Robyn was WHACK! You don’t take a child out of the country without sitting down and having a whole conversation! Mia has a father, although he may not have always been present, he was active in her life and provided for her. Robyn didn’t do it alone.
At first, I was loving the series it was good it was Rich good conversations real until they made that man’s son gay. Why do they have to throw that in everything raise a boy right to be not to be penetrated in his behind by another man bad enough in the real world Magic Johnson got a big gay son now we got to do this initial it’s not even necessary just let manly men and women be women even in the show, I feel bad for Jordan, taking her career is more important than sitting down and having a husband and children at the episode four I was done

Robyn is the villain. Harper is ambitiously selfish but Robyn blindsiding him with taking his child to Ghana was beyond cruel! Especially considering what they both went through to have Mia. She is also complicit in their failed relationship as she did not communicate with her husband. Harper and Robyn both settled for each other. This is exemplar of so many folks that marry have no business being married.
Even if she would have actually mentioned it before making a decision, he wouldn’t have been down for it. Like you said “ambitiously selfish”, things were not going to work out because they both changed, what’s important to them wasn’t important to their partner
I would go even further than that. Robin hitched her wagon to Harpers star from way back and took the ride on a gamble. (1) She knew she wasn't his ideal since she read "Unfinished Business" (2) She got no response when she expressed her feelings in the hot tub from film 1. (3) She suppressed her true feelings of unfulfillment in the relationship for years and even had the man's baby. She knew exactly what she was getting into but her PLAN ....was to change him. He on the other hand was trusting his eyes this whole time and doing what it is that he does.
From film 1 thru to the end they are right, Harper is EXACTLY the same person.
Harper was right when he said Robyn's actions had been selfish after filing for divorce. I applauded her for finally going after her dream, but blindsiding Harper with relocating his daughter to Ghana was such a callous move. But I think everyone jumped on him because he is consistently selfish and they were fed up with it. Even if she had communicated her dissatisfaction with their marriage, do you believe he'd truly listen to her? Years later and Harper still doesn't know what he wants. I think he really does see everyone in his life as characters in a book.

The relationship was going down hill on both ends yes Harper is a workaholic but Robyn needs to be held accountable as well. Harper was trying to be there more even though he was failing but She was already trying to be in that man from ghana face every chance she got instead of talking to Harper. Even Candice pointed it out.
Harper settled for Robyn because he knew from the start she loved him more than he loved her and that she was more invested in their relationship. I never felt like he proposed from his heart in the first film way back in '99. He knew she'd seen and had enough of the drama surrounding Mia and Lance and all their college friends, especially when she realized he was in love with someone else, namely Jordan, who was (and still is) "the one who got away." But if he hadn't proposed, Robyn would have been another one who got away, so he made the move he made to keep her around. Harper has been pretty self-serving throughout. It's a kabillion years later, and it's still all about him. I was happy to see Robyn go after her dreams and live her life.

What dreams ? Because let's be honest she knew what was up but given all her " passions " she always failed and moved on using harpers success for a bufer. Lets not pretend she isnt self serving . When every passion you have falls through isn't it fun to just blame your partner and take no accountability( in the second you know why they were struggling? Because only one person was paying for everything. ) She was never gonna make something of herself and she won't now. Maybe a year in ghana and off to the next passion that will fail. Robyn could have went after her “dreams” without talking their child away. Honestly she was never sure about her dreams she was just mad at Harper and used her unsure dreams and child as a leveraged. She’s still the biggest villain for taking her.
The dynamics of their relationship was off from the beginning. Harper, a future writer, had big dreams of success, which entails being out in the forefront. Robyn was more behind the scenes. Career woman, but more into staying low-key cooking, and learning about the motherland, and helping her own people. She didn't care about the million dollar home in the suburbs like Harper. Neither one was wrong on their individual routes to success, their ability to communicate, pay attention to the wants and need of each other, was a downfall for both. Harper was more compatible with Jordan, whom he was always in love with. So in my observance, neither one was the villain. They didn't move like a married couple should have, the moved individually as a married couple.
I think Jordan was a problem. She didn't respect Harper and Robyn's marriage. Harper only cared about what he wanted. Harper was always out of town. He spent a lot of time with Jordan as if he didn't have a wife.
Ok blame the single women Harper and Robyn should have never been together.

Harp, made the effort to save his relationship many times, he wanted the best for the family financially, especially when Robin wouldn't follow through on ideas he put support behind. He wasn't perfect but what makes her the villain is that nonsense at the end wanting to move my child to Ghanaaaaaaa..... And talking about the door being open????? Robin talks about him being selfish but totally discarded her daughters feelings crying for he father and just told her she will be ok. That child will resent her for that decision. VILLAIN!!!!!!

