Between Levi's video skills and your editing Alyssa... this is some of the best content your channel has ever produced. Less talking and more showing is definitely the way to go. I'm really enjoying the build and can't wait for the next part.
It's hard to believe how I look forward to every morning when I can sign on to my computer to see if you posted another video. This has been extremely fun to watch, and I'll be right back here in the morning to see the next one. Thank you for doing this.
I found myself with a slight grin at the end of the video. Just reflecting on your journey to this point. The assembly is just around the corner. Levi did such a tremendous job on the amount of video acquired, and Alyssa, girl you have done a tremendous job in your edit of the content. Thanks you guys, you have given me a warm glow on this cold afternoon!
I’ve had time to get used to Jesse and Alyssa seemingly always managing to do amazing things, but I truly am blown away by the hard work, spirit and amazing craftsmanship displayed by the volunteers under the guidance of the Shelter staff. I’ve seem more and worse mistakes perpetrated by so called “professional” builders. I guess this proves that if you care about what you are doing you will do better than someone just “doing a job.” Bravo everyone. You, too, Levi! The videos are awesome!
Alyssa, I am so impressed with how you have used the music in the build videos. The whole build has been such an escalating emotional experience to watch. The videos you edit make me feel like I am right there watching everything. The perfectly placed music makes it seem like a movie soundtrack.
I've been watching you guys since the beginning and I have zero interest in building one myself but I'm sitting here grinning ear to ear like you guys just to watch all your work come together like that. Congratz!
Im old, unable to do this type of work any longer, but in some meaningful way, I am right there with you, rooting all of you on. What a beautiful display of people working together to accomplish something significant not just for a common goal but individually as well...I cant wait to see the videos of those who have learned from this do their own projects. Blessings to all of you.
Thomas Sutherland and Dan L, thank you both. Many years ago, I learned to box frame in my early 20's, and wish I had continued on down that path because of the people I met and the beautiful custom homes I worked on. Ive been watching these videos for well over a year now...and I absolutely love the fellowship demonstrated from real timber framers, especially the beautiful people who comprise the TImber Frame Workshop and their students.I have severe COPD now, makes life real difficult, but these videos do more than illustrate how to build a timber frame. God is good. Merry Christmas.
Regarding the couple of mistake and and the good attitude shown. I'm so glad they didn't make a fuss about it. Life's all about how to fix mistakes rather than throwing blame. All construction managers contend with material variances, labourer errors, engineers measurements that don't line up in the real world and architects with their impossible designs. As a mine-site construction labourer I was always shimming, cutting, sanding, grinding, drilling to make parts line up or fit.
Every single person involved in this project will count this experience as one of the highlights of theirs lives. In these days it is good to see such good in humanity!
This is the best video for me. Watching the beautiful joints closing perfectly is AWESOME! Whether a timber frame or a bridge, assembly is the best feeling.
After 20 years of building Log & Timber Frame Homes I have worn out many body parts , 1 knee replacement, 3 hernia surgeries, sore back. Usually with just a 4 man crew. From sill plate to finish work we did it all. Got 1 more to built for my daughter's family. 24 x 36" western red cedar shiplap T & G 8" logs with flat inside. Timber Frame interior system. Green metal roof with solar.
I have been following you since the beginning and watching you drive your first pin in was so rewarding, like I was there with you! I can't wait to see it when you are all finished...
Wow impressive Jesse, Alyssa Shelter staff and students!!! I’m so happy for you guys. Seems to be coming together really well considering the weather. Can’t wait for the next few videos.
Awesome video, You guys are so fortunate that the Shelter Institute got involved. Pat is amazing! Without him and his years of experience and all of the students you wouldn’t be anywhere close to the results of this video by yourselves. A project like this requires a lot of people. Fortunately you had a great crew !Can’t wait for the next one.
That 1st scarf joint was a really nice fit! If thats any sign of the job,You guys are going to have an exceptional home! I have built about 40 homes in my life, Not to brag but I know good when i see it! Congrats!
I've been watching the final videos of the assembly of the timber frame...You and all the crew are rock stars! Professional grade all the way. A true joy to watch.
The editing is so good! The cliffhanger last episode with the assembling and the little recap in the beginning in this one was so nice. Well done, looks amazing!
I am one of the anonymous people who follow your progress. I am enjoying watching your personal and relational growth. Please continue your grand adventure, ignoring the nay sayers. You are doing a great job.
As a young child in South Dakota (1960 ish) I had a toy called 'Lincoln Logs.' A lot of round notched sticks of different lengths you could use to assemble a tiny/toy cabin with. I have never forgotten those because things through the years keep reminding me of that. This is another one of those. Thank you!
So excited to see it all coming together. Enjoy the little detail fixes. The Shelter Insitute folk have real tallent, skill and knowledge. A joy to watch and learn
Possibly the most powerfully dedicated people I've ever seen come together to build a home! Congrats, I can't wait to see the crane lifting the frame up.
I have never seen this done in real life, and I find it very exciting to see a building method and the bare bones of a home coming together. Really exciting.
The precision of the work is truly amazing with only one fixable mistake WOW .... and as the beam will be in the walk-in closet I think every time you see the 'mistake' you will think of the people that made it all possible which I think will be a nice tribute to the crew. I look forward to raising, thank you for sharing.
The whole crew is so awesome!!! Great job of working together. No possible way you could find a better crew that could do a better job !! Impossible!!!! Everyone should be really proud of themselves.
Very nice final shots - of the morning Snow Fall! Beautiful! I don't know how you kept a dry eye today! Alyssa - I was tearing up just watching the beams going together so well - and it is not even my house. How can you not be blubbering with Joy! So exciting!
Mistakes are bound to happen even if this was a full professional crew and that's what puts the character into the end product. Jesse and Alyssa's attitude about the mistakes speaks volumes... I believe they handled quite well. Putting it in the closet area is perfect, it can be a reminder of this class and all the hard work people did and recognize mistakes happen and they are not a big deal. As the saying goes, "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff ... and it's all small stuff: Simple Ways to Keep the Little Things from Taking Over Your Life" by Richard Carlson
Well worth the wait! Excellent captured moments and triumphant accomplishments! Can't wait for the final installation of raising the frames! Again - edge of your seat moments wondering about the snow at the end of the video... (even though spoiler alerts of completion and videos not in real time) Well filmed Levi and edited by Alyssa and high 5^s to all the students and staff!
This has been an awesome experience. We remember when you guys started this wonderful dream two years ago. We remember when yall bought your rv and moved it to the property and the start of this off grid experience. We are watching a great build and are looking forward to the day you move into your awesome home. Stay safe out there.
Levi, I am really impressed with your photography. A&J have done a fantastic job on their own and you’ve kept the whole feel the same. Plus, your personal involvement and appearances add so much to the community feel of the project. I have no idea how you became involved and I am very impressed with your work. Thank you!
I am going to be sad when the house is done... but I am not the one living in a trailer. I am in awe at every video and have loved the journey from day 1. I do have to admit that i cheat and check the Instagram and FB posts to see what is coming. Keep up the amazing work!
A-MAZ-ING!!!! Wow!!! Levi, you ROCK!!! And you always leave us hanging on the edge of our seat. GREAT vid and so incredible how this is coming together. Absolutely beautiful. Great job EVERYONE!! I am so happy for y'all. Alyssa, the eye twitch is from stress.... it will go away when things settle down. Right now, it's just going to be annoying.... been there, done that. Congratulations guys.
This is reality tv, not the crap that we get from the big networks. This is about people who want to learn new skills and are learning and making mistakes.
This is so much better to watch than the news and other shows on TV. Tomorrow we have to get on our roof and start working on a partial re-roof. Hurricane Irma took it's toll by blowing a pecan tree of pecans onto the roof at hurricane speeds. I sat up all that night listening to the nuts hitting the roof and just knowing in a few months their would be hundreds of leaks. The roof is over 25 years old and would need a re-roof soon anyways. It is so exciting watching this. We watched the new Star Wars movie tonight and I am enjoying this more, as this is real life.
....... so cool that so many people worked on each piece of the frame and when you put it together it all fit together so well. Amazing how tight too ..... not questioning their expertise in any way, but, all were students. Fantastic ! Tends to show the skills of the instructor as well as the skill level of each individual. I commend you all ...............
So happy for Jesse and Alyssa it's awesome to see everything going together you must be so excited to be so close . Cant wait to see the finished product . Neither can you ,
We are loving the chance to reconnect with the Shelter crew through your videos. Also Alyssa, your editing is great. I know what it takes to put these together. I hope to get my skills up close to yours some day. Great job guys. You both look beat. :)
I am aware of those facts. I was merely suggesting that the spirit here is more like that of a group of neighbors getting together for a “barn raising” than the usual attitude of contractors that you can hire. Obviously the gamut of human behavior governs contractors and I have experienced both the best and worst in those I have hired. This professional staff with paying students have achieved something that heartens back to a “spirit” that supersedes most of what I have seen and experienced.
Awesome watching the timbers come together tightly but smoothly. I can feel the endorphins of achievement from here, just watching it. Doug fir never looked so good. So, did Inspector Bugaboo give it two paws up yet? Most excellent. Sooooo, we're almost done with this little project. What's next, Bugaboo? A timberframed, all-weather spa deck and enclosure? Timberframed RV shack for excess guests? Timberframed wood shed? Timberframed solar battery shack? The possibilities are endless!
Awesome video! Only one cut wrong, thats great. You had good luck with great students. You two have done a big job before Workshop, so I understand you took it little easyer in workshop. But Nice job and Shelter Institute, what a team!!! Waiting for raising now, cant come fast enough. Hugs from Sweden!!
AWESOME!! SO much fun to watch you guys and the crew excited about the build. Looks like everyone was having a blast. Looking forward to the frame going up over the next couple of videos!!
Seeing your home come together is just awesome , I just wish that medically I could have been there to help in some way , but congratulations to the two of you and I can't wait to see it come together

