That’s not “Version 1”. The Rode Lavalier is the first version. The Rode Lavalier Go is a completely different microphone meant for lower budgets. Rode needs better nomenclature. I actually have the original, and it’s pretty cool. It has a proprietary interchangeable termination system that’s similar to Microdot.

great vid, very useful. deciding on these 2 because i need to put one of them inside my motorcycle helmet. have you ever cut open the cords? i'm assuming there are really just 2 cables inside the plastic outer sheathe/jacket. im considering cutting one up to make it shorter, as i dont need 4 feet of cord or whatever all up in my helmet. looks like the form factor on both ends of the older model is noticeably smaller, gets my vote.

From this video, the Rode Lav 2 sounds the best. Esp with the Sennheiser.

I heard the clip falls off on the Lav II... what was your experience with that?

Yes, they fall off if you don't secure them properly. I've actually had more issues with the windscreen falling off all the time. It's annoying. But the thing you should really know about the Rode Lavs that I did not mention in my review is how sensitive they are if you try to hide the Lav underneath clothing. These Rode Lavs are meant to wear outside clothes.

@@VideoGizmology That is also good to know. I have the Rode Wireless Go II and was thinking about getting a lav. I think I would tuckt he wire under the shirt but leave the mic exposed. After years of working in film, tv, and advertising... if I want to hide the mic then I will simply use a boom mic or something else. So no reason for me to try to hid the mic for the content I am currently producing.
I like the sound of the Lav II... but if there are known issues with the clip and windscreen one would think they would fix that within 1 year. Thanks for the answer and for the video!!!

Can you tell me what kind of white concealer for sony lav that you have? and can it fit with Rode lav 2?

That white mic cover came with the VT500 lav mics. I don't know if you can buy them separately or not, but they don't really fit the Rode lav 2.

@@VideoGizmology oh that's what Rove lav 2 need for concealing right now! Have you tried concealing the VT500 with it?