Harper been the creep since the first movie. He plays a good sneaky guy well. We want him to be a good guy, but he failed miserably everytime. He ain't gone get right. He's alway confused about what he wants. The fact that he's always contemplating cheating tells us everything we need to know about him. Robyn should have ran in the first one. 👀🤷🏾♀️

Robyn was all over the place too lol. Go watch the scene where all the guys are at the table playing cards in the first movie, and they all mentioned the many passions that Robyn had... Harper was definitely a creep, but Robyn wasn't any better...
Jeremy, remember Harper saying one of the reasons he held back a little from purchasing the restaurant was because Robyn always had great ideas and she wouldn’t follow through.

Harper was in love with Jordan. He married Robyn because Jordan didn't return the love. In fact, Jordan told Harper to marry Robyn in the first movie. Jordan was just settling. I think at the time Robyn cared more about Harper and Harper gave in knowing he wouldn't get Jordan.
Since the first movie Robyn seemed like she was all over the place when it came to what she wanted to do. He had her use his kitchen to cook for catering events, which he supported her in her dreams, which she seemed like she moved on to something else. The 2nd movie they went through some financial hardship, which she had a magazine or something that wasn’t doing well, but he invested in that. In the Final Chapters she wanted to move to Jamaica because she felt more free and she was dealing with the female cook. Somethings Robyn did She was there for her husband, but she couldn’t find herself in a sense! That was selfish to move the daughter to Ghana
Robin can't find herself. Ghana will be just another thing in a long line of Robin finding her "creative niche". Unfortunately it seems Harper was once her "Ghana". It would be interesting to know how they met and got together in the first place.
BTW....anybody ask little "Mia" if she wants to go to Ghana? Be a real shame she end up with Malaria or something.
@@oshe1 Robyn was always searching for her creative niche! The difference is she have a daughter now! I can’t imagine taking my child to another continent next to another state. I had an opportunity to move from Upper Darby, Pa to Atlanta, Ga. I had to sacrifice for my daughter since she just started another school(Catholic School) and she have to get an evaluation for learning support. I didn’t want to go to another state and start all over with new doctors being on waiting list for a good school. My daughter have Adjustment Disorder, so I can imagine on how she’ll feel going to another state.
Harper was always into his career, but he did invested in hers in the past, but she always moved to something else! I can see how he felt blindsided!

You gotta go back and see it again. Robyn was anything but selfish. All she wanted was a man who stood by her and supported her dreams. That's it. Never once did she make a demand in movie 1 or 2. She didn't flip out until after Harper showed he was still pining for Jordan. Finally she woke and realized he was never gonna get it together so she was gonna live for her. Basically she stopped waiting to exhale to coin another movie title...
Harper started out a low brow cheater and disloyal person, and he ended up the same way. How anybody could see Robin as the villan blows me away, she was always too good for his self-centered behind. He lacked the emotional intelligence needed for a commitment and healthy relationship. The dude slept with his best friend girl and continued to be in his face... Speaks volumes about him

Her character never did fit. I always found it odd that he proposed to her in the end of the first movie. Seemed like he was dragging his feet with that proposal, cuz she kept asking him to commit to her in some way in the first movie.

Now, if she would’ve known JORDAN was at the door when he didn’t say “I Love You”, walking down the road talking about the lack of sex Jordan had or even the compromised talk & kiss in church and telephone calls with Jordan, she would’ve broke out. Harper wasn’t going to last with Jordan either, because Jordan was running after her dreams. Harper was the weakest character because he allowed Mia to seduce him and he allowed Jordan to seduce him as well. Harper was consumed with his career and Robyn went along with Harpers desire to buy that expensive home. Harper is not a villain; Harper didn’t want to compromise with Robyn.
Harper was going to compromise and fall back if she didn't want it. She eventually gave in and said she did. So that part is on her if she didn't want it. She is the one that never communicated her feelings till she was at the breaking point
Of course Harper. Robyn was committed to him from the beginning. He decided to settle for her at the end of the first movie like he wanted to see if the other woman in his life was going to be with him. I always thought he was into Mia more than Jordan. In the next movie, Harper was trying to figure his life out with Lance and Robyn was the selfless one. In the final chapters, he wanted to take them from where she was most happy. I always felt Harper was most envious of Lance and his lifestyle. She did ask him to come with her, so how can that be selfish? I mean he could write from anywhere and be happy with his family. My thoughts are that Harder was the villain
Robyn, when it comes to a child and a mother deciding to sneak off to another country w/o telling him is cruel. This is too easy, Robyn is the villain she chooses the busiest time of his career to want too start a new venture ,just to give her something new to do in her long list of endeavors , she wanted a BAR IN NYC PAID FOR SIGHT UNSEEN And they cut short where she was headed with fruitstand dude to help her not be the full villain in the show, they talked about how fruitstand guy was in Africa too.. Never forget the first movie Robyn was Inconsistent in her passions. So no I'm not buying a bar !!! Sight unseen ....and imagine taking your daughter away from her family not just harper ... lances kids , merchs kids Quentin kids are her big cousins !!!! Now she's moving to a new continent and she cried for her daddy!!!!!
I'm not sure I would call either the "villain" until Robyn wanted to take Mia to Ghana. They had different goals and ideologies... and failed to communicate. Robyn did not adequately communicate her needs until she was completely frustrated. Harper was simply oblivious because he was focusing on his career. I thought the opening night compromise was great... thought they were getting somewhere. That being said, Harper was communicating with the wrong person... when no one else was at the after party, he should've went home. I do not think Harper and Jordan should have ended up together... they were each married to careers.