When I say that for me it was almost holy, I am referring to the marvel of watching complete strangers work together to CREATE BEAUTY. This house, to me at least, is a living thing. It consists of the culmination of dreams, blood, sweat and tears. A lot of money, yes... But because of the amount of personal sacrifice, the team work, and the necessary drive to complete what was once only the beginning, this is a huge testimony of what we can do when we dream, sacrifice, and create together. I don't usually make long comments, but my old heart is just flowing over with joy for all of you. You are much richer for having chosen this road. God bless you all.... Tricia
Super excited for the next couple videos watching it go up! You've really planted a seed of inspiration to do my own timber frame someday! I've been enjoying watching your guys' journey!
You guys were lucky to have Levi take over the video so you both could be totally involved in the project. Looking forward to the next episode, to take away the sting of seeing all that snow.
I wanted day 5 so bad I'm drooling. It is so frustrating to have to wait till Sunday for day 5. But then it's hard to imagine how excited Jesse and Alyssa must have been to have the frame up. But not be able to dry in because of weather!!!
Yes, and not to many women can run a Stihl saw, stack wood, use a 40 pound Plainer, drive a Back hoe, roll logs with a Peavey, feed the cat and Jesse, film it all, and still be smiling !
Ive been following you for a year, i bought 2.07 acres of high-land in kingman AZ, with 360* mountain views and a house..property has not been lived on since 1985. need lots of work but i can do it. learning from you , has been invaluble.. you are fortunate to have a partner for help..im doing everything by my self....thank you....
My guess how they feel: Like some Christmas where you get some awesome present that in your childish mind will totally change your life, make everything great and you'll be happy forever. And they look at it and can't really believe it's really for them! All these people did this for them! That is my guess how those two feel.
Between Levi's video skills and your editing Alyssa... this is some of the best content your channel has ever produced. Less talking and more showing is definitely the way to go. I'm really enjoying the build and can't wait for the next part.

