- I Got Caught Speeding!!! Montana Farm Harvest 2022
I'm so excited to be driving our farm Tandem Truck solo! I stall it out in the field! Whoops! After I get the Tandem Truck to the field I jump in my combine harvester to finish the field before dinner. I feel the need for speed and Dad gets on the radio and reminds me to "Slow Down!" and "Easy Speedy"!! hahaha I might be horsepower obsessed. I enjoy going fast! Lily from Lily Bean Cafe personally delivers our dinner to the field tonight! Lily is the nicest lady and makes the most delicious food. It is really wonderful that she gets to have dinner with her husband Steve Wahl who is driving truck for us at harvest. Arvid finds a bolt lodged in the tire of his combine harvester. I make some mistakes today and I am sure learning a lot! This is not a farming simulator it is a real job with real mistakes! I hope you enjoy my video! Thank you for watching!

My Story…
Hello. My name is Kate Stephens, and I am an 18-year-old 4th-generation Montana farmer. My family has been farming wheat in north-central Montana since my great grandfather immigrated from Denmark in 1912 and homesteaded our land. My family has been teaching me about farming since I was two years old. I run one of the combines on the farm at harvest. I believe that it is important for everyone to know where their food comes from and the families who produce it. I love our farm, and I hope that my Farm to Fashion and Farm to Table products can help educate people about where their food comes from in a fun way. That is how Kate's Ag - Farm to Fashion became a reality. I hope you love my products as much as I do because this is an extension of our farm and the grains we have been growing to feed other families for over one hundred years.

Our renter finished our corn .He turned his combine around and discovered the field behind him was on fire. The local fire dept and some neighbors put out the fire .Rural people certainly help each other when needed don't they?

Love your videos Kate but have decided to take up a collection for you and your Dad. YOU absolutely need a new seat for the truck so you can reach the pedals - or a cushion at your back at the least. And your Dad, what does he need? Everybody notices that moth-eaten coat he loves to wear. Look at the sleeves and cuffs, they're in tatters! For heaven's sake, he's been working so hard he needs another coat from the nearest thrift shop. Or maybe sew some tote bags together! Please keep up the great work, we LOVE you!

This was your second video that I recall involving foreign objects in farm machinery tires. There is a good lesson to be learned from those experiences. By now, I bet you know how you'll handle the next one when you're the one making the decision by yourself.🙂

Kate you have to missing your Dad sitting next to you. The object Kate is to take the truck out of gear before you set the brake and release the clutch, otherwise its a quick stall. Ok young lady, or as our dad referred to you as 'speedy', what's your daily driver, a corvette!! U set the brakes on the grain truck and clutched it right, but it lurched and died when u let the clutch out because u were still in gear...u forgot to hit/put it into neutral. I wouldn't want to overstep my bounds or over-rule your Dad who is obviously is the expert here. Whenever you stop a manual trany, clutch and brake pedals in, shift lever to neurtal, pull parking brake to on, slowly release clutch pedal to make sure its in neutral. As you feel it is, foot off of brake and turn off ignition! You're on the road to an expert already!

I've never driven a big rig but it seems she simply let the clutch out when it was still in gear and the brakes were on. Anyone can do that even with a pickup truck.

Exactly. When the resulting ride was particularly rough, we called it riding the bronco. Some trucks can really throw you around. When I was young, like 14 or so, my dad was in the back of the truck and I was stopping and starting while he dropped stuff off the back. It was at this point that my foot slipped off the clutch and that days bronco had a lot of attitude. Me dad was....unpleased.

Kate.. first, excellent video once again. That being said, around the 1:38 mark, we noticed your backside coming off the seat. That means the pedals are too far away for you to safely drive. The seat should be able to adjust closer to the steering wheel so that when the clutch is fully depressed, your backside is still firmly in the seat. Even though you're young, you can still injure yourself (as you're in a twisted position shown at 1:38 for example). We noticed in some earlier videos, that vehicle was on the roads and you had the same problem. You put yourself and others at risk when you can't have total control of the vehicle you're driving. God Bless your Heart Kate you are doing so well now and I see things have become more calm with your efforts to learn. You are doing great every little mistake is a big lesson just remember that you are growing in experience. You have to make a couple mistakes just try to watch how many tickets you get just once is possible to make insurance too expensive. You have to protect yourself and your drivers record it’s absolutely vital. One ticket held me back from my dream job I lost for one stupid ticket for 10mph over lost my job I desperately needed and wanted. Just try to remember there’s possibly no way to lower insurance if you get a ticket. It’s especially critical when you are younger. It’s more expensive because you are and one ticket definitely doesn’t help. Also just to mention it. In Commercial driving getting sighted for tailgating will immediately cost your CDL it’s unforgivable and equal to DUI for consequences. You have to make sure you NEVER NEVER TAILGATE ANYONE. 🥺
Keep going you’re doing so much better now and you will only increase your skills now if you’re observant of the details. ❤️🖖🏼🇺🇸

Good Video Kate. Glad to hear that you soloed! A long time ago, I had an instructor tell me "Headwork then Air work" A great saying. For you it could be "Headwork then Combine Work: Hence you don't forget to turn off your parking brake. Slow down a little Kate I can tell your brain is going 90 MPH. Another for navigation was "East is Least and West is best" as it relates to adding or subtracting magnetic variation. I am not ragging at you Kate - You Rock!