Here's the thing though, when Harper had the "Epiphany" and left his premiere night to support Robyn's venture SHE WAS TOTALLY UNMOVED / UNIMPRESSED.
She actually discouraged him from staying there, (which he seemed to want to do) and more than once pushed him to go alone to the after party.
What was that about Robyn? Did she think he was being obligatory and that she would actually be playing second fiddle if he stayed?
Because it seemed he was sincere there and she rejected it. (By my eye)

The villain will always be the person the viewer related to the least. In truth, neither of them was a villain, just human. Your hurt always feels the most relevant and only after you heal and move on can you really see what part you played in the relationship not working. Harper was incredibly selfish, not intentionally, but because his dreams were always his real love. Robyn intentionally put her desires on the back burner in order to make her relationship work but over time realized that that wasn’t enough. Once Robyn was fed up, she started becoming more selfish because she decided to pick herself. She really just gave him the same energy back but hers was laced with hurt bitterness.
Robyn had a huge problem with not listening to Harper. I noticed that from the second movie. Their trials and tribulations dealing with the failed pregnancies and financial ruin and Harper trying to explain how he feels and Robyn just shuts him down so snide. Harper had his issues too. But Robyn was flaky she’s was a opportunist she would get involved then drop it like a hot potato.
I'm sorry Robyn been a pill since the beginning. In therapy Harper was trying to communicate, Robyn came to argue. She already had a made up mind about what she wanted to do and was looking for a reason to exit the marriage. Nobody was going to let Harper live down his mistakes. Like they were kids in college!! I feel Robyn has always been combative from jump scene 1 in the 1999 movie. We will never know if Jordan was for Harper. As Jordan stated they only seem to connect out of drama. #TeamHarp #AndYesIamAWoman P.S. that mess Robyn pulled with their daughter was out of order. I was pissed his friends took her side at the Spivey's crib. SMH

I disagree. Go back and watch the first movie. Robyn wasn't a pill...she was protecting her territory. She made it clear she wanted Harper but it gets messy when 'the one who got away' (Jordan) never went away. I saw Robyn as trying to get on solid footing in a relationship but Jordan was always around. It was messy because Harper couldn't get Jordan but she was always in the picture and Robyn wasn't happy.

Robyn, she was horrible from the 1st movie to the final chapters! She was never truly supportive, always a nag, always unhappy, always knew who he was but never accepted him as he is! She could go to Africa if she wants to, but to take the baby and just decide that without talking to him was classic ignorant, bitter baby mama crap!

After the "almost was" night between Harper & Jordan.....Harper messed up.
He should've chose Jordan. But he was likely still reeling from the "moral lesson" butt whipping Lance put on him.
He chose Robyn over Jordan while he was still moralizing over the guilt of succumbing to Mia all those years ago.(in addition to the size 12 in his bottom)
He was "moved" by the moment and stepped out on faith. One of two things should have happened:
(1).Harper shoulda broke it off with Robyn
(2) Robyn should have rejected Harpers proposal.
Then we could see how Harper & Jordan may have turned out. But probably not. (they've had SOOO many chances)
Did nobody notice how Harp gave her full custody (before he found out she was moving to Ghana)? When i saw that part i was like, Why would he give her full custody?
2. Both are villains in their own ways. Harp should’ve never married her but he did try to work on the marriage. Robin was wrong to give up on the marriage so quick I feel, but I guess we couldn’t see her hurt over the years idk, but i felt it was too abrupt. Robin shouldn’t have taken their daughter to Ghana. Harp and Jordan wouldn’t have worked either tbh, i can’t see them having a successful romantic relationship. It was always built on what if and mystery.
P.S. Harp has been selfish forever. Always his career, he couldn’t take a vacation to Ghana for a little bit to save his marriage? It’s like he tried but not enough.

I think all people can use on Robyn is her decision to take their child to Ghana. No, I don't think that was right, but overall, throughout all the movies and the series, Harper has made all his decisions for himself. Even with his own friends. He had a pattern of "bad decisions" that he always benefited from in some way and another. I think Robyn took so much of his selfishness throughout the years and was so selfless that she did what most resentful people do, which is to make a decision totally for herself. That was the only decision she made for herself.