Absolutely magical to bring this many strangers together and build this beautiful structure.
Can’t believe I got so emotional watching your house come together,
People power must be the best feeling you are all great people 👏🏻
I don't think I've ever been more thrilled for two people I don't know.
Plus, just think the money to be made as a Bed and Breakfast, with 300,000 Subscribers just awaiting ! (-; (-;
The editing is so good! The cliffhanger last episode with the assembling and the little recap in the beginning in this one was so nice. Well done, looks amazing!
It's wonderful to see you both so pleased and proud of your accomplishments. These memories will last you a lifetime, congratulations!

I can only imagine how emotional you both felt watching the frame begin to come together. Love your videos and the "hero" music is quite fitting!

I have never forgotten those because things through the years keep reminding me of that. This is another one of those. Thank you!
Curtis Clark l was given Canadian logs in the early 60s. I still have them to day
Good for you! The windows and doors were very simply basic but I didn't know that then.
Great editing, probably the most suspenseful episode yet! It was just like I was there! Can't wait to see the next one.... Great, great, great!!!
I have never seen this done in real life, and I find it very exciting to see a building method and the bare bones of a home coming together. Really exciting.
I'm just in AWE! you'd think it was my house going up...i'm THAT excited about the project! Tree (3) tiers (cheers) for the awesome crew!!!
Great to see Alyssa and Jesse having a great time and enjoying the beginning of the fruits of thier labour.
The precision of the work is truly amazing with only one fixable mistake WOW .... and as the beam will be in the walk-in closet I think every time you see the 'mistake' you will think of the people that made it all possible which I think will be a nice tribute to the crew. This video had me on the edge of my seat, holding my breath and left me breathless and excited for each and everyone of you all :)
I hope Levi was offered a job after this, this series of timber frame workshop is a amazing

Yes, I ran crews for years. Never got mad about an honest mistake, life happens we are humans.
Well worth the wait!
Excellent captured moments and triumphant accomplishments!

