I had a used copy on tape when I was a teenager, and I listened to it for the first time, and I heard "MASTER!" in the middle of the track. I was like, "Wait, what?" I kept rewinding it to hear it again. I thought maybe someone had dubbed that into the song with a dual cassette boombox. At the time, I didn't know Anthrax were friends with Metallica.

@@paulmallon9292 It's not that they created something, just that it was new and fun to see a metal band actually embracing rap. Yeah, Kerry did No Sleep, but you didn't really get the sense that he was into rap. It was a metal guy guesting on a rap band's track, which was a little different than a band actually releasing an original rap song under their own name. Sure, it was kinda goofy, but it was supposed to be.

I was Junior in HS when this came out. Being an Anthrax nut and a drummer it was perfect. The whole drum line were metal heads. We started a chant for our school and would have the crowd of every Football/Basketball game chanting! "NOT"...."NOT". But, it was because we were "KNOTT" Central. So we would drop the drum beat and everybody was chanting "KNOTT"...."CENTRAL". It was funny to us. Our Band Director had no clue :-D

I'm the Man was my introduction to Anthrax. A Beastie Boys-loving friend bought the tape and brought it over my house, and I remember sitting up in my bedroom listening to it and laughing our asses off at it - it was like nothing we'd heard before. What really hooked us on repeat listens were the blistering live versions of Caught in a Mosh and I Am the Law on the b-side - neither of us were "heavy metal" people but there was something about Anthrax's sound and style that made them fun to listen to. We both went out and bought Among the Living and couldn't believe they were writing songs about our favorite Stephen King stories (Skeleton in the Closet is badass)! We also started reading Judge Dredd and later we got into Public Enemy because of the band. The liner notes for AtL couldn't have been more true: "We like to share this info with our fans so that you can go out and enjoy this stuff for yourselves" - they really influenced a lot of what I read and listened to in the late 80s and early 90s, and it was great stuff.

The I'm the Man EP was my introduction to Anthrax. A friend played it for me and i just freaking loved it. I was (and still am) a big Sam Kinison fan, so hearing him on it was awesome, too. I remember after hearing the EP, I didnt know what the album cover looked like and was at Sears or something with my parents and saw Fistful of Metal and was wondering if that was the album it was on...apparently, I had no idea how to read a cassette. Lol. I remember not seeing it on the track list but wondered if it was a bonus track or something. I almost bought it, but didn't. I eventually bought the I'm the Man cassette, though. That EP really set the bar for Anthrax for me. Another little amusing story about the ITM EP: In the 90s, I was at a show and my friend's band was playing and they had some kind of raffle or contest during their show and were giving out 12" records to winners. I ended up getting a Black Sabbath album and someone else won the vinyl EP of I'm the Man. I immediately went over to them and asked if they'd want to trade, and luckily, they said yes! PEFG or PEnikcuftaerg, or Great Fuckin EP!!!!

Yup, we did it as an amateur dramatics performance in Nottingham in the UK as teenagers, goofy as fuck and none of us really knew the lyrics just bounced around being silly; never knew any of the back story or even recognised the riffs but it opened up metal to a lot of awesome wider influences, which the later tour with Public Enemy cemented. And there was a serious, socially conscious message there too, if you cared to look (extremely dated insult on SoE excepted)... Not bless you Anthrax boys, and all who sailed under the logo!

I’m glad they did their rap thing in ‘87 and ‘91 and not today. Can you imagine a mumble rap Anthrax? 😂 “I’m the Man” is fun, nothing more, nothing less. That EP was the first time I heard “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.” When I first heard the original a year or two later, I was missing Frankie’s bass fills in the mellow part. Now I love both versions.

I remember I had the 7" with Caught In A Mosh and my buddies and I took it along to an under 18 disco night we attended most Fridays. Not a metal night but we begged the DJ to play CIAM and clear the dance floor which he did! Everyone backed up and we threw ourselves around and moshed for the whole song in our loud beach shorts and band t shirts. Song ended, we got up and walked off. Must have been 14 years old lol. Good times :)

LOVE THESE! I remember when "I'm The Man" on the flip side (or with depending on the format) of "I Am The Law" first came out (had to have the cd singles, the 7" records, the 12" singles & EPs, and the cassingle), and being a fan who purchased anything and everything ANTHRAX got it right away, and was blown away upon first listen. There was no other metal band as diverse as Anthrax back then. Fuckin' "I Am The Law", "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath", and I'm The Man all on one 12" EP ! ! ! No boundaries, outside the box thinking, and just doing whatever the hell they wanted to do. What more could you ask for in a band... the evolution would be unimaginable.

Owning this on every form of media it has been released on… at 50 years old, this is impossible to listen to without instantly feeling myself in the car I had in high school as well as working out the riffs on guitar and performing it with my garage band. #RaisedonMetal.

Freshman year in college I'm The Man came out. We would wait until about 2 am and point the speakers out the dorm window and crank it up. Not sure everyone appreciated but we thought it was hilarious.
Turns out campus police didn't see the humor of it.

I had to buy this album twice. I was in high school living in a small town when it came out. I wore it out. There would be some Friday nights where I didn't have any pitch in money for beer at a party and as long as I had I'm the man on me I drank for free. Lol! Eventually everybody got their own copy. Lol!

My introduction to Hip Hop and Rap were Run DMC, Public Enemy, N.W.A., The Beastie Boys and Anthrax's "I'm the Man" and the "Bring The Noise" singles as well, that was just back in 1991-92. Anthrax, Faith No More, early Red Hot Chili Peppers, Infectious Grooves, Primus, Living Colour, 311, Clawfinger and Rage Against the Machine to me are definitely the roots of Nu Metal, 10 years before it existed in the public eye.

I like most people first heard "I'm the man" on NFV. And I was like what the hell is this. Anthrax don't HIP HOP and how wrong was I. I bought the 7" single, which I still have today. Loves it and still do. Rich Ward even said if it wasn't for Anthrax doing songs like I'm the man and bring the noise. The Stuck Mojo wouldn't of ever been born.

This was my first anthrax cd and probably the second cd in my collection.the first being A band called A.S.A.P. (Cd’s were brand new back then ) and they were the first metal band I got into that my older brothers didn’t like. I had a blank tape with some songs from spreading the disease.
I went to buy state of euphoria when it came out and the record store clerk gave me Among the living. Then I was an anthrax fan.
Persistence of time was great and they peaked with Sound of white Noise