Theyre "villains" in their own way. The gave u whatever you want and the house. U can't show up the day off and say I'm moving to Africa with our kid. That's going way to far. IDC if it's mom or dad... Nobody should do that. Harper works hard and the particular profession he chose comes with a lot of responsibility, unfortunately. But he did it all for them (and himself of course) to achieve great things. A person wanting achieve as much as they can shouldn't be held against them but that person also has to find balance. Harper and Robin both know what it's like to be broke, he wanted to make sure they never have to worry about that again and that does take sacrifice. Robyn should be more understanding, but so should Harp. Different professions and I get she tries and gives up easy but his success has afforded her the opportunity to be able to try and fail until she finds her thing. Should be a gift not a curse, cant hold that against her that's why I worked to become successful. Harp downplayed his own value or power at times instead of stepping up and saying no my wife needs me on these dates.. he should have been more bold for his family. They both made mistakes and in some ways harbored resentment because of it.
I'm convinced Harper is in love with the idea of Jordan and the attention she gives him. They wouldn't make it as a couple. Are there any Commentaries about Jordan?...because...whew. child.
Robyn is awful. I get Harper's struggle at times and his ambition. But wtf do you want, a guy without it and to deny being it? A giy to not try? A guy to not be a guy? His instinct was to #1 provide and his ambition was also driven by her support when he was down. But her character was totally solipsistic and mean. Harper... not perfect but not awful. Robyn... the passive aggressiveness, selfishness... 👎 👎Edit - the daughter to Ghana was absolutely evil and the gaslighting truly showed her narcissism in all its glory.
I don't know about 'villain'. The character was just an awful person that Harper would do well to NOT invite back in his life when inevitably she'd return.

I loved the Best man Franchise Robin should have never married Harper knowing he wanted to sleep with Jordan. She got tired of being in his world and should have communicated with Harper she made the best decision by walking away. I'm going to miss Terence Howard acting congrats to a great career.
Yeah they were doomed from the start. I wasn’t excited about their engagement from the first movie. What self respecting woman would accept a man about to sleep with another woman. From the first movie, Robyn was written as the woman Harper was with till something better came along.

She really didn’t know though. We knew as watchers. We seen Jordan and Harper’s communications throughout. If she would’ve seen and heard what we we, she would not have stayed at the wedding.

And yet AGAIN, he was about to have sex with Jordan but the phone rang! Harper stays cheating with Jordan, just be with the woman already!! And if he would just give in a LITTLE & went with the family to Ghana for the summer, it would’ve been a step in the right direction towards saving his marriage. I don't think either was the villain. I just think that Harper wanted his career more than his marriage, his dreams keep going up and down so much that Robyn was sick of it. Her only fault was expecting him to know that she wasn't okay with the way things were, she just rolled with him and his dreams so much that that became the dynamic of their relationship. Harper was wrong for not being able to compromise, at least not enough for them both to be happy.
He could have just held off on his writing to live in his wife dreams for once, but instead he wanted to further his dreams and sadly that cost him Robyn. I was sad that they couldn't hang on or that Harper held off on his ambitions for once. But that's how it was meant to be, maybe it was a better set up for them to split and become the people they want to be. I'm just glad they did things amicably in the end even though Harper did snap for a minute.

Into the marriage..I feel they should have never gotten married in the first place .they seemed parallel in everything..non the less, Harper wasn't a saint, but Robyn was about selfish especially with their child..I mean, yes we know she's the mum, but his the dad too..making decisions like the child is hers alone was annoying..

She destroys another black family for her selfish journey to find herself at the expense of her husband and daughters tight bond. read between the lines she did not make a profit she was the drain on the finance he put up cash which is much more important than so much else to modern day americans. Put his money where her mouth was. Robyn turned into a liability no longer an asset, shew never listened to reason and just popped things up out of thin air.
she was about giving so he agreed to give just for her to throw in his face he did not support her. because of his bank acct she has an entire eco system in place in harlem NYC and she ups and just leaves out of nowhere. Had he been unsuccessful all these years she would have never found her luxury new found calling. I'd argue the only reason she is so passionate about whatever tf it is she is actually doing over there is because his name became so hot in these industry streets. She got jealous af and ripped his daughter away from him. The writer on this show deserves a golden globe, emmy Oscar....

Harper should've married Jordan if he was so in love with her, nope, he proposed to Robyn, he had feelings for her, but if he had his mind somewhere else, he should've been a man about it and told Robyn the truth from jump and Robyn shouldn't have to settle in another man's world, she should've left. I don't think Jordan was interested in marrying Harper. I think she was hormonal for a few seconds and got over it. Harper was slippery and sneaky and was not really marriage material.