Those timbers frames are so beautiful! The joinery is amazing! Now I understand why Jesse had to get the beams sawn to the right dimensions.

Plus, your personal involvement and appearances add so much to the community feel of the project. I have no idea how you became involved and I am very impressed with your work. Thank you!
Very emotional for me! Wow! Anyway I think that missing little triangle is the signature of the building! Congrats!

I wish I could give you 20 likes on this. It was so exciting to watch. As good as a feature film. loved it.
Watching this video I can't imagine how one would do this part with less than about 10 people. I'm enjoying the great team work.
Usually crews are made up of 4-6 people, more manageable. And its all power tools....

This is reality tv, not the crap that we get from the big networks. This is about people who want to learn new skills and are learning and making mistakes.
Exquisitely entertaining! Thanks. And Levi, as a fellow, Canadian, I'd like to congratulate you for saying "eh" only once (that I noticed).

To see the emotion on your faces after driving the dowels says it all, outstanding guys.
atb t ..
WOW is an understatement - I'm still trying to wrap my head around how well those big timbers fit each other. I can only imagine your pride.
Eeeek! This is better than Christmas! Epic intro music.
Really really really really really enjoyed this sequence of videos.
Hi from Barbados! I have been watching you guys from day one and I must say well done to the crew. Congratulations! 👏👏👏
Don't forget how much value the engineer and pat add to this project!
It's amazing to see all this work pièces all togerther like pousell .love every minute of it .
What a great bunch of folks you have there.
Fairly new to Pure Living ... How inspiring ! I Love how everyone that helped this couple were so dedicated and worked so hard Great Job! . With all the disfunction & fighting thats going on in todays world EVERYONE needs to watch this Video They might learn something about working together.
May God Bless this Wonderful Couple, Hope You Enjoy Your Beautiful Home !!!
Seeing you guys drive those first pegs home was so awesome and satisfying. Congratulations.
This is simply epic. Well done to the entire crew.
Another great video, congratulations to EVERYONE! What a rewarding experience for all.
These past several days worth of timber frame raising vids are almost as epic as the "you shall not pass' moment in lotr... amazing...
The excitement and amazement comes through the video so well.
Very moving. Well deserved!! Thanks so much for sharing.
When asked which student made the mistake on the piece of timber, Alyssa, you say “it doesn’t matter.” That really speaks to your character. ❤️
to Our Untamed Tribe
Hey stupid...It wasn't a student. No students worked on that end of said beam. It was either one of the owners or someone from the institute...! Get a clue....
watching one video and when i walk with the dog and get back there is a new video wauw what an awesome job you did with editing THANK YOU
this video put a huge smile on my face
The video score matches nicely the level of excitement and awe. Great work by a great crew. Congratulations! Z
You definately have an "A(mazing) Team". "I love it when a plan comes together." :-) This part is very fun to watch. Nice editing.

I liked this video just about the best of all you have done. I think it was the music and the excitement of the build. Congratulations!!!
Great Job!!! loved watching everything come together. Can't wait till Day 5.
watching from the beginning, these moments are almost emotional for us watchers as well! Thanks and congrats!!
For those that don't want students putting it together or cutting joinery, this is what community is about. What I would have given to be there
concur. i'd rather have that experience (and a few memorable fixes in the framing) than lose the experience and have a clinically perfect frame.
That endcard music, so epic!
I wanted day 5 so bad I'm drooling. It is so frustrating to have to wait till Sunday for day 5. But then it's hard to imagine how excited Jesse and Alyssa must have been to have the frame up. But not be able to dry in because of weather!!!
Amazing team work.
The frame is coming together! Alyssa is beyond cute. She is adorable.
Yes, and not to many women can run a Stihl saw, stack wood, use a 40 pound Plainer, drive a Back hoe, roll logs with a Peavey, feed the cat and Jesse, film it all, and still be smiling !
You of course know how it all turned out, but for us it is sooo exciting. Thank you so much for sharing your guy’s experience with me.
I'm thinking about setting up a "Go fund me" account to get coffee for Alisa so she can get the videos done lol
1. This is awesome to watch
2. Shelter is amazing to pull this off so well.

My guess how they feel: Like some Christmas where you get some awesome present that in your childish mind will totally change your life, make everything great and you'll be happy forever.
And they look at it and can't really believe it's really for them!
All these people did this for them!
That is my guess how those two feel.
This is so exciting I am so happy for the both you. This is going to look so good when it is completed.
Quite possibly the best video yet!
