is 9. As a drummer, I've followed Yoyoka a few years and found the rest through this. Now I'm pulling for all to succeed. They recorded 3 songs during this session. Two released as of now.
Each of the kids in the collab posted this video (and another one with them playing a Boston song) on their own TH-cam channels and Ellen (bass) has the most views with more than 200k so far as she has more subscibers than the rest.
Glad you found them. I have been following Ellen for a while now. She has been playing monster bass lines for half her life and she was 11 when this posted. She is 12 now. All of them have their own channels with many thousand subs. In the original video is a list with links to them all.
The channels of the kids themselves have tens or hundreds of thousands of views of this song. One more cover has been published: Boston - Peace of mind. Two more covers will follow.
Great reaction! Check out Yoyoka’s channel. She is an amazing drummer. She has done a collaboration before with Ellen (bassist) when they did Led Zeppelin’s Ocean.
Now comes the waiting part. What are they going to do when they grow up? Go to the O'Keefe Music Foundation's TH-cam channel and look up their old cover of 46 and 2 from Tool, it's 10 years old now. The singer on that video is now in her 20s and has her own band Saving Escape. Also look up OMF's cover of You Wouldn't Know from 4 years ago, that lead singer now leads a band called Backhand Blue. Just two examples of kids growing up on the internet, besides The Warning of course.
They do have more views than this Kid's Rock channel, mostly on Ellen's and Yoyoka's pages because of their popularity. But they still need more attention. Check out Peace Of Mind (Boston) They slay that too
Wow! There going places, Yes vocal just a little louder, Maybe 12 and younger Did you find out they're ages, Your right we never no nowadays, Really them young getting in to this kind of rock, Slayer yeah she's smoking that bass, their all amazing Listen to them. Singer is good too. Who put them together do you know So they have more Yup fun and different Peace Zack.,
Thank You Zack.....these kids are good eh!! Been following Ellen (EllenPlaysBass) for a while...her dad is an accomplished guitarist and is in tight with Victor Wooten, along with a string of other notables... (there is a video with Victor talking to Ellen and sharing the benefits of new players learning "by playing and having fun" (as opposed to scales and repetitive practicing)..... Yoyoka...as others have noted is already one of the top drummers on the planet at 14/15ish currently...If you haven't had the pleasure...check out her cover of Led Zepplin's "Good Times Bad Times" (When she was EIGHT years old) (th-cam.com/video/91pz1E8pAOY/w-d-xo.html) NOW....assuming these youngsters continue following their present paths.... if we can get Chinchilla to check them out...(I can easily imagine the girl power that could emerge from a future collaboration Yoyoka, Ellen and Charlotte)!!!!......
Could you react to a new artist to your channel but not new in the uk but little known outside of it. still making music but still largely underground though highly regarded as uk hip hop royalty and a master with the pen. Chester P the Authorship
Wow! This is like a dream team of a band Yoyoka on drums, Ellen on bass. Incredible players. Some of the most popular child performers on TH-cam.
The little guitarist is 9, the blond guitarist is 14, bassist is 11, singer is 13, drummer is 14, and blond backup vocalist is 16.

Their Barracuda cover is great as well, Hope they keep putting more out

And the drummer, Yoyoka, is also amazing, one of my fave very young musicians, and a big-time TH-camr.
Drummer Yoyoka and bass player Ellen have nothing to do with a rock music school. I am not sure about the others.

@@janbleeker I erased that line. I guess my 77yr old brain misunderstood the video I had seen about them getting together.
Imagine practicing a song and the bassist for that song calls. Because of her dad, Mike Lepond of Symphony x gave Ellen a call to give a few tips on playing Domination.
The singer is definitely a star in the making at 13 ! She doesn't even have 600 subscribers on her channel ?? wtf
thank you!
Bassist Ellen Alaverdyan is a tour de force. Her dad, Hovak, in in a recorded metal band, Octavision., was/is her teacher.
I can finally rest in peace seeing that the future is safe in these more than capable hands

That, I believe, is accurate
Guitar & Backing Vocals are 14 and 16y old sisters
Fabulous performance. I can't believe how relatively few views and comments this video has. Glad to see this reaction!

Ellen the bass slayer! Muse needs to watch out for these kids.
It gives us boomers hope for the future of R&R!
WOW! This is really good!💜💜💜
14 drums and rhythm, 9 lead, singer13, bass 11, back up singer13

Ellen also plays a base for a cover of Led Zeppelin’s Ocean, and slays it. Italian a group of kids in that video.
To all: check out the other vid's of Kids rock for kids! It's a lot of fun and I think it will support the idea. Thanks if you do so.
Shit, I thought this was Def Leppard's , Hysteria.. but none the less, this is Awesome.. And the girl on the guitar??.. Wwwwhhhaaaatt??... 😮
Charlotte certainly knows how to make that SG cry!
Vocalist killed it. It's not easy to cover Matt Bellamy

It was covered very well by "Missioned Souls"
Please react to the cover of "Hysteria" by Muse performed by Missioned Souls, a family band from the Philippines.
Wow! There going places,
Yes vocal just a little louder,

Your right we never no nowadays,

Her name Yoyoka, she is 14

Watch the bass player she is 11
